Dragon Master novel Maximilian novel Chapter 273

“Great! Just wait for your pathetic result. Do not try to cheat me. Jacobs, you have to be fair on this too.”

After saying this, Leon left with the rest. Humphrey also left, after hesitating for a moment.

Looking at them leaving, Jacobs said anxiously, “Mr. Maximilian, you were impulsive. The No.9 gemstone is the best one in this auction. It was even checked by several experts in this field. They said that other stones could not even be compared with this one.”

Victoria immediately got nervous and grabbed Maximilian’s arms, “Maximilian, you really got too impulsive this time.”

Maximilian started reading the instruction book and paused at the page of stones’ pictures, then said with a smile, “Do not worry. They cannot beat me.”

Jacobs covered his face, speechless. Since he himself was the one who planned this event and knew well about those stones, why was Maximilian so confident?

“Mr. Maximilian, these stones were all from me. I know them very well. Though nobody can be sure about their exact qualities, I still have the general ideas about them.”

Maximilian nodded and said calmly, “I know. I appreciate your kindness.”

“Eh.” Jacobs sighed and decided to not persuade him anymore.

Connor came back to Maximilian, “Did they leave? Frankie is too ambitious. I have to let him remember this lesson.”

Jacobs grabbed Connor’s arm and told him what happened.

“Connor, it’s not me being careless. I couldn’t talk Mr. Maximilian out of this.” Jacobs said.

“It’s Ok. If Mr. Maximilian said he could win, then he will win.”

Jacobs got speechless, not getting why Connor was so confident.

Maximilian smiled, “Go wherever you need to go. Don’t stay here.”

Conner knew Maximilian wanted to stay with Victoria alone.

“Mr. Maximilian, we will be in the front. Just tell us if you need anything.”

After saying that, Connor walked away with Jacobs.

“Are you really confident about it?” asked Victoria.

“I’m absolutely sure about it. You do not need to worry at all.” Maximilian answered with a smile.

“Does Connor respect you just because of Wilfred?” Victoria could not help asking.

Maximilian nodded, “Yes, of course.”

Before Victoria could ask more, Laura and Marcus walked in among many others coming for this auction.

Those people, who were in the preview show earlier, were now coming into the lobby as the auction was about to start.

Marcus looked excited, murmuring about those beautiful jades. On the side, Laura said impatiently, “What’s there to say? You do not even have the money for it. Your son-in-law could not even get you a piece of it.”

“I never hold expectations on that loser. It would be great if I have a better son-in-law. That green emerald looked so high-class, but it was too expensive. I could only enjoy looking at it.”

Marcus glanced at Maximilian and disdainfully shook his head.

“Where is Humphrey? He was with you. Victoria, did you hurt his feeling and drive him away?” asked Laura.

Victoria looked at Maximilian hesitantly, not sure how to tell them what happened.

“He met some friends, and went to talk about business with them.” Maximilian made up an excuse.

Laura looked at Maximilian suspiciously, then knocked on his forehead hard.

“You are such a shame. How would I have such a loser son-in-law like you? Whenever I talked about you with others, I felt embarrassed. You have no idea how many old sisters mocked me by mentioning you! You've disgraced me!”

“Mom. Stop!” Victoria interjected to protect Maximilian and looked straight into her mom’s eyes.

“Yeah sure, just keep protecting this loser. We will see what business he could do in the future.”

Marcus pulled Laura back, “Stop. There are so many people here. At least wait till you get home to do this.”

Laura glared at Maximilian, then started reading the instruction manual.

In the parking lot, the wounded Frankie was carried into the car by his men. Looking at his body covered by blood stains, the others got goose bumps all over.

However, Leon was glad that he bet with Maximilian at the last moment.

“Bro, just relax yourself in the hospital. I will avenge you, and defeat that Maximilian.”

Frankie glared with his tiger-like eyes widely open, as if those eyeballs were going to pop out at any moment.

“I will not let him go. He have to pay for these stabs.”

“I just bet with him, and I will surely win the bet. After that, we can get to his house and show him the consequences to mess with you.”

Frankie nodded and said, “You just need to focus on Maximilian. I will arrange something for Connor and Jacobs later.”

“Alright, go send him to the hospital fast.”

Looking at the car driving off, Frankie and the others walked back to the auction center.

“Frankie looked so miserable. We need you in the end to show that loser our capabilities. Good job at coming up the bet with him!”

“That poor loser has to pay for it hard; otherwise, this will not end. He is a dead man for acting presumptuous in our place.”

Other rich guys like Damion were holding grudges now too, thinking about killing Maximilian once and for all.

Humphrey hesitated for a bit, then said on the side of Leon, “I can sit next to them as a spy.”

“Ah haha, Humphrey, you do have a good idea. Just do not expose yourself before the show is on.” Leon looked at Humphrey seriously with a threatening hint.

“I won’t, for sure. I have a grudge against that trash, too. You know that.”

Leon tapped on Humphrey’s shoulders, then entered the auction center with the rest.

Humphrey was left behind at the end of the group, still replaying the scene that Connor supported Maximilian fully. He could not understand it.

“It doesn’t make sense. I have to know the reason.”

Humphrey walked in the auction, sat near Maximilian, then looked straight into his eyes, “Do you really know Connor?”
