Leap OF Fate novel Chapter 84

Serene’s knuckles turned white from gripping her phone. The more Crystal talked, the tighter her hand closed on it.

Her hands shook from the anger she felt. That asshole Justin had to target Mary to get what he wanted. After hearing what Justin did at Mary’s boutique from Crystal, she had an inkling that he must have asked her something else besides creating a dress in a short time. And that something definitely involved her twins.

Her tears automatically fell from her eyes. She did not need to guess what Mary’s decision would be. For as long as it involved her, or the twins, she would be willing to sacrifice. Why does Mary always have to sacrifice for her? She gave up Dylan to protect her and the twins five years ago. Five years later, she needed to give up the career she loved and built through sweat and blood to protect them. She could not just watch and see her friend’s life work flushed down the drain.

She grabbed her keys and went out. Although she’s emotionally charged, she still did not forget to exit from the surveillance camera’s blind side.

She stormed to Rain International. The receptionist did not want to let her enter because she was still in her pajamas. She’s making a scene, but thankfully, Justin’s secretary saw her and escorted her to Justin’s office.

She did not bother to knock and just stormed inside. Justin did not look surprised to see her at all. In fact, he looked at her with a lazy expression like he was expecting her. His eyes unabashedly scanned her from head to toe.

Just as he had expected, Mary was Serene’s weak spot. He knew that for as long as Mary’s involved, she would come to her rescue.

“You bastard, you did not have to drag Mary into this!” she shouted as she stormed forward to face him.

“But I just did. So, what are you going to do about it?” he challenged, resting his chin on his hand. His eyes taunted her; a sneer lifted the corner of his lips.

“Let Mary go, Justin. She does not deserve this.”

“Sure! Give me my children and I’ll let her go.”

Serene bit the inside of her cheek and looked at Justin with sharp eyes. “How many times do I have to tell you, they’re not yours?”

Justin met her eyes with equal fury. He took something out from his drawer and pushed it to Serene.

She did not bother reading the documents. Just by looking at the header, she knew they were DNA test results. Of course, she knew what the results were— he’s the twins’ biological father.

“So, you think that a simple DNA test is enough to stake your claim on MY children? Let me remind you Mr. Rain, five years ago, you told me you had nothing to do with me. And by extension, MY children.” Serene’s face burned from anger. The audacity of this man to even consider himself worthy of her children. “You lost whatever right you have over them because YOU abandoned us. So please, stop with your bullshit that you want to be a part of my children’s lives. They lived a happy and contented life without you. They don’t need you. Don’t drag them into this mess.”

“And that was all because you did not tell me you had them!”

Serene gave him a hollow laugh. “Did you fucking hear what you just said? I did not tell you about them? Really, Justin? In case you have forgotten, let me remind you what happened five years ago.

I begged you to listen to me and give me a chance. I waited for you outside your villa. Dead in the night. Exposed to the elements and drenched in the night’s rain. All I wanted was for you to hear me out. But you didn’t, you just abandoned me. I almost lost my children because of you!” Fat tears fell from her face as she ugly cried in front of him. “Would you have believed me they were yours if I told you? Heck, you’d probably say they were Bryan’s. I wish they were because—”

His angry kisses stopped her mouth from finishing her sentence. He ravaged her. The more she tried to push him away, the harsher his kiss became. He did not stop even when he tasted blood.

How dare she to even think of the possibility of bearing another man’s child. Those children are his and so is she.

“They’re mine, Serene. And so are you.” He held her chin as he said his words through gritted teeth.

“No, Justin, we’re not.” She met his fury as she fought the rage in his eyes with hers.

“Let’s see about that.”

Serene felt a gentle pain when Justin harshly pushed her to the wall. His mouth once again took hers. One hand pinned her body while the other felt her all over. She felt suffocated from his actions and her tears continued to flow from her eyes.

They were out of breath when he released her mouth. Her cold eyes met his.

“Justin, please let us go. You don’t need us. You’ll have your own family soon. Please, Justin, let us go,” she begged him. Her eyes welled with endless tears.

Every word she said stung him, but more so the pleading look on her face. She wanted him to let them go? Did they really not need him in their lives?

“Justin, you’d be married soon. Crystal would give you children. The two of you would build your own happy family. You don’t need us. Please, Justin, let us go. Don’t confuse your guilt with love. You don’t love us.”

“Get out!” he ordered. She did not linger further and did as she was told.

She hoped her words did magic, and he’d let Mary go.
