Ice and Fire novel Chapter 313

Cherry then said to Selina, "Selina, can I borrow your phone?"

Selina gave her phone to Cherry, and said, "Here you are. I'll go get two cups of coffee."

Cherry nodded to her, and after she saw that Selina walked into the tea room, she went to the sofa and sat down on it. She then dialled Jackson's number on Selina's phone.

Jackson's voice soon came from the other end of the line. "Hi, Selina!"

"It's me, Cherry."

Jackson replied surprisedly, "Honey! Are you back at the JS?"

"Yeah, I just got back earlier and Selina told me to call you, " said Cherry.

"Did something happen to you while you were out to meet with the client? I was very worried about you when I couldn't find you!" said Jackson.

Cherry said, "I'm alright; how could I get injured at work? You don't need to worry about me!"

"Well, it's good to hear that you're back. I was just worried about you, " gently said Jackson.

"What are you doing now?" asked Cherry.

I'm on my way to deal with some matters with Derek, " replied Jackson.

"Well, then I'll hang up now. I'll pick up Joe after school, but get home early, okay?" said Cherry.

"Okay, " replied Jackson. He felt very happy when he heard what Cherry said, and he was very lucky to have such a lovely wife and son.

Just after she finished her conversation with Jackson, Cherry saw Selina coming to her with two cups of coffee in her hands.

"How'd it go? Did you call Jackson?" said Selina, with a smile on her face. She thought, 'This young couple is really sticky. Jackson was worried about Cherry so much just because he couldn't call her! He's always been a cold and unconcerned person in my mind, but why is he so considerate for his wife? When did Jackson become such a warm-hearted person?'

After Cherry took the cup from Selina's hand, she said with a big smile on her face, "Yes, I called him. You said that you have some questions about a document? What's the problem?"

Selina sat leisurely next to Cherry and said, "Let's forget about work for the moment. It's just a minor problem, I'd like to ask you that before you leave."

Cherry smiled to her, and then asked, "Then what do you want to know from me? Is it..." Cherry paused for a second and stared at Selina. She then asked, "About my brother, Wilson?"

Selina bowed her head down with shyness the moment she heard the name "Wilson". She didn't want to know something about him specifically, but she thought about him when she saw the love between Cherry and Jackson.

Cherry understood that she was indeed right after she saw Selina's expression. She smiled, and said to her, "Well, alright, I'll tell you something about my brother then."

Selina smiled happily.

Mond drove his car back to his villa. After he entered the house, he went straight to the dining room, picked up a bottle of red wine and a wine glass, and then sat on the sofa and started to drink.

Sitting in the living room, Jean felt somewhat strange when she saw that Mond had started to drink the moment he returned home. Had something bad happened?

Jean stood up and then walked to the dining room.

"What's wrong? Why are you drinking so much?" asked Jean, confused.

Mond just said a couple of words coldly before he continued to drink. "Get out!"

Jean didn't go away, and instead sat next to Mond. She looked at his handsome face, and she knew that his heart was filled to the brim with sadness. When had he become so morose? When did his forehead crease in a frown? She saw that his brows were wrinkled the moment she saw him in the house.

"Is there anything wrong? Why are you sad now?" asked Jean.

Mond didn't reply to her question, and instead continued to drink. His mind was filled only with Cherry's appearance, and he thought, 'Why do I give up on killing her every time? When I wanted to knock her down with my car, I changed my mind at the very last minute when I was close to her. This time, I had everything planned perfect, and if I hadn't gone back to save her, she would have died in the elevator; but I changed my mind in the end. What's the matter with me?'

Mond drank one glass after another; the bottle of wine was finished in a shake.

Looking at the empty bottle, Mond felt that he still had a lot of pent-up anger to release, and that he still wanted to drink.

Mond then slowly stood up and tried to pick up another bottle of wine, but he was pulled by Jean as soon as he had got up. He suddenly lost his balance because of the alcohol, and fell on the wall next to him.

Mond was heavily leaning against the wall, with Jean standing in front of him.

Jean looked closely at Mond, and when she saw his drunken appearance, she felt that he was charming, and different from the indifferent look that he always had when he was awake.

Jean carefully touched Mond's face with her hands, and said to him, "You can tell me what happened, but just stop drinking, okay?"

"Will anything change if I tell you what happened? Can you handle it for me?" asked Mond. Jean was nothing but a pawn to him in his mind, and he knew that she indescribably hated Jackson and Cherry. He decided that he would take revenge on Jackson by using her hatred.

Jean hastily got closer to him, and said, "I will! Mond, I can do anything for you!"

Mond snorted with disdain, and said, "You're not that useful."

Mond then pushed Jean aside, and continued to say, "Leave you coquettish ways for other men; I'm not interested in you."

Mond then turned around and went to the living room.

Jean stood still and looked at Mond's back; she thought, 'He's such a cold man! He's been supporting me for so many years already, but doesn't even allow me to get close to him. Why did he ask me then to be his female companion at the party?'

Jean didn't give up and followed Mond to the living room. When she saw that he was leisurely lying on the sofa, she walked over to him and leaned on him.

"Mond, I'm serious! I can change for you if you want me to, " said Jean.

As she looked at Mond's face, something had already changed in her mind.
