Ice and Fire novel Chapter 360

Sally's strength was so great that Joe was pushed to the ground.

"Joe!, " Cherry shouted while running towards her son to rescue him from Sally's anger. Cherry immediately picked her son up and asked, "Joe, are you okay?"

Joe, although shock from Sally's display of violence shook his head, stared at Cherry and said: "Mommy, I'm okay."

As soon as Cherry confirmed that his son was not hurt She turned her attention to Sally who was standing nearby. Cherry walked up to her.

She didn't speak any word but gave Sally a strong right-hand slap on the face.

Pack! Sally expected the slap but was shocked by the strength that went with it. Jackson was caught by surprise. He had never expected Cherry to be violent. He never thought that Cherry was possible of hurting another person since he knew her as a gentle and patient soul. He knew that Joe was everything to Cherry and he was aware that Cherry would go through great length to protect her only son. This was the first time that Jackson saw how Cherry was when angered.

"Sally, you are in no position to touch my son, " said Cherry angrily.

"Cherry, you want to protect your son, right?" Sally said, unwilling to show any weakness, "Let see how well you can do that."

With these words, Sally raised up her hand ready to strike back on Cherry's face.

But before Sally had the chance to touch Cherry's face, her arm was suddenly seized in mid-air by a strong hand.

Cherry, fully prepared to receive Sally's vengeful hand was shocked. She was saved from the physical pain, but by whom? Cherry slowly shifted her gaze and was met with Mond's eyes. Mond was there, he was standing beside her. He prevented the strong blow from striking her face.

Jackson, a few feet away from the ladies was planted on his feet in surprise. He couldn't believe that Mond was there. He saved Cherry from the pain that Sally was ready to inflict. Panic and fear started to creep inside Jackson's heart as he stared at Mond's figure. His sudden appearance left him speechless. He saw that Mond was only a few paces away from Cherry, this did not sit well with Jackson. Unreasonable jealousy was starting to embrace Jackson.

Sally was forced to take a step backward to be able to keep her balance. She shot an angry look at the man who hindered her from getting even. It was Mond. "Why do you come here?" asked Sally, puzzled and furious at the same time.

Mond looked at Sally and didn't answer her question. "Think carefully before you do something you'll regret. Though there may not be an elder in your He Family to reprimand you, it's best that you act like a civilized woman, " Mond said.

"Mond, you! " Sally uttered, with pure hate dripping from her words. She was sure that Mond was there to mock her. Had she been successful in slapping Cherry, then she would have appeared uncultured before the people witnessing the dramatic event. Furthermore, such an act would have tarnished the reputation of her family. This made her angrier, she was so close in losing her temper to the point of destroying her family's name in public.

Mond then turned his attention to Jackson. They stared at each other, both of the men's eyes filled with hatred. Mond had loathed Jackson to the core, while Jackson detested his presence as well. He was a threat to his family. Jackson would never allow Mond to tempt Cherry into leaving him. He was a termite gnawing in the foundation of Jackson and Cherry's marriage.

"Sally, you want to know why I came here, right?" said Mond, a teasing smile curved his lips.

Mond paused for a moment and continued, "I'm here to protect someone, someone important to me.

Mond looked at Jackson, making sure that he clearly heard his words.

Though it seemed that Mond said these words to Sally, Jackson knew that these words were directed at him. Mond has always cared about Cherry, he saw her more than just a friend.

However, Sally just foolishly stood aside. She looked at Mond and said angrily, "Are you silly? You want to protect Cherry! You must be out of your mind!"

Mond, keeping his eyes on Jackson, answered, "Yes, I'm silly. I'm actually crazy for this woman so much so that I'm ready to fight for her."

Jackson, hearing Mond's admission, clenched his fists, he was ready to smash Mond's face in anger.

"Ha ha, " Sally suddenly laughed. She looked at Mond and Jackson. She then turned her eyes towards Cherry who stood there observing the events unfolding before her. "This is so funny, " said Sally.

Sally looked straight at Mond and said, "Mond, do you know that Jackson got stabbed for protecting Cherry five years ago? And five years later, you have set me aside to be with her. Have you forgotten that your partner is me, not her?"

Sally's tone had now turned cold and accusing. She was simply stating that they had cast her aside to follow Cherry. Sally couldn't fathom, why these men were crazy about her? What did she have? Why was she special?

Mond gave no response to Sally. He stared at Jackson and said, "Jackson, why don't you tell Sally the answer?"

Jackson kept his silence, his eyes remained fixed on Mond. Jackson's face showed no emotion. He looked calm but his emotions were chaos. There was no words that could describe what he was actually feeling inside.

Cherry stood aside while holding Joe by the hand. She was trying to make sense of what these three people in front of her were doing and saying. Mond and Jackson were having a staring match. Both men clearly hated at each other. Cherry knew that the hatred between the two men started a long time ago. How could they not be mad when they met in this way? She could see the fury on their faces, and she knew that both men were trying to rail their anger.

Funny as it seemed, this situation made Cherry feel bored. Now that she had discovered and confirmed the date between Sally and Jackson she thought that nothing more interesting could happen. Cherry was no longer in the frame of mind to hear Sally share more details about her relationship with Jackson even though Sally would like to do that. She was sure that her heart would not be able to take the pain. And she was afraid that she would break down and cry. Jackson still was his husband, the father of her son. She still loved him, so she couldn't give a cold shoulder to these things about him.

Suddenly all the commotion turned to silence.

Cherry tiredly turned her head to look at Joe and said, "Joe, let's go home."
