“I look like this now…” Hattie smiled bitterly, “And how long can I stay with him? What broke then is still broken now…”

“If he really loves you, he won’t care about such things.” Jensen said.

“But I care! I don’t want to appear in front of him like this. Actually, it is good that he doesn’t know what I have done. Just as well, everything is a mess now…” Hattie frowned.

“Will you think about yourself for once?!” Jensen suddenly became a little angry, “Is it so difficult to live for yourself?!”

“Don’t blame yourself for all of it. After all, you didn’t know.” Jensen sighed, “It’s just… why did you agree to get engaged to Rowan even after knowing everything?”

“You won’t believe me even if I tell you. When I found out the truth, immediately afterwards I received the news of your departure. I tried to chase you on the road but I got into a car accident. After I woke up, I thought Rowan was Hattie…” Greyson said with a wry smile.

Jensen lowered his eyes, “So, that is what happened…”

He pulled the corner of his mouth as he took out a letter from his pocket and handed it to Greyson, “I won’t go to the hospital anymore, and maybe we won’t see each other again. Take this letter to Hattie, this is my goodbye.”

Greyson stretched out his hand to take the letter, looked up at Jensen and then stretched out his hands again to give him a hug, “Thank you.”

“I only hope for Hattie’s happiness.” Jensen said, “Treat her better otherwise I will come back.”

“I won’t give you a chance to come back.” Greyson said with a smile, “Take care.”

Jensen nodded and turned to leave.

Hattie’s heart had been beating very fast since Jensen left.

It had been such a long time, why was he still not back?

Was he really angry?

She looked up in surprise, “Jensen…”

He opened his mouth but couldn’t say anything.

He approached her slowly with gentle steps, only to frighten her.

“Greyson! Don’t come over!” After recovering from the initial shock, Hattie wanted to get out of bed and run away.

“Hattie, I won’t hurt you. Don’t be afraid.” Greyson’s heart hurt even more as he took a few more steps forward and blocked her path, “I know everything. Sorry for coming so late, it is all my fault…”

“It’s not your fault, go back! This is not a place where you should be.” Seeing that she could no longer escape, she could only cover herself with her quilt, blocking her from view.

“The place where I should be is with you.” Greyson’s voice implied a smile. He reached out wanting to pull off her quilt and said in a helpless tone, “Don’t be like that, take it off.”

Hattie trembled and refused to take off the quilt.

With a little effort, she let go of the quilt. He helped her tidy up the quilt, then he suddenly reached out and hugged her, “I’m sorry for coming so late. I know I came too late.”
