House Of Legions (The Angel Descendants book 1) novel Chapter 78

Nadia stood there not saying anything, which grew on Clare’s nerves, not only was her leg in pain, but now she was probably going to have to play peacekeeper by the way the two exchanged looks.

Nikolai blurted out, “Oh for the sake of time, she had sex with Caidrian and paid me to help him forget, sorted, now change, let’s go.”

Clare dropped the bag on the floor, ”WHAT?” Her jaw fell, she hadn’t expected this, “YOU SLEPT WITH MY DAD?”,

Clare grabbed her hair and tied it up then started taking her clothes off quickly without thinking that Nikolai was still there.

He turned his back to her, she saw it and smiled at his action, other guys would have looked. His eyes staring seriously into the sky, like his years on the earth had sucked all his life source away, tainted by agelessness.

Clare shouted at Nadia, she was furious, “I could just KILL you Nadia, but right now I’m just going to pretend that I didn’t hear any of this.” She gave Nadia one last grave look, “I’m done, let’s go.”

Nadia thinned her lips, and flared her nose, “Will he be joining us tomorrow?” she said pointing at Nikolai,

Clare replied, “No, he is just a drunk like you said.”

He cleared his throat without facing them.

She looked at Nikolai when he yelled loud enough for Clare to hear him “Let me fix your leg.”

There was silence between the three of them, the stillness of the night and the sparks of light glimmering between their vision. The stars sparkling, unaffected by the intense circumstances which lay before Clare, like the diamonds they were. Clare inhaled deeply, taking in the air, the pain was bearable. Clare knew it would heal, but hidden in her, was the need to have someone care for her. It made her nervous when a person showed any interest in her, but now it was worse, probably her hormones, she thought carefully before she answered, “Fine, if you want to.”

Nikolai turned to her and walk the distance until he stood in front of her, he stared thoughtfully, “I suppose I am lost for words.”

Nadia answered, “Maybe you were going to tell Clare that she's looking gorgeous.”

“No.” He shook his head, “That’s not it, actually blue, is not your colour Love, and you should remove the bra, straps are vulgar.”

She surprisingly started laughing, “Thanks for the honesty, are you gonna fix my knee?”

She bent down slowly on the floor, falling straight on her butt, Nikolai had his hand already holding her waist to ease her gently down, “Wow, you have speed,”

He caught her eyes on him as he lifted her dress to reveal her knee with his one hand, whilst his other hand, loosely nestled on her back.

Clare’s bones felt like crumbling, he was gently touching the skin of her leg, slowly gliding the dress higher up, moving it up to her thigh, her heart thumping uncontrollably.

He looked normal, not nervous like he had mastered it. He closed his eyes and smiled, “Hormones, Love.”

Clare jerked her leg out of his hand, he took it back, grabbing her leg with a firmer grip, pulling it closer to him, with an edge of roughness, that made her moan silently with pain.

Keeping his eyes closed, he said loudly, “Be still.”

His hand started flaming up, like the fire burned through his skin, and slowly burning out, leaving his hand red and hot to the touch. She could see the veins in them as he placed the said hands on her knee, his touch gentle, but not delicate, it had a hardness to it, and heat, lots of heat.

Clare could feel the hotness penetrating through the skin of her knee, accompanied by a soothing sensation. As his hand cooled, the pain in her knee subsided. She pulled her knee away again and said in a soft tone not even she recognized “Thank you, for that.”

Nadia who was quiet, coughed out, “You two clearly need a room, this is just creepy.”

Clare defensively blurted “He was fixing my leg.”

Clare checked her cellphone, as she got up “It’s eight-thirty!”

She turned to talk to Nikolai, but he was already gone, “Which way did he go,”

“He’s a dick, he does that just to show off, you won’t get used to it.”

Clare gave Nadia a sarcastic look, “Like you sleeping with my dad?”

Nadia pulled Clare’s arm, “look, get over it, we go on suicidal missions, we are hunted by demons and Tempters all that time. If you aren't focused we going to die, so pull your finger out your ass, people have sex, deal with it.”

She stormed off, Clare marching after her, “But you made him forget.”

“Well it was complicated, we do stupid things sometimes when we aren’t thinking.”

“Bitch, I don’t like you.”

Nadia shot her a frightening look “Clare when you get over it let me know,” she walked faster and was out of sight.

Clare walked alone again passing the Masonner’s house, turned the corner road to the crafts shop and walked further up the hill. She saw a boat, just aimlessly floating on the water, with a man whom she recognized instantly, “Alonso!”

He beamed at her, “Ay, Clare, looking hot. Come on your brothers waiting.”

She walked up to the boat, Alonso was wearing blue jeans, and a light purple shirt, loosely buttoned at the bottom only, showing off his ripped chest. He jumped out and hugged her tightly, “The party is blowing, I mean literally, and Kalbreal is drunk, so I would keep my distance.”

She sighed “Ok, Angels drinking, that’s a first, how did you get stuck on boat duty?”

He laughed “Oh yes, Kalbreal drinks the hot stuff. Honey, this is my boat, your brother said you’ll be here shortly, thought I’ll just save him the wait.”

Alonso looking a little drunk himself, looked at him carefully “Okay, shall we go?”

He warned her jokingly “Just mind my house it’s all messy, I’m hoping the Casters will help fix that in the morning, oh and congrats on getting your memory back how does it feel?”

She inquired, “Your house? Are you a Jakenson?”

He replied, starting the speed boat engine, “Yes, Alonso Jakenson.”

She confessed, standing next to him, as the boat docked off, “I don’t really have all of it back.” She yelled louder, “I could remember some stuff, but unfortunately I’m still quite lost in the Lightwatcher’s book of 101.” She asked as an afterthought, “Isn’t your name Alonsoleus?”,

“Yes,” He paused, turning the wheel of the boat, his hair blowing all over the place, “but didn’t your brother explain to you why we shouldn’t say our full names?”

“No, he didn’t, why is it a curse?” She went close to his side as the boat slashed at the water, “Nothing will surprise me at this point.”

He sighed, naughtily at her, “Much better, say your full name and see for yourself.”

She felt a bit nervous, but did as he asked, “Gabriella Moonstone.” She waited patiently, but nothing happened, “Is something freaky supposed to happen because it’s not.”

She said her name again, mindful that the boat slowed down, “Gabriella Draiken.” But nothing happened,

Alonso gave her an awkward look, “Ok, watch this,” he put the boat off and they stopped in the centre of the water, “Alonsoleus Jakenson,” his eyes lit up just like her mothers had, the day she died, only much dimmer.

Clare took a step back, “Woah, that's impressive,” his eyes came back to normal. “So what sort of weapon is that?”

He laughed at her, “It’s your true self, you just activate the Angel side of you. What you can do with it, is up to you, we all have different gifts and strengths. Some of us have legacies, the ones with them have brighter lights like your mother.”

She nodded, “Just like a wingless Angel with an off and on switch.”

“You can say that.”
