Shirley Ryan’s face turned red instantly. She’s not a kid anymore, how could she not know what would happen if Harvey York hadn’t come to her rescue. Not knowing what to reply, she could only bite her lip.

“Harvey, I’m warning you, if you dare to touch me even once more I’ll have you locked up in jail for sure!” Jerry Zabel finally managed to get himself up unstably as he howled at Harvey.

Some live-in son-in-law, who’s looked down upon by everyone, washed the feet for his mother-in-law, cleaned the toilet of the house, dared to touch him. He’d had tons of ways to make Harvey begging for his life!

The next thing he knew, Harvey had already slapped Jerry right across the face hard as he became dizzy with a red mark burning on his cheek.

“You… dare to hit me…” Jerry was in full rage.

Shirley was all flabbergasted, rumours had it that after Harvey became the live-in son-in-law, he was bullied all the time by the Zimmers but however she looked at him right now, he seemed nothing but manly in her eyes…

Jerry, who was still shook up from the beating he got from Harvey, tried to calm himself down and spat on the floor. He glared in hatred at Harvey York as he fumbled for his phone. “You’re in total trouble, worthless sack of trash!”

After that, he furiously punched a series of numbers into his phone and made a call.

Harvey wasn’t at all disturbed by Jerry’s action, instead, he climbed onto the car and untied Shirley from the seat, only then he glared at Jerry. “Calling for backup? Sure, I’ll wait here and see who you can ask for help from!”

Shirley had a concerned look on her face as she tried to recenter herself, and whispered to Harvey, “Harvey, I think we should leave right away, Jerry got to know some big shot recently which is why he’s earning loads of money, that big shot is rumored to admire Jerry a lot, we don’t know what will happen if we triggered him!”

After saying all of that, Shirley got steamed up even more. She herself was an ordinary office worker with no prestigious background, which was why she couldn’t afford to displease people like Jerry.

And Harvey seemed to be in a worse condition than herself, a mere live-in son-in-law like him got himself into trouble because of her, what would they have to do?

“It’s okay, we were desk mates remember and how can I not help you? Plus, these are just small matters.” Harvey sat there being chilled as ever.

Shirley didn’t know whether to cry or laugh at that statement.

Last time during the old friends’ gathering, Shirley could already tell that Harvey didn’t even have a stand for himself in the Zimmers family, he even got a furious phone call from his mother-in-law just because he was late returning home.

With that pathetic situation of his, how could he even solve the issue later? It would be impossible for the Zimmers to lend a helping hand to him for those kinds of matters, they might even use this as an excuse to kick him out of the family.

With that in mind, Shirley peered at Harvey with a tinge of pity.

Fat droplets of tears streamed down her cheeks as she got more and more worried.

Right at that moment, someone on the other end of Jerry’s end of call finally picked up, all his vexation was instantly gone and replaced with utmost humility, and even with a slight bow even though no one could see him. “Mr Brooke, I’m beaten up by a piece of trash here, yes, I’m in the suburban area right now near the cemetery. Can you bring some people over here? Yes, yes, and even the girl you fancied is here with us…”

Hanging up the call, Jerry turned his head and watched Harvey closely and said, “You’re in deep trouble and do you know who Mr Brooke is? He’s the sole heir of the Brookes family, Kane Brooke!”

“I bet you, a poor little live-in son-in-law, don’t even know how influential he is!”

At the same time, he looked at Shirley with a pissed-off look. “And you slut, it was your luck to be fancied even by Mr Brooke, who would know you dared to reject him and quitted his company!”

“Do you know what you missed right before you? But it’s alright, tonight as Mr Brooke enjoys this juicy piece of meat, I would probably get to taste a few bites of you too! Later we’ll see how delicious you taste like, you whore!”

Taking in his words, Shirley turned as pale as sheets, she thought Jerry just wanted her for himself, who knew he’s actually one of Kane’s minions too.

Kane took advantage of a few female employees there with his title of being the Brookes sole heir, she got herself out of it by quitting her job there, who would’ve guessed that they’ll be seeing each other again this soon.

“Jerry, you bastard! You’ve lost your mind!” Shirley finally burst out yelling in exasperation.

“Ha ha! Scold me more for now, later you’ll be too tired to even utter a word anyway!”

“Ha ha ha ha!” Jerry Zabel howled with evil laughter.
