Harvey York's Rise to Power novel Chapter 46

Harvey York thought for a while and said, “I will go back later…”

“Is anything the matter?” Mandy Zimmer was curious. Her husband—the live-in son-in-law had never gone out in the past three years. What matter could he have?

Harvey thought for a while and said, “I’m going to work. What else could I do other than that?”

“What kind of job?” Mandy was a little relieved. This useless husband was finally willing to make some progress after three years.

Harvey shrugged and said, “I’m working as an assistant for the classmate who lent me the money. He returned to Niumhi recently. I came to help him buy a car just now.”

Mandy suddenly realized and asked curiously, “What does he do? If he’s working in the construction industry, maybe he can collaborate with our family.”

Mandy was a little anxious while speaking of this. She was afraid that Harvey would tell her that his classmate worked in the construction industry. After all, Mandy knew that she did not have any influence in the Zimmer family, let alone Harvey.

“It’s just a small investment company, and it isn’t good enough to compete in the market.” Harvey said casually. Although he wanted to disclose the truth for a split second, he felt that it was still not the right time after thinking about it carefully.

He noticed that Mandy had gradually changed her view of him in the past three years. She even had a slight affection toward him.

If possible, Harvey hoped that Mandy would like the current him. He did not want Mandy to treat him differently just because he had suddenly become rich again.

Mandy was sensible and she stopped asking after seeing Harvey hesitated to say anything more. She thought for a while and said, “Since you are working now, I will tell my mother later that you don’t need to do the house chores at home. We can just hire a nanny.”

“Okay, it’s your call.” Harvey nodded.

Mandy thought for a while. She suddenly stared at Harvey and said, “Harvey, let me ask you. That day when you were asked to be the hostage and the Zimmer family even treated you like that. Are you mad at us?”

“Of course,” Harvey said. He continued after seeing the slight change in Mandy’s expression, “But I’m not mad at you…”

“Why?” Mandy asked unconsciously.

“It’s because you are my wife.” Harvey rightly smiled. “Isn’t that what I'm supposed to do?”

Mandy’s face was a little ruddy when she heard his words. She did not know if she was shy or embarrassed.

The atmosphere between the two of them had become a little ambiguous.

At this moment, Mandy’s cell phone suddenly rang, breaking the atmosphere…

Mandy answered the phone a little awkwardly. She then said, “Harvey, I have to go back to the company to deal with something… Do you need a lift?”

“No, the place where I work is just nearby.” Harvey smiled.

“Alright then… Remember to come back for dinner tonight.” Mandy blushed and drove off after saying this. She never thought that she would ask Harvey to come home for dinner one day.

Harvey slightly smiled seeing the red Porsche driving away. Mandy might become his true wife soon.

Meanwhile, in the automotive city, Angel Quinn was afraid that Kevin Quinn would vent out the anger on her, so she found an excuse and sneaked off.

Although Kevin was a little angry, he remembered that he still had work to do. Thus, he ignored Angel at the moment. Instead, he gathered a group of senior executives in the company to line up outside the exhibition hall and wait for the arrival of the CEO of York Enterprise.

Several people’s legs were starting to sore after waiting for more than ten minutes. However, there was not a figure in sight.

“Why hasn’t he come yet? Could it be that he isn’t coming?” Kevin had some issues. The investment from York Enterprise was too important for his automotive city. If there was no such capital for the turnover of funds, his automotive city would have gone bankrupt in minutes.

He tried hard to be patient and quickly called Yvonne.

“Hello, is this Miss Xavier? Yes, yes. I’m Mr. Quinn—the CEO of automotive city. You told me in the morning that your CEO would like to visit our company and give us some guidance on our work.” Kevin said politely. He was still nodding and bowing although he was only talking through the phone. In York Enterprise, Miss Xavier said indifferently, “Yes, it’s been almost an hour since the CEO has gone there.”

“What? He’s already here? But why didn’t I see anyone?” Kevin was dumbfounded. “Miss Xavier, I don’t know what your CEO looks like and what car he drives. Do you mind giving his car’s plate number?”

Yvonne thought for a while and said, “Our new CEO is a modest man. Anyway, he is tall and thin. He looks like he is in his twenties. If you see someone riding on a tattered electric bike, that’s him.”
