Honey, I'll Make You a Star (Margaret and Charleston) novel Chapter 64

Chapter 64 What Happened That Year

"Charleston is Suanne's biggest investor?" Margaret repeated. The look in Margaret's eyes was incomprehensible.

Lacy did not notice the change in Margaret's mood as she was filled with excitement. She said, "I really envy her for being able to be with Mr. Limbaugh."

"Really?" Margaret took a good look at Lacy and continued, "Do you want me to introduce you to Suanne then?"

The look on Lacy's face immediately changed. She said, "No, no, no. Margaret, I was just thinking out loud for a moment. I just wanted her to help you after knowing that you two are classmates."

Relying on connections was indeed the best and fastest way to get to the top in the entertainment industry.

Besides, if she depended on Suanne, it meant that she would be depending on the Limbaugh Group behind her.

What a tempting step to take!

Lacy indeed said all this for Margaret's sake.

But Margaret did not need someone to think for her like that.

"I don't need anyone's help." Margaret said as she shot Lucy a sarcastic smile.

She may look delicate and beautiful, but her tone was heavily tinged with determination.

What a contrast.

Lacy could only gaze at Margaret with stars of amazement in her eyes.

"Indeed!"

"Right, I'll be heading out later. You don't have to follow me." Margaret said softly.

Lacy nodded.

Margaret saved Lacy's number, so she could contact her anytime something came up.

Margaret left Galaxy Entertainment and came to the coffee shop the two had agreed to meet at.

As Suanne was a celebrity, she had to ask for a private room.

When Margaret pushed the door open, she saw Suanne sitting at the table.

"Margaret." Suanne said with a smile when she saw Margaret.

Margaret gave her a nod and sat opposite her. She opened her mouth and asked, "What's the matter?"

"What's your relationship with Mr. Limbaugh?" Suanne stared at Margaret.

Margaret answered with a smile, "We're just friends..."

Margaret paused for a moment. She suddenly thought of something and asked, "We haven't seen each other in years. Don't you have anything else to ask me?"

Suanne could sense Margaret was trying to pry something out of her through her eyes. She got an idea, so she asked back, "Like what?"

"Like, about what happened four years ago..."

Margaret trailed off.

After all, she covered for Suanne four years back. Then, the latter ran off without speaking to Margaret again.

"Speaking of this, something did happen at that time. The manager told me that I was negligent - did you suddenly leave because something came up? The security cameras were under maintenance at the time, so they didn't capture anything!" Suanne watched Margaret's expression under careful eyes.

As expected, Margaret's expression fell.

"Something did happen."

"What happened? Can you tell me?"

"It's all in the past. There's nothing much to say." Margaret did not want to talk about the past anymore.

Suanne understood and nodded. She then asked, "By the way, are you planning to join the entertainment industry?"

"Yes."

"So, were you with Mr. Limbaugh before because you wanted to join Haver Entertainment under the Limbaugh Group?"

"No, I already have a contract with another company. I only met Mr. Limbaugh a few times after coming back here," Margaret answered calmly.

Only met him a few times after coming back?

Suanne raised her eyebrows and felt a little overwhelmed by this.

Did this mean that Margaret did not know that the person from for years ago was Charleston?

This was great news.

Suanne calmly curled her lips and said, "That's a pity. If you join Haver Entertainment, Mr. Limbaugh will definitely treat you well since you're a friend of mine."
