Ice and Fire novel Chapter 386

Mond found a hint of hatred sparkling inside Derek's eyes, and it was obvious that Derek loathed him and that his words were clearly directed against him. He thought that it would now be even more difficult for him to deal with Jackson, because now he had no kinds of limitations imposed on him. He could do whatever he wanted to and no one could stop him. After the unfortunate event that regarded his Grandpa calmed down, Jackson would master the power, and then...

Mond didn't even dare to think what was going to happen next. His previous thoughts had been too simple. He had deemed that Jackson would still consider his identity as a solider when his Grandpa passed away, but now what Derek said had made Mond's mind a complete mess. The situation seemed to have become a lot more complex than it was.

When Derek noticed that Mond had been stunned by his words, a smile curved up on his lips. He asked, "What's wrong? Is the sudden news so frightening?"

Jackson was listening to their conversation and imagined Mond's expression in his mind, even though he didn't look at his face. He hadn't intended to tell that to Mond, but he could understand Derek's reason. He was resisting Mond, and he wanted him know that he wasn't easy to deal with.

Mond suddenly looked surprised, and he sifted his eyes from Derek to Jackson. "So, our competition will be even fiercer. Now that you two have dedicated yourselves to your own lives, I will also devote more attention to playing with you two, " said Mond.

"Mond, I'm really curious to see what the result will be when you devote more of your attention to us, " said Jackson immediately in a cold and stern tone.

But Mond didn't lose his ground for a moment, and as he looked into Jackson's eyes, he said, "You haven't gotten the real power yet. When you'll get it, you'll see the result."

"That's none of your business, " said Derek. He thought, 'Who does Mond think he is? How dare he remark on Jackson? This guy is a bit too insolent for his own good.'

All of a sudden, Jackson asked, "Do you want to steal my power?" He knew what Mond was thinking in his mind. How could he ever turn a blind eye to all those fantastic interests and power?

"What did you say?" asked Mond, and then continued, "I should now go and claim half of the Chu Family's property."

Hearing these words, Derek immediately got irritated, and shouted, "Mond, you are too insolent!"

When Jackson saw that Derek wanted to stand up and lay his hands on Derek, Jackson immediately stretched out his arm and gestured him to stop.

Jackson steadily kept his eyes on Mond, and asked, "You want it, don't you?"

But Mond didn't reply, and instead just looked back into Jackson's eyes without saying a word.

"Just go and do that if you have the means, " said Jackson in a casual tone.

Derek gazed at Jackson because he couldn't understand why he treated Mond with so much calm in the tensed situation they were in. He should have given Mond proper beating for behaving so ridiculously and even wanting half of the Chu Family's property. Did he actually think that Andrew also owed him his entire life for what he had done in the past? Did he think that the whole Chu Family also owed him too?

But Jackson simply ignored Derek's words, and kept his steady gaze on Mond.

"Jackson, don't worry, because our hatred will not come to an end so early, " said Mond, but without replying to Jackson's words. He knew better than anyone one else that Jackson was challenging him, because although he told him that he could go and try to reclaim his half, he was actually implying that he didn't stand a chance for it. But, nevertheless, Mond still wanted to try, because he wanted to know if he could actually do it. He had never been afraid of failure. After all, he started off with nothing, so losing everything he had now was also acceptable for him.

"How could it possibly end early?" replied Jackson. He continued, "I wasn't in the mood to play with you before, but now I can play with you everyday. Do you want to take your revenge on me? Come on, I'm eagerly waiting to see how capable you truly are!"

After he said this, Jackson rose to his feet and left the suffocating place. He was unwilling to stay there for a minute longer.

Derek also stood up when he saw Jackson leave. He looked for a moment more at Mond, and said, "You'd better not?interfere in the thing with the butler, or otherwise I can't assure you if these guys you sent out still be so safe anymore."

"No!" said Mond, as he stood up to resist him.

"He already knows too much, and I can't let such a ticking time bomb roam around free. He's out of my control!" continued Mond. He couldn't feel at peace when he knew that the butler was wandering outside free.

"I know what you're worried about, but, " said Derek, "If you dispose of the butler, then Jackson won't let you go. You know that better than I do."

Gazing at Derek, Mond didn't speak a word, and thought that maybe he should ponder Derek's warning.

"You've annoyed him enough already, and if you don't want him to do some very cruel things to you, then you'd better stop interfering in our things. He's capable of murdering you, " continued Derek, when he saw that Mond wasn't replying to him.

After that, Derek turned around and left.

When he saw Derek walking away, Mond started to feel a bit scared. Jackson was just like rabid wolf that he had irritated. He had no idea of what would happen next.

But Mond believed firmly in one thing, that his competition with Jackson would now be much more fiercer than ever.
