Mr George, Don't Be So Arrogant novel Chapter 49

At that point, Riley understood that Jeanne didn't want to fire her to protect the hospital's reputation, Jeanne just wanted to get rid of her.

What the hell was the reason for Jeanne to treat her like that?

She thought about it at heart for a moment, Riley didn't dare to confront Jeanne with force, she judged the situation and smiled, “Ms. Pouchain, even if you want to fire me, you'll have to get the head of the hospital's approval first, tell me when you've got the document to fire me, I still have things to do so I'll take my leave.”

Jeanne snorted, “Dr. Watson, you sound like you’re fearless, huh? Why, do you think that someone superior will keep protecting you?”

She was talking about that one time when William defended her from reporters.

Riley smiled, “No, I'm an upright person and that's why I'm not afraid.”

Jeanne taunted her, “How could you have the nerve to say such words? Secretly setting yourself against the hospital VIP patient and secretly hooking up with the leader's hospital, you've done such shameless things and you still say that you're not afraid because you're an upright person?! Since you're so confident, I'll give you a chance.”

Jeanne said that she walked pass Riley, took the phone on the office desk, then raised her eyebrows and squinted at Riley while dialing, “Save your eloquence and tears, you can use it to improvise in a while.”

The call got connected.

“Mr. Houston, it's me, the cardiology department is now in a mess... Yes, the patient demands justification... It's recommended to fire Dr. Watson, otherwise, not only the cardiology department, the whole hospital will be greatly impacted... Okay, I understand.”

She briefly and powerfully described the impact that Riley caused very well, as if not firing her would be so offensive to the whole hospital.

Jeanne put the phone down, “Dr. Watson, see you at the head of the hospital's office.”

After saying that, Jeanne walked out.

Head of the hospital... Riley frowned as she followed her.

After walking out the elevator, they both saw Williams tall figure in his clean white doctor gown out there, there were directors of several departments and Ms. Pouchain behind him.

Jeanne smiled in an instant, “Good morning, Mr. Hardesty.”

William nodded as he looked at Riley, “Dr. Watson, are you feeling better? Did you sleep well last night?”

A group of people looked at her in unison, they looked calm, but their gazes were all different.

Riley said "oh no" at heart, she already had a bad reputation, with William's words, there'd be more misunderstandings.

“I'm way better now, thank you very much.”

Jeanne faintly smiled, “Mr. Hardesty is very busy every day and Dr. Watson is the main force in cardiology, so I will take good care of her.”

William didn't look at her at all, he still said, “Dr. Watson, come to me after you finish the paper and communicate with me immediately if you have any question."

Riley bit her lips, “Yes, Mr. Hardesty.”

After finally getting out of his pressure, Riley didn't dare to let her guard down, she only hoped that he would not appear with such attitude again.

Jeanne sneered, “As expected, Dr. Watson has tricks, she can even get the attention from a man like Mr. Hardesty, but I'm looking forward to what he'll think if he knows those things you did.”

Jeanne kept saying words with hidden meanings, which disturbed Riley so much!

William at the elevator entrance was not in a hurry to leave, he turned his head and watched the two figures gradually walk away, entering Mr. Houston's room together.

Only then he got back to his sense, “ give me the surgery records of neurosurgery department in this month, Mr. Wong, prepare a detailed emergency work manual and hand it to me before weekend."

After instructing, he didn't plan on going downstairs anymore, several directors looked at him, "Mr. Hardesty, the elevator...”

“I still have something to do, just go down first.”

The head of the hospital's office.

Hearing Jeanne's words, Mr. Houston's head slightly hurt, he really admired a talent like Riley and he couldn't bear firing her, but the situation was very unfavorable for her to stay.

Seeing that Mr. Houston was hesitating, Jeanne said, “Mr. Houston, the cardiology department is in a mess now, I don’t want to be shielding by related personnel as soon as I take the position, and I can't watch the situation getting worse."

Mr. Houston clasped his hands which were covered with age spots, resting on the desk, "Firing a doctor is the second best thing, Jeanne, it won't solve the root of the problem.”

Jeanne refuted, “The root of the problem was just things that Dr. Watson did recently... Incidentally, her behavior has caused the patient's suspicion and panic, causing patient's trust in the hospital to drop sharply, you must have seen that the cardiology department is in panic now."

Mr. Houston sighed, looked up at Riley, “Do you have anything you want to explain?”

Mr. Houston was giving her a chance.

Riley bent over politely, “Mr. Houston, I'm very sorry because I have brought such a huge trouble for the hospital and troubled you. However, I did not do anything against the medical ethics, as for the slander, I hope that wise people won't get fooled by rumors.”

Jeanne attacked her, “Dr. Watson, on the other hand, even if you're innocent and you didn't do it actually, but others got hurt because of you, so shouldn't you be responsible for it?”

Fuck!

It was very easy to blame someone when people wanted to frame that person.

William, who was standing outside, couldn't listen to her any longer, he knocked on the door, “Mr. Houston.”

Once Mr. Houston saw him coming, he sighed out of relief, “Mr. Hardesty, come in.”

William faintly smiled, his face looked elegant and clean, “Just now I happened to hear a bit of Ms. Pouchain's words, I have different opinion regarding Dr. Watson's matter.”

Mr. Houston nodded, allowing him to continue.
