Heart Hunting novel Chapter 141

At the lobby of the DK building.

Mrs. Murphy came to the company with bird’s nest soup happily. When she entered the building, the receptionist spotted it was Mr. Murphy’s mother so she quickly came over to her and greeted her, “Good morning, Mrs. Murphy!”

“I bring some bird’s nest soup for Poppy, my daughter-in-law-to-be. She came to the company this morning, right?”

Last night she overheard that they were coming to the company today so she prepared the soup secretly and brought here deliberately so as to tell everyone that Poppy as the wife of Mr. Kenny Murphy had been well accepted by Mrs. Murphy, Kenny’s mother.

The receptionists looked at each other understanding what Mrs. Murphy meant. One of them replied immediately, “Yes. Mr. Murphy is having a meeting and Ms Poppy Green is inspecting the departments.”

“Good. Poppy is excellent.” Mrs. Murphy talked proudly, revealing her fondness of Poppy

When Mrs. Murphy went upstairs, gossip erupted among them, “She is quite something. She even buys off Mrs. Murphy.”

“Be careful of your words. Just now, some employees from the public relations department have been punished on the spot when talking behind her.”

“Oh my god!” the receptionist immediately covered her mouth with her hands.

“As an attractive elite, she’s the apple of Mr. President’s eye with Mrs. Murphy’s recognition. She’s entitled to be arrogant.”

“All right. I’m done with this topic. I’d better get on my work.Otherwise, I’m the next one to be punished.” the other employees stopped gossiping. Gossip traveled fast. In just half an hour, everyone in the company all knew that Mrs Murphy had came to the company only to bring soup for Poppy Green who was gonna be her daughter-in-law.

Mrs. Murphy had been in the office for a while before Poppy came back. She was surprised to see Mrs. Murphy in her office, “Oh, hi, Mrs. Murphy. I didn’t expect you to be here.”

“You two came here without me,” said Mrs. Murphy.

Simon was also there, so Poppy smiled awkwardly and turned to him, “Simon, thank you for showing me around. You can go on with your work now.”

“Yes, Ma’am.”

When Simon went out, Mrs. Murphy took Poppy to sit on the sofa and brought her the soup, “Poppy, have some soup. I made it for you and Kenny.”

“Mrs. Murphy, we can have the soup when we are back home. You don’t need to travel a long distance to bring it here.” Poppy was moved. What should she do to deserve the love of Mrs. Murphy who treated her like her own mother.

“Whoa! It’s your first day in the company. I wanna give you my support.”

Poppy felt stunned hearing this. She was so touched, “Thank you, Mrs. Murphy.”

“Enjoy the soup!”

Poppy ate the soup silently because she was so moved that she couldn’t express through words.

Kenny had been away for half a month so he was back facing with piles of documents on his table and a full agenda of meetings. Poppy was in a good mood so she suggested, “Mrs. Murphy, shall we go shopping? I have something to buy.”

Mrs. Murphy agreed, “Sure! Let’s go. We’ll leave Kenny with his work.”

They left the DK building and got into the car. Mrs. Murphy asked, “Poppy, what do you need to buy?”

Poppy smiled profoundly, “Let’s go to the Wellness Pharmacy. I wanna buy some pills of ANP for someone in case they need it before they are pissed off to death.”

Mrs. Murphy was confused at her irony, “Who are they? Those from the Greens?” As far as she knew, Hilda Sanches was Poppy’s top enemy.

“Yep.” Poppy answered firmly with a serious look.

Mrs. Murphy still felt lost and then she thought of what happened to them abroad, “Poppy, what happened when you were abroad with Kenny?”

Poppy didn’t want to tell her the details so she just cut it short, “It was a long story, Mrs. Murphy. But Kenny was injured because of them.”

Mrs. Murphy didn’t reply at first but on a second thought, she understood what happened and felt raged that Hilda Sanches dared to set up her son and daughter-in-law-to-be, “Poppy, you are free to do whatever you want. I will always back you up. Don’t give them a break. Just let me know if you need anything.” Although she was not sure of what happened but she could tell that it was something terrible based on Kenny’s injury.

Poppy was amused at Mrs. Murphy who was adorable when behaving so seriously, “Please rest assured, i will not let off any of those evils. You can take part in it if time permits.” Of course Poppy had to hide it from Kenny.

Mrs. Murphy was passionate about it and nodded firmly, “Sure! Sure!”

They were at the Wellness Pharmacy. Poppy bought the ANP and Mrs. Murphy bought some bird’s nest and ginseng for Poppy and Kenny.

While at the same time in the Greens’ home, Ethel was waken up by her phone, who had been asleep and sitting around all day. She fetched her phone and got up reluctantly after looking at the phone number. “Hello!” she answered the phone with reluctance.

“Ms Ethel Green, shocking news.” It was called from a secretary working in Dakings Group’s President secretary room.

“What is it?” Ethel became excited when it came to Kenny.

“This morning, Mr. President Kenny came to the company with a lawyer named Poppy Green. They were so sweet walking into the company hand in hand.”

Ethel was so scared hearing this that she dropped her phone. Earth to her, she picked up her phone and asked nervously, “Are you sure she is Poppy Green?” It shouldn’t be her. She had died in New York.

“Absolutely. Mr. President Kenny had asked the general secretary to show her around. Even Mrs. Murphy had brought her the bird’s nest soup and claimed that Poppy Green was her daughter-in-law-to-be.”

“No way! How could this happen?” Ethel was so scared and couldn’t take the fact that Poppy Green who had been proved to be dead was still alive.

“Ms Ethel Green. I don’t need to lie to you. It has been all around the company that Poppy Green is Mr. President Kenny’s wife.”

“No way!” Ethel lost control of herself and shouted to the phone.

The secretary was scared, “Are you... are you all right, Ms Ethel Green?”

“Do you have any proof that she is Poppy Green?” She was driven mad by the news and looked pale.

“I took a picture secretly. It was her profile but you should recognize her.”

“Send it to me now.” Ethel demanded and hang up the phone nervously.

“Beep.” She got the picture and zoomed in to find it was really Poppy Green. She dropped her phone in scare. How could this happen? The killers said they had killed her for sure. How come she came back alive. No. There must be something wrong.

Ethel rattled out of her bed and staggered downstairs paying no attention to her appearance. She shouted to her mom, “Mom, we got a big trouble.”

Hilda Sanches was playing mahjong with friends. She heard her daughter and turned around to find her pale and mess. She was raged at her bad manner, “Ethel, look at you. Behave yourself.”

“Mom, we’ve got a big trouble.” Ethel came up to her and didn’t continue talking when seeing all the people around.

Hilda’s three friends looked at each other in silence and then said, trying to help Ethel out, “Don’t blame her. The young ladies are just like this including my girl.”

Hearing this, Hilda calmed down and said, “What’s the big deal? Look at you!”

Ethel couldn’t do anything but showed the picture on her phone to Hilda, “Mom, look. She’s back. She’s really back.”

Hilda zoomed in the picture and was terrified to find it was Poppy who she would never mistake. She apologized to her friends, “Sorry, i have something to attend to. Let’s play another time.” Seeing her facial expression, the three women stood up and left one by one.

When they all left, Hilda took Ethel to the sofa and sat down, “What happened?”

“Remember you asked me to bribe the people around Kenny? One of the secretary that i bribed was from the president’s secretary room and she sent me the picture. She told me that this morning Kenny had taken Poppy to the company and even Mrs. Murphy had brought soup for her.” Ethel was so jealous of Poppy that she wished to kill her. She asked anxiously, “Mom, what should we do?”

Hilda didn’t believe it, “This is impossible. Those killers had promised to kill her. How come...”

“Mom, just call them and check.”

Hilda looked pale. While dialing the number, she gnashed the teeth in anger, “They’d better not rip me of my money.” She kept dialing but no one answered.

Ethel asked anxiously, “Mom, how’s it going? Grandpa said those were skillful killers, weren’t they?”

Hilda smashed her phone angrily, “Damn it! They must have taken the money and screwed it.”

“Don’t bother to call. You can never hear from the dead.” Poppy talked loudly in the Greens’ home.

On hearing the voice, Hilda and Ethel turned around and were astonished to find Poppy standing right in front of them all good.

Hilda was so raged that she couldn’t even finish her words, “You...you...you...you didn’t...” And Ethel was standing there totally lost. She didn’t anticipate that Poppy would have escaped and come back alive.

Poppy was glad to see their black faces. She walked up to them proudly and said fiercely, “Angry, huh? I’m still alive.”

“Hahhahhah.....” Poppy laughed loudly and turned to Ethel, “Oh, no! You haven’t used your tricks on Kenny yet. You must be sad, huh?” She tapped on Ethel’s face and said ironically, “What a face full of hyaluronic acid! You can’t even tell whether it’s sad or not.”

Ethel was scared of Poppy’s sharp eyes. She had tried to kill her so many times but all failed. Ethel was horrified. She avoided Poppy’s touch and went to hide behind her mom.
