Ice and Fire novel Chapter 231

Cherry and Jackson joined their son for breakfast. Joe squinted at Cherry and Jackson from time to time while he ate. He was very curious to know what his parents discussed last night. They looked the same, so it seemed that nothing had happened.

After breakfast, Cherry asked Jackson, "Would it be okay if I drove Joe to school today?"

Jackson was not surprised, he knew Cherry was worried, "Just let Bill drive him. Don't worry, everything will be fine." Jackson reassured her.

Cherry didn't give up though, and instead she stubbornly said, "I want to drive him to school myself. I won't be late for work, even if I drive him to school."

Cherry was determined, and Jackson found that himself agreeing unable to refuse her.

In the car, Joe watched his mom, wanting to ask her what had happened yesterday, but he didn't know how to start the conversation.

Looking at her son in the rearview mirror, Cherry saw he was about to say something, but then stopped. She knew something was on his mind, so she then stopped the car not far from his school.

Cherry turned around and looking at her son asked, "Joe, is there something that you wanted to ask Mommy about?"

Since his mom had guessed his thoughts, Joe nodded asking, "Mommy, could you please tell me who that woman I met yesterday is? Do you know her?"

Cherry had no intentions of concealing anything from her son, "Joe, " Cherry started, "The woman you met yesterday is your Mommy's elder sister, your aunt, but…"

Cherry paused looking away from her son's face, "Before you were born, Mommy and Daddy had a fierce quarrel with your aunt, " Cherry told him.

Joe listened to his mom's words, and seemed to understand why the woman had talked to him in such an evil sounding manner.

Joe could not forget her last words to him yesterday and thought, 'She told me that she would not let my mommy go. Will she hurt mommy? Is my mommy in danger?'

Cherry grabbed her son's arms, looked at him and said gravely, "Joe, you must remember what mommy is telling you now. From now on, you can't go anywhere with any strangers, and you can only leave school when Daddy, Mommy or Bill come to pick you up. When you are at school, you must be alert too. Do not talk to any adults, except your teachers. Will you remember that?"

Joe knew his mom was afraid that something bad might happen and worried about him, "Yes mommy. Don't worry. I have remembered your words well. I won't talk to or leave with any strangers, " Joe obediently told his mom.

"Good, Mommy is going to buy you a cell phone tomorrow. If anything happens, you can just call Mommy or Daddy. Clear?" There was a nervous tone to Cherry's voice, and she felt very uneasy.

"Okay, okay, mommy. Don't worry. Don't you realize, your son is as smart as a whip? I can take good care of myself, " said Joe proudly, a look of strength gleamed as he sat up straighter in his seat.

Cherry felt a little relieved after she heard his words. She looked lovingly at her son and was quite sure he was smart enough to take good care of himself.

Cherry started the car again and drove her son to school. She parked the car at the gate of the school and didn't leave until she saw Joe walk into the building.

But Cherry hadn't noticed that a black car parked not far away from her. Jean was in the car and watched Cherry until she pulled away.

Jean's eyes were full of hatred. She thought to herself, 'How can Cherry be so happy? Why is she so lucky to have a son with Jackson? What's more, their son is so cute. Even as children, she would win first place no matter what we did together. I'm so jealous and couldn't hate her more. She ran away from Jackson five years ago, and I thought she would never come back. But, at last, she came back and worse, she brought their son! How could she and Jackson be so happy while I'm in such a miserable situation? I can never forget what they did to me, and I will never let them go. At first, I just planned to return to seek revenge on Cherry and Jackson, but now, their son is my target too. The game of revenge has only become more interesting.'

She was still glaring as she started her car and sped off.

Jean drove to Stephen's bar. She parked the car, got out and went into the bar.

When one of the waiters saw her, he greeted her politely, "Nice to see you."

"Where is Stephen?" Jean said coldly in an arrogant manner.

"Mr. Stephen is in his office, " the waiter responded politely.

Jean ignored him, heading straight to Stephen's office.

She didn't knock on the door or wait; instead, she rudely pushed the door open and walked in.

Stephen was sitting on the sofa, looking at his cell phone when she barged in. He looked surprised to see her and asked, "What are you doing here?"

"What? I can't come here? How long do you plan on hiding me from the public? I can't stand this any more!" Jean arrogantly told him, her eyes filled with anger.

As Jean finished talking, Stephen stood up, grabbed her arm and said, "Go to a private room with me. We can't talk here."

As he chided her, Stephen led her out of his office and to a private room.

Jean didn't struggle. She knew it was not wise for her to challenge him any further.

Stephen pushed Jean into the room and told the waiter that was headed over, "No one is allowed to come near this room, do I make myself clear?"

"Yes, Mr. Stephen, " responded the waiter respectfully.

Stephen went into the private room and closed the door.

"Stephen, are you afraid?" Jean asked as she sat on the sofa. She stared defiantly at him as she lit a cigarette and inhaled.

"Jean, you are asking for trouble if you dare act without my permission and I will definitely not let you go!" Stephen reminded her as he glared at her furiously.
