Ice and Fire novel Chapter 283

Cherry then came closer to Jackson and softly laid on his lap while she was tightly embraced by him. She then turned around and looked at the computer, and it just displayed the stock market exchanges.

Jackson lowered his head and looked at Cherry, and then asked, "How were things in the company today? Are you tired?"

"No, not so tired. I just helped Selina deal with some trivial matters because she had to meet with several foreign friends of hers. Then I went to see a customer and signed the contract with him in the afternoon, " replied Cherry.

Jackson thought, 'Selina started dealing overseas business in such a short time! It seems that the little girl's ability is immeasurable!'

"That's good! Just don't get too tired, or I'll feel sad for you!" said Jackson, with his head close to Cherry's ear.

Cherry smiled, and said, "I'm not tired at all. How could I ever get tired in such a relaxing position?"

Jackson didn't say a word, and instead affectionately kissed Cherry's ear.

"By the way, why did Grandpa go to the neighbor to play chess in such a late hour?" suddenly asked Cherry.

Jackson tenderly replied, "He has nothing to do at home and always feels bored, so it's good for him to spend some time with his old friends. We're too busy to have time for him, but he may have fun when he stays or chats with those of his age."

Cherry nodded, and said, "Okay, I was just wondering why I didn't see anyone around the house except Joe after I got back home."

"What about me? Whose arms do you think you're in?" Jackson's eyes were burning when he looked at Cherry, and he always couldn't help himself approaching her when he was with her alone.

Cherry then slightly pushed him away when she saw that he was getting closer to her. She said, "Come on, stop it, okay? We're in the study, we'll have dinner in a minute, and it's also inappropriate if Grandpa comes back and sees what we're doing in here!"

"Why not? Is it odd that a husband wants to be intimate with his wife?" asked Jackson.

"That's not what I meant, " replied Cherry. Because she didn't know how to dissuade him from flirting with her, she thought for a while, and then said, "Let's do it in our room later at night, okay? We need to go downstairs now, and you'll go to our neighbor and ask Grandpa to come for dinner. I'll go to the kitchen to see if the food is ready."

Jackson looked at Cherry and had to agree with everything that she said. It was his greatest happiness to indulge in her.

Joe was still watching TV in the living room when Jackson and Cherry came downstairs. Cherry said to him, "Joe, turn off the TV and go to tell your Great-Grandpa to come back home for dinner with your Daddy."

"Okay, " replied Joe. He then turned off the TV and went close to his Daddy, and as he held his father's hand, he looked at him and said, "Let's go, Daddy."

Jackson looked at his lovely son and then walked out of their house with a big grin on his face.

After dinner, the butler helped Andrew go back to his room to rest, and Joe went into his to do his homework. Cherry then looked at Jackson, and said, "Jackson, let's go for a walk, I don't want to go to sleep so early."

"That sounds great!" replied Jackson.

Cherry and Jackson then walked out of their house.

They strolled hand in hand inside the park.

"Honey, " suddenly said Jackson.

"Eh?"

"Is there something bothering you?" asked Jackson.

"No, I just wanted to take a walk with you and breath some fresh air, " said Cherry, and as she looked at the starry sky, her mind was at ease. Even though the air was a little bit chilly and the breeze was blowing, she still enjoyed the stillness of the night.

All of a sudden, Jackson stopped walking. He looked at Cherry, and said, "Honey, don't let anything from work or daily life to tire you or bother you too much, okay? No matter what happens, you just have to tell me and I'll deal with it, okay?"

Cherry then suddenly passed her hands across Jackson's arms, and as she smiled, she said, "I know, being with you is my greatest happiness."

Jackson held Cherry tight in his arms, and as he put down his head on Cherry's shoulder, he said to her ear, "Me too! You're everything to me in this world!"

"Jackson, " suddenly said Cherry.

"What?"

"What do you think our future will be like? Will we live as calmly as we do now? We'll stay with Grandpa and take good care of Joe, and we'll live a happy life as a whole family, " said Cherry. That was her expectation for the future, but she was afraid that something bad would happen soon and shatter all of her dreams.

Jackson paused for a moment before he said to Cherry, "We will, and our family will be indeed happy together."

Jackson was actually lacking confidence in his words, because he knew that Mond was in the city and that Sally and Stephen were also around him. How could he possibly put his mind at rest with those three characters around him, especially with Mond?

Jackson then thought about his Grandpa, and he knew that he was relying on his drugs to keep him alive. Although Andrew had always tried to conceal that information from him, Jackson had already found out about it when he saw the medicine in his Grandpa's bedside table drawer. What was he to do if his Grandpa passed away one day? Would he lose his mind? Would he cry out hysterically? His Grandpa was his closest relative, excepting Cherry and Joe. He didn't want his closest relative to leave him one day, and he wanted to stay with him forever, but how could he control matters such as birth, death, illness and old age?

Cherry stayed at Jackson's chest and felt the warmth of his arms, while also feeling the atmosphere of the night. She just wanted to stand still and embrace her favorite person under the starry sky above her.

After some time, Jackson thought that it was getting late, so he said to Cherry, "Let's go back home, it's late."

"Okay, " replied Cherry.
