Ice and Fire novel Chapter 308

Andrew smilingly looked at Joe and said, "You haven't had breakfast, have you? Let's go and get some breakfast together. After that you should go to school."

"Okay, " Joe agreed, he was very happy to have his Great-grandfather back home. The two generations walked hand in hand towards the dinning hall, with the young boy chattering away like a robbin.

Jackson and Cherry looked at each other and followed them into the dining hall.

After breakfast, Cherry drove her son to school. Andrew went outside with them to wave goodbye. He kept an eye on Cherry and Joe and didn't move his gaze until the car's image faded from the courtyard.

He then turned and walked into the house. He saw that Jackson was standing in the living room.

"Jackson, are you free this morning?" Andrew asked. He wanted to talk to Jackson about something important. Something that he could no longer ignore nor put off.

"Sure, I'm free at this moment. What's up?" replied Jackson. He felt that Andrew had something important to tell him, but he was not sure as to what it was about. When he saw the serious look in Andrew's eyes, he felt a little worried.

"Come to the study and I have something to ask you." said Andrew, in a calm tone. He then proceeded to go up the stairs.

Jackson paused for a second and then followed the old man to the study.

The butler placed Andrew's medicine in the drawer at the bedside table of Andrew's room and stepped out. He saw Andrew and Jackson enter the study, he wondered what was going on?

In the study, Andrew was sitting behind the desk and Jackson stood beside him, silently observing him.

Andrew tried to calm his emotion and with a cold voice asked, "How did Cherry know about Mond?"

This question took Jackson by surprise. He was not expecting this. He sighed, shook his head and answered, "I don't know. When she asked me about Mond, I too was surprised."

"No one told her?" asked Andrew. He seemed to be very worried.

Jackson thought for a while and replied, "No one should tell her. I don't think either Sally or Stephen has done that."

With doubts in his mind, Andrew wondered how did Cherry know it.

Andrew remained silent and changed the subject. "How was the party last night?" he asked. Did you see him?"

"Yes, " replied Andrew, calmly. He then continued, "He's changed, he is all grown up."

Andrew sighed softly and said, "That's to be expected, many years have passed. Did you know it when he came back?"

Hearing the question, Jackson thought for a while and honestly answered, "I didn't. But now he's been back for quite some time now. And things have changed."

"What happened?" asked Andrew, while looking at Jackson. He was starting to feel uneasy with Jackson's words.

"Sally and Stephen are all under the control of Mond." said Jackson in a serious tone. He looked into Andrew's eyes and continued, "And Jean as well."

"Has he stayed in touch with Stephen and Sally all this time?" asked Andrew. His voice was starting to show impatience, he immediately wanted to know the answers to the questions that had been bothering him.

Jackson nodded and said, "Grandpa, I am afraid that we made a mistake."

"Spit it out!" ordered Andrew authoritatively.

"Remember the time when you gave Mond a big sum of money and asked him to live and remove himself away from this place? But he didn't obey." said Jackson. "During that same time something happened to He family and An family. We arranged a place for Sally, and now Mond somehow got involved with her."

Andrew couldn't believe his ears, he didn't want to believe what he was hearing. He looked at Jackson and asked, " You mean John is taking care of Sally these past years?"

"Yes, " Jackson answered with a nod.

Andrew furiously pounded the desk trying to control his anger. "What about Stephen?" He asked.

"There's nothing about Stephen that Mond could interfere in. But since Stephen hates me so much, it makes sense that the two now work together to fight against me." said Jackson. He knew that Andrew understood what he meant.

"I once thought that after I gave him a big sum of money, he would live a peaceful and prosperous life and stay away from us. I didn't expect that he would still appear and stand against to us." Andrew said angrily.

Seeing the anger on Andrew's face, Jackson was worried that this situation was causing him so much stress and that his health might be affected. He calmed himself and said, "Grandpa, don't worry about it! I've suspected this earlier and I now know what to do."

"No." said Andrew, in a furious voice, "I must do something now. Mond is a threat to the Chu Family."

"No, you can't do it!" opposed Jackson immediately. He had never resisted Andrew's words before but this time he had no choice.

"Grandpa, leave it to me. I am worried that things will be worse if you get involved." reasoned Jackson.

"I'm going to see how hostile he is to us and how capable he is!" said Andrew. His eyes were full of rage and fury making his sight frighting to see.

From Andrew's expression, Jackson could tell that he was truly angry. But once Andrew did something to Mond, he would not be able to control the situation. Things get worse and this may harm Cherry, Joe, JS Group and Selina. Things would be in chaos, way beyond his imagination.

So he walked beside Andrew, gently held his hands and in a calm tone, said, "Grandpa, calm down."

Andrew didn't say a word and just sat on the chair quietly.

Jackson then continued, "Grandpa, let me handle everything. Trust me I can handle it. Mond will not cause harm to the Chu Family, he will not be a threat." He was sure that he was not doing this to protect Mond. He knew that once Andrew got involved, all his plans would all be destroyed. Andrew's action would only disrupt the peace that the family was now enjoying. He could settle this matter regarding Mond in a more discreet manner.

Andrew looked at Jackson and didn't know what to do. He couldn't let go of whoever or whatever threatening the Chu Family, but his beloved grandson was pleading him not to get involved, to trust him that to settle this matter his own way.

After a while, Andrew said, "Jackson, I trust you! You must protect our family, protect Cherry and Joe. Especially Joe, he is our family's next generation and you must guarantee that nothing wrong will happen to him."

Jackson firmly nodded his head. He looked into Andrew's eyes and in a serious voice, said, "I will."

Andrew didn't say another word.

Jackson knew that Andrew would not get involved any more. He thought, 'Everything is now under my control. Even if there are any changes, I can handle it."

"Did Cherry meet him last night?" asked Andrew.

"Yes. But Cherry cared more about Jean at that time, so she had much time to talk to him." replied Jackson.

Andrew nodded and said, "It is unavoidable for them to meet each other, it was bound to happen now or in the future, since he is now back. You must take care and avoid letting them meet each other as much as possible, this from happening. I am worried that he would harm you and the people who are important to you."

What Andrew said was exactly what Jackson was worried about! What he had always been worried about, that Mond would do something bad to Cherry and his son. Andrew's words reminded him: now, more than ever, he needed to be more cautious and careful!

"Okay, I got it, Grandpa!" said Jackson. He didn't want to show Andrew how worried he was. He was afraid of Andrew's health. 'You just have a rest and let me handle everything.' Thought Jackson to himself.
