Mr George, Don't Be So Arrogant novel Chapter 25

The moment Riley said “she had done it with him”, Riley was grinding her teeth so hard that it was making some audible noise. Her bloody red lips were pressed together hard because of anger and behind her sunglasses, Riley could immediately feel her murderous intentions.

“Riley, you are really beyond shameless! You have the nerve to stick yourself to Euan at this critical juncture. You bitch!”

In comparison to Lydia’s fury, Riley was all too calm and composed. There was a hint of sarcasm on her face as she asked casually, “At this critical juncture? Miss Saunders, can you elaborate on that?”

Lydia’s lips slowly curled up and her slender fingers were stroking her belly. She then snorted noisily, “Do you even need me to make it even more clearly to you? I am bearing Euan’s child, soon I will be able to replace you…”

At that moment, Lydia suddenly broke into a fit of laughter, “I understand now, Riley. You must be very anxious because I am bearing his child, am I right? You must be afraid that Euan would banish you after this, and that is why you are seducing him with all your might. Riley, you are really scheming!”

Riley slowly shifted her gaze downwards and it stopped at Lydia’s stomach. Riley only wanted to laugh disdainfully upon hearing Lydia’s provoking words.

Did Lydia really think that she could cement herself as the young lady in the George family just because she was bearing his child? Did Lydia really think she would become Euan’s official wife by having his child? From her understanding of Euan’s character, if Lydia were to threaten him with the child as the bargaining chip, only one fate would be awaiting her—She would lose both her wealth and Euan!

Riley was burying her hands in the pockets of her coat, and her white coat was in stark contrast to Lydia’s fashionable attire, “Lydia, why are you forcing yourself to explain things to me? If you are really confident that you can capture Euan’s heart, why do you need to come looking for my trouble? With how much nonsense you have been spouting in front of me, that just proves that you are very insecure and unconfident. Are you feeling uneasy now?”

Lydia’s hands had curled up into fists. Riley was right, and her words had was right on the mark. When she saw Euan engaging in intimate action with Riley in the car park outside the entertainment district, that was when Lydia first felt a strange sense of uneasiness. When she saw Riley moving back to the villa, her uneasiness ramped up a notch too. By the time Riley had control over the turn of events, she would be out of the game.

Furthermore, Euan had been very cold towards her in the past two days. He wasn’t even showering her with more concern because of her pregnancy.

If it were not for…

Lydia produced a smile and crossed her arms while holding out her chin disdainfully, “Riley, you are thinking too highly of yourself! I have come to look for you because I want to remind you to find another place to settle down before you are really shunned by the George family. I just don’t want to see you ending up in the streets without anybody to care for you!”

Riley didn’t want to continue this farce with Lydia anymore, so she lifted her slender legs and just as she was about to brush past her, Lydia suddenly said, “Riley, take a look at this.”

Riley looked sideways upon hearing than and she happened to catch a glimpse of Lydia’s raised hand. There was an emerald bracelet on her wrist, which gave off a refreshing and attractive glow. One could see that this was a high-grade jewellery at first glance, but… why did this bracelet look so familiar?

Lydia shook the bracelet and continued with her lips curling up, “You must be able to recognize this, no? This is the jade bracelet from the Qing dynasty which was possessed by the Madam of the George family who is also Euan’s mother and also your mother-in-law. It was such a coincidence too, considering that your mother-in-law has gifted me this bracelet the moment she learnt of my pregnancy besides inviting me to the old mansion of the George family.”

She had been emphasizing the word “mother-in-law” repeatedly, and her tone was full of sarcasm.

Riley stared at the bracelet and suddenly, she felt that something was obstructing her field of vision. It was an uncomfortable sensation.

Lydia laughed arrogantly, “Perhaps Euan hasn’t enlightened himself with the importance of this child to the George family, but no matter, as long as his parents know of this child’s importance. That would be enough. There are some antics which are opposing the concept of filial piety, and one dread not being able to carry out the bloodline the most! The George family was an affluent family with a long history. How could they allow a woman who couldn’t bear their future generations stay in the family?”

Riley felt her hand curling into fists as she couldn’t wait to tear Lydia into pieces. However, she was not someone who would resort to violence when faced with a problem.

Why would Riley be scared by just some mere words?

Hence, she simply smiled with a nondescript expression, “Then, I really have to congratulate you. Allow me to give you a piece of advice, pregnancy is not a sure fire thing. Some people have no problem giving birth to a healthy baby while some people have to face miscarriage. You better watch out from now on and make sure that you don’t cause your baby to lose his life.”

Lydia who was about to leave stopped in her tracks and focused all her attention on Riley’s face. She poked Riley’s collars with her delicate nails as she took a glance at her name card pinned on her uniform. There was an unedited photo of her on the name card. Lydia glared vehemently at that photo and cursed at her: You bitch!

She then retorted slowly, “You don’t have to spout such comments! Of course I will be fine! Also, I will be visiting the obstetrics and gynaecology department often in this hospital, and coincidentally you are working here too. What say you, if I implore mother-in-law to ask you to take care of me? Would she agree to that?”

Her crystal-clad nails were pinching the edge of her name card as she burnt the photo and name on it into her memory.

Riley stared at her sternly, “You can come to me if you have a heart attack!”

After saying that, Riley didn’t give Lydia any chance to retaliate with more nonsense as she walked in big strides to the ward area. Lydia also started walking and the sounds her high-heels made were reverberating in the corridor, “Riley, if you dare to have anything to do with Euan again, I will make sure mother-in-law will banish you from the family!”

Riley felt like she had reached the limits of her patience. She turned around and snorted coldly, “Lydia, are you stupid? You want mother-in-law to shun me? You better think about the repercussions for yourself if the media were to learn that you are a mistress! I never want to disclose about my marriage with Euan, but who knows if I would do that if my mood is good…”

“Riley! You better don’t push me!”

Lydia was afraid of the prospect of their marriage getting exposed now. The only reason she could reprimand her here was because nobody knew about the relationship between Riley and Euan. If the masses were to learn of that, it would put her in an awkward position.

Riley glanced at her with disgust, “Therefore, if you want your child to be born healthily, and for the sake of your reputation as a top star, you better watch your behaviour! If you go past my limit, I wouldn’t care if I lose everything, but do you have the guts to sacrifice everything?”

Do you have the guts to satisfy everything?

This was just a simple sentence, yet it weighed heavily in Lydia’s heart.

Riley didn’t have much to begin with, so what did she have to lose?

The same thing couldn’t apply to her… if the ugly truth were to come to light, her career would be ruined. Besides, she hadn’t captured Euan’s heart yet.
