Honey, I'll Make You a Star (Margaret and Charleston) novel Chapter 47

Chapter 47 Clean My Shoes

"Margaret?"

Margaret turned around subconsciously when she heard someone call her name.

"It's really you." A curly-haired woman in a tea dress walked towards her while holding the hem of her skirt.

Margaret's face looked doubtful. Who was this person?

She had no clue at all.

"Margaret, you don't remember me, do you? I'm Emilia, your high school classmate." The girl who claimed to be Emilia looked at her with irony in her beautiful eyes. "I didn't expect you to be a waitress here."

Margaret vaguely remembered her.

If not mistaken, she used to be an attractive girl in high school, though she was not as pretty as Margaret.

Margaret had always been the most eye-catching one in the room ever since she was a child. She was the well-deserved campus sweetheart.

"Is something the matter?" Margaret's voice was cold. She did not want to waste too much time here.

"We haven't seen each other in years but you are still as arrogant as ever." Emilia said jealously. "Back then, you did have the right to be arrogant since you were the eldest daughter of the Simons family. But you have been kicked out from the Simons family and you are working as a waitress here. I heard that when working in this profession, the men can't keep their hands to themselves - is that true?"

"If you're interested, you can find out for yourself." Margaret did not have the time to spend squabbling with her. She turned around and walked away.

Back when they were still in high school, the boys that Emilia liked all adored Margaret. So, her resentment and jealousy for Margaret had been steadily growing ever since.

Now that she had the chance to berate her, Emilia would not let her go so easily.

"Stop right there!" Emilia shouted at her sharply. "You're just a waitress while I'm the guest of this cruise party. Are you going to serve me with this attitude?"

"What do you want?" Margaret lowered her voice.

Many people around them looked over because of Emilia's voice.

Margaret did not want to cause any trouble. If Charleston found her, she would not be able to leave the cruise. Moreover, she would have to dance with him. By then, she would've been completely exposed to the crowd and inexplicably branded as his mistress.

"My shoes are dirty. Clean them." Emilia sat on a white wicker chair and crossed her legs.

She pointed her extremely clean silver high-heels at Margaret.

Her shoes were not dirty. She only wanted to insult Margaret.

She would be satisfied as long as Margaret obeyed her request and cleaned her shoes.

If Margaret protested, she could also complain to the management and get her fired. That way she would also be very happy.

Margaret took a silk handkerchief from the table and squatted down. She vigorously wiped at the dust-free high-heels. "Is this okay?"

"That's enough."

Margaret was about to get up when she felt a chill run down on her shoulder. "What are you doing?"

The glass filled with red wine in Emilia's hand was now half empty. Most of the wine had trickled down Margaret's back.

"Sorry, my hands trembled." Emilia sneered.

Nonsense. She did this on purpose.

"You can't even hold a glass properly. You might have a terminal illness; best to go get it checked." Margaret threw the silk handkerchief into the trash can and turned around to leave.

Upon hearing Margaret's words, Emilia's beautiful face twisted in anger. She glanced at the staff identification number on Margaret's bunny costume. Her gaze then fell onto the fist-sized pouch in Margaret's hand.

While Margaret walked down the stairs, Emilia found the person in charge of the party. She said, "Hello, I just saw a waitress dressed in a bunny costume acting odd. I suspect that she had stolen something from a guest on the cruise ship. Her staff identification number is..."
