“Jessica Cooper, forty-five years old, unemployed. The child who has just had an

operation is not your biological son but your stepson.

“It is said that you never liked this stepson. Several times, you told people that you

wanted him to die immediately. And you seem to have a part in his car accident.

“You saw that the car accident did not kill him, so you wanted the doctor to give him a

craniotomy in the hope that he would die on the operating table. This way, you can

make this annoying stepson disappear and also can ask for a big sum of compensation money from the hospital. Am I right?”

After Saul finished speaking, the rest were all stunned.

Was there really such a vicious person?

Even though the child was not her biological son, it was so heartless of her to actually

want him dead.

Seeing that everyone was looking at her, Jessica turned pale. She gritted her teeth and

said, “Nonsense! You are just trying to help Dr. Gainsford get away with it.”

“The police will find out whether I am speaking nonsense or not. But I have to remind

you that what you did in the emergency room this afternoon was caught on surveillance

cameras. Do you think we’ll let you twist the truth and just take your word for it?”

After Saul finished speaking, a few police officers walked up to Jessica. “We’ve got a call

and now suspect you of attempted murder. Please come with us.’

Thump! Jessica fell to the ground, her lips pale.

Soon, she was taken away by the police. The reporters holding the cameras were

stunned for a moment. What a sudden twist of the event!

However, Saul did not intend to stop there. He stared at the reporters coldly. “I hope to

see the correct report. I believe you know what I mean.”

“Yes… Yes.” Some people nodded. There was no way they could miss the threat in Saul’s

words.

They did not dare to have any objections. After all, it seemed that Dr. Gainsford was

wronged. They were horrified. They had almost been used by that woman.

The reporters left, and the crowd dispersed.

Elaina looked at Saul and said to him, “Thank you. I will repay you in the future.”

“Don’t worry. Just see it as a friendly gift from me,” Saul replied with a smile.

Elaina was exhausted and did not say anything else. She wanted to go home, lie down,

and have a good sleep right away.

Saul seemed to have noticed her exhaustion and said, “Looks like we can’t eat dinner

together tonight. Let me send you home so you can rest early.”

“Okay.” Elaina did not refuse him. Saul had just helped her, so it would be rude to turn

him down.

With that, Elaina was about to leave with Saul. She had just taken two steps when she

suddenly thought of something. She turned around and said to Jalen, “Thank you, Mr.

Halton. It’s getting late. You should also go home and rest.”

She did not know why Jalen was still here. But on top of everything else, Jalen had also

stood up for her. So she should at least thank him.

“No need. You helped me yesterday. Now I’ve helped you too. We are even,” Jalen said in

a deep voice.

Elaina was surprised. So that was why. She had been wondering why Jalen showed up. It

turned out he was trying to return the favor she did him in the elevator yesterday.

“Fair.” Elaina nodded. It was good that they were even.

Then she left the hospital with Saul. Jalen stayed where he was and watched until they disappeared from his sight. His face was so gloomy that no one dared to go near him.

“Mr. Halton!”

Graham ran over while panting heavily. “You told me to investigate that woman, and I did. You’ll be surprised by how vicious that woman is…”

“No need,” Jalen interrupted him, his eyes cold. “You are too late.”

Saul had already taken care of everything. What was the point of Graham showing up

now?

nin

“I… I’m sorry, Mr. Halton. I got rear-ended on the road, so I was late.” Graham lowered his head, not daring to look into his boss’s eyes.

“Rear-ended?” Jalen frowned and had a guess.

Jalen thought, that bastard Saul was really doing everything he could to impress Elaina.

Feeling a little tired, Jalen rubbed the place between his eyebrows. “Enough. Let’s go

back.”

“What about the woman’s information?”

“Give it to the police.”
