Ice and Fire novel Chapter 173

Cherry then took out her cell phone and dialled Jackson's number.

The call was quickly connected.

"Baby, " said Jackson gently.

Cherry asked immediately, "Where are you?"

"I'm at the military residential compound, " said Jackson in a calm and gentle manner.

Cherry thought for a moment, and said, "I can't go there; could you please come to me? I have something to talk with you."

"Okay, " said Jackson. He heard that Cherry's voice was husky, and guessed that she must have cried. He continued, "Go to the hotel where we met last time. I'll wait for you there, in the same room."

"Got it, " said Cherry, and after that she hung up.

She then drove straight to the hotel.

After she arrived, she went straight to the room and found that its door was open; she knew that Jackson had already arrived.

After Cherry took a deep breath she entered.

Jackson was sitting on the sofa when he saw Cherry come in. He then stood up cheerfully and walked up to her, and while he was dotingly stroking her hair, asked, "Honey, how are you doing?"

Cherry didn't give feedback to his tenderness, but instead seriously stared at him and asked, "Where's my sister?"

The atmosphere in the room suddenly changed. Jackson's face gradually went cold and dark, and he stared back at Cherry.

"Why are you asking me this question?" asked Jackson gloomily.

"I just want to know where she is." Cherry started to become a little distressed. She stared at Jackson, and slowly and clearly asked him, "My sister is still alive, isn't she?"

Jackson didn't answer her at first because he didn't know how to tell her about it. He hadn't killed Jean, but his punishment was almost as cruel as killing her. He had spared Jean's life because he loved the woman that was standing in front of him too much.

"Tell me! Where's my sister?" asked Cherry as she frantically started to grab Jackson's clothes.

Jackson didn't know what to do anymore when he saw Cherry's hysterical reaction.

After some time, Jackson asked, "What have you found out?"

Jackson wanted to tell Cherry only half of the story of what happened to Jean, because he thought that if she knew everything then she might not be unable to bear it. Jackson knew her very well, and even though she hadn't been on the best of terms with Jean in the past, she still regarded her as being her relative.

"I don't know what happened, I don't know anything!" said Cherry as she shook her head. She continued, "What the hell have you done to her? Where is she now? Tell me!"

When Jackson heard that Cherry didn't know anything, he decided that he wouldn't tell her anything about it.

"Honey, don't worry. She's still alive, " said Jackson. He tried to comfort her with ambiguous words.

He hadn't expected Cherry to be so furious. "Is she really okay? Have you really done nothing to her? It doesn't seem to fit your method of handling things!" said Cherry in a clearly suspicious tone.

Jackson also started to be annoyed when he saw that Cherry was so aggressive. "What do you think I've done to her? She wanted to kill you, and if it weren't for Emily you would have been dead now! Do you really think that I would let her off the hook so easily?" said Jackson furiously.

Cherry yelled at Jackson, "It doesn't matter, she's still my sister!"

"You've been treating her as your sister, but what about Jean? Has she ever regarded you as her little sister?" Jackson became so angry that he also started to shout at Cherry.

"Jackson, that's my business! Starting from today, I'll never allow you to hurt anyone around me!" said Cherry in a very determined driven manner.

Jackson gnashed his teeth in anger, and slowly and clearly said, "Don't worry, I'm sure that I'll always take care of your business!"

After that, Jackson continued, "Jean is lucky to still be alive, but…whether she can live a normal life depends only on her own capabilities of adapting herself to her current situation."

When Cherry saw the anger in Jackson's eyes, she couldn't help but suddenly burst into tears. She thought to herself, 'It seems that I indeed know so little about him. I don't know what he's done; he made the Shen Group go bankrupt, and took his revenge on Jean...I didn't know any of these things before.'

Cherry suddenly loosened her grip on Jackson's clothes and stepped back a few steps, but she lost her balance and fell to the ground. She didn't stand up on her feet again, but instead just remained on the ground with her head lowered and weeping.

Jackson was very distressed when he saw Cherry's trembling body. Upset, he thought, 'She's sobbing and it's all because of me. I promised that I will protect and take good care of her, but now…'

He then slowly approached her, squatted and tightly held her into his arms from behind.

Jackson then whispered into Cherry's ear, "Honey, calm down, please. It doesn't matter what I've done to Jean, she deserved it. You know exactly what she's done to you. She's such a vicious woman, and she has done too many bad things that she isn't worth caring about." Jackson then paused for a moment, and continued to say, "Harrison on the other hand, I've already ordered Bobby to find him. I think that it won't take long for us to find out some news about him."

Cherry was consoled a bit by Jackson's words. In her heart, she still cared about Jackson a lot, and she knew that his words were reasonable and true. Jean had done so many bad things to her that she would never forget about them, and it was indeed hard for her to forgive her. When it came to Harrison, however, although he had also treated her badly, he still had a chance at her forgiveness one day.

At that moment, Cherry buried herself in Jackson's arms, and just wanted to be a tender and obedient woman to him. She knew that she couldn't be wilful with him any longer.

Cherry slightly turned her head, and as she faced her husband, she obediently said, "Jackson, I believe you, and your words."

Jackson's fury faded away in an instant when he saw that Cherry had finally calmed down and become reasonable again. He tenderly said to her, "Baby, please remember that I love you and that I'll protect you all my life."

Cherry kept silent and didn't say anything.

At that time, Jackson's cell phone suddenly rang. Jackson looked at it and saw that it was Bobby.

Cherry also saw the name of Bobby on the screen. She rapidly turned to Jackson, and in a thrilled tone asked, "Is there any news of my father?"

Jackson didn't answer her question immediately and instead answered the phone, expectant.

"Speaking, " said Jackson.

"Mr. Jackson, I've found out Mr. Harrison's whereabouts, " said Bobby in a calm and indifferent manner.

When Cherry heard Bobby's voice in the phone, she quickly freed herself from Jackson's arms and anxiously looked at him, waiting for the news with great anticipation.

"Where is he now?" asked Jackson.

"He's been working as a porter at a logistics company. The company also offered him a place to live, " said Bobby.

Jackson saw Cherry's anxious face and knew that she must have also heard him.

"Okay, got it. Text me his detailed address to my phone, " and after his order, Jackson hung up.

Cherry couldn't control herself anymore, and suddenly stood up and wanted to leave immediately.

Jackson grabbed her by the arm and asked, "Where are you going?"

"I'm going to see him, I'm going to see him..." Cherry couldn't control herself and repeated these words again and again, and couldn't seem to calm herself down. She hadn't seen Harrison for more than five years, but she would have never expected him to be working as a porter. From being the CEO of the Shen Group and to be reduced later to a mere porter, Cherry wondered how he had fallen so low?
