Honey, I'll Make You a Star (Margaret and Charleston) novel Chapter 18

Chapter 18 Please Help Me

"Are you done? Now get out." Margaret felt her blood boiling inside her. She felt her vision starting to blur.

Stephanie's eyes lit up in joy upon seeing Margaret's reaction.

However, she hid it well. She walked towards Zachary and asked worriedly, "Zac, am I not doing good enough? Is Margaret still blaming me?"

"Stephanie, you're doing great. I believe she will eventually understand what you're doing for her." Zachary looked at Stephanie tenderly.

Stephanie's fake act made Margaret's head ache even more.

The man who vowed to be her one and only had ended up with Stephanie.

Her biological father would rather help an outsider, who he had no relationship with, than her.

All of a sudden, Margaret felt like a failure.

She wanted to escape from everything.

However, the drug's effects were setting in. Margaret took a heavy breath and stepped forward, but her legs became extremely weak. Before long, they gave out below her, causing her to fall forward.

Just as she thought she was going to make a fool of herself, she fell into somebody's embrace.

"Margaret." It was a deep, magnetic voice.

Margaret looked up and saw Charleston's charming face.

For some reason, the moment she saw him, she felt a sudden sadness envelop her. Her eyes were full of tears and she clutched Charleston's arm tightly. "Honey, you're here." She said.

Zachary and Stephanie was shocked at Charleston's appearance.

Did Margaret just call him honey? What was his relationship with her? They wondered.

Charleston's face couldn't be clearly seen under the bad lighting.

Zachary frowned. He had always thought that Margaret still loved him. He didn't think that she would be in an intimate relationship with another man.

"What happened?" Charleston stared at her affectionately.

Margaret's face was a shade of red that didn't seem normal. Her eyes also looked crimson, like eyes of a little white rabbit.

"Can you take me away from here? I'm so uncomfortable." Margaret looked at him pleadingly.

She was not sure whether Charleston would agree to help. After all, they didn't exactly have a great relationship with one another.

"Okay." Charleston nodded. He gently picked Margaret up, and left immediately with her in his arms.

Margaret was slightly dumbfounded by this. The faint smell of smoke lingering around Charleston inexplicably made her feel safe and at ease.

He touched Margaret's skin and it was piping hot. It made him worried that something bad would happen to her.

They were soon in the elevator.

Margaret felt a little embarrassed. "Mr. Limbaugh, you can put me down now." She said.

"No!" The man said smugly.

Margaret was speechless.

"Who were those two people just now?" Charleston asked.

"My younger sister and ex-boyfriend." A hint of darkness flashed across Margaret's eyes.

"Ex-boyfriend?" Charleston thought to himself.

Charleston's gaze suddenly turned cold and harsh. He lowered his head and glanced at Margaret.

Her cheeks were pink and delicate, and her skin was smooth and attractive to the human eye.

As Charleston looked at her, a feeling of uneasiness rose in his chest. "Have you been drugged?" He asked her.

Margaret nodded. Her eyes were watery, and she looked dreadful.

Charleston's pupils widened as he tried to keep his breathing steady.

He couldn't imagine what would happen if he didn't show up.

Charleston felt like killing somebody.

"I'll take you to the hospital." He comforted her.

"It's okay, I can go by myself... uh..." Margaret felt that even her bones had become numb.

Darkness pooled in Charleston's eyes as he said in a hoarse voice, "Be good and listen to me. I'll send you there."

"Okay..." Margaret nodded, feeling too dizzy to argue.

Charleston then called Larry. "Has the car been repaired?"
