Mr George, Don't Be So Arrogant novel Chapter 93

Such vaguely alluring and dreamy words came out of Euan’s mouth, making her heart tremble. She blushed suddenly. The red glow creeping up in her cheeks like soft clouds made her look innocent and bashful enough to melt someone’s heart.

Seeing her looking so quiet and shy, Euan felt very happy.

It felt like teasing her and flirting with her were far more interesting than he had imagined.

Why hadn’t he noticed this in the past three years?

However, Riley was Riley. She knew how to make him extremely infuriated. She grinned and said, “Euan, you should leave your flirting techniques for those tender-hearted delicate women of yours. Let me go, I need to dry my hair.”

He still stayed in his position with his hands on the wall, keeping her between his arms, “What are you afraid of? This is not our first time.”

Riley raised her head, dripping water from her hair onto her clothes, “So, these romantic rituals are no longer needed. Whenever you need, come to me directly. This way suits your style better.”

‘This stupid woman completely ruined the romantic atmosphere with her words!’ Euan felt annoyed.

Because of her deliberate provocation, he lost his erection, “You… you are good!”

Riley smiled evilly and the blush on her face slowly disappeared, “Thank you for praising me, Euan! Now please let me go.”

Euan put a hand on the top of her head, “What if I don’t?”

‘Naive!’

Riley simply bent her knees to lower her slender body and slipped out from under his arm.

Seeing the space in front of him empty as she suddenly escaped, his eyebrows raised in surprise but then his expressions changed as a deep smile appeared at the corner of his mouth.

‘Riley, you are very interesting!’ No matter if she previously used to pretend or behaved deliberately, he could see that her fierceness and arrogance had faded away. Wasn’t she too a woman after all?

Aiden’s method seemed to be quite effective.

While blow-drying her hair, Riley gritted her teeth. She hadn’t expected her period to come at such a time. If she had slacked off even a bit just now and was caught by Euan, it would have been a bloody sight.

But how was she going to sleep tonight?

Riley tried to think of the solution. She ran into the bedroom while Euan was taking a shower and locked the door.

She clapped her hands happily, “That should do it!”

He could sleep on the sofa for one night. She was prone to cramps during periods, if she caught a cold at such a time she was going to die from the pain.

Euan came out of the bathroom and saw that the bedroom door was locked. Seeing a blanket and a pillow on the sofa, he frowned. She actually wanted him to sleep on the sofa?

How did she have enough guts to provoke him so courageously?

But…

Riley woke up and stretched her arms sleepily, but something was in the way.

She turned to her side only to be greeted by the chest of a man!

She was stunned!

‘How did he get in?’

Euan was already awake. He squinted his eyes blankly and said lazily, “Next time you lock the door, don’t forget the key on the entrance hall’s cabinet.”

Riley was speechless.

Fuck!

She must have donated her IQ for charity!

Fortunately, her clothes were still in order. He had just slept there and hadn’t tried to do anything to her.

Riley got up to make breakfast and completely used all the things that were bought last night.

She arranged them on the table. By this time, Euan also came out of the bathroom wearing only a towel around him. This scene was too hot for her to handle in the morning.

He walked towards the table and seemed to be reading her thoughts, “I don’t repeat wearing the same clothes the next day.”

‘So, you want to parade around to show-off, you pervert!’

It wasn’t that easy.

“The clothes you left here last time are washed. You can wear them.”

The corners of her mouth raised in a smile as she felt proud of herself.

She brought out a stack of neatly folded clothes, a shirt, and a pair of trousers.

Euan stared at her calmly, his deep eyes twinkling lightly with a warning, “Just these? Where is the underwear?”

He waited for her to blush, but she didn’t. Instead, she said, “Don’t worry, Euan. It’s all here! Your underwear is more expensive than other peoples’ watches, how can I lose it?”

Did this mean that she wanted to sell it?

She pulled out a pair of black underwear with her slender fingers and shook them in her hand.

Euan’s eyes narrowed, “These are made of a special fabric and cannot be machine-washed. Once washed in the machine, they can’t be worn again.”

‘Oh, God! How many excuses he can make just to run around naked?’

“Don’t worry, I washed them by hand.”

Thinking about the time she washed the clothes… she was not in the same frame of mind back then as she was now. That was the first time she was washing his clothes. She didn’t send them to the dry cleaners and washed them all carefully by hand. She had kept them aside to keep as memories afterwards. After all, she was about to get divorced.

“All of them?”

Including the underwear?

“Of course, they are all hand-washed.”

Her tone was calm and confident.

Euan’s deep eyes shone evilly, “Very good!”

He had to wear the clothes she had touched with both her hands, especially the ones that are worn very close to the skin.

He came out after changing his clothes, looking dazzling and awe-inspiring in front of Riley. He slowly rolled the cuffs of his sleeves upwards to reveal his strong well-proportioned forearms and his slender beautiful hands.

The soft morning sun was falling on his face, making him shine like the moon.

Riley’s eyes lit up as she sat there stunned staring at him.

Euan let her watch his body. He slowly took his seat at the table and said naturally, “The dirty clothes are in the bathroom. Remember, all of them have to be washed by hand.”

Riley bit on her chopsticks and didn’t reply.

It was a simple and comfortable breakfast, but Riley ate slowly. Just like the dead man who will look radiant in the moments before death, she was vaguely afraid that Euan and her time together was soon going to end.

Their divorce was an unchangeable fact. The more memories he gave her to cherish, the more it was going to hurt him when he had to leave her.

After she got ready to go to work after breakfast, Euan dragged her to his car, “I’ll drop you.”

“You are a busy person, Euan. I can manage by myself!”

“Don’t think too much! I will use the petrol fee to pay the rent.”

Riley didn’t know what to say.

She had thought that he would stop there, but he went on to add lightly, “I’ll pick you up after work.”

Riley had no words left.

“While you take care of your patients, also think about what you want for dinner and breakfast tomorrow.”

Riley stayed silent for some time, “Euan, if you keep doing this, I will misunderstand and think that you love me.”

Euan put his fingers on the steering wheel, “Is it just a misunderstanding?”

She was astonished, “Well, it’s not the truth, is it?”

As she waited nervously for his answer, she didn’t dare to think… she almost didn’t dare to listen.

He was silent for a while but his gaze was fixed on her. The more he looked into her eyes, the deeper he fell.

“Go to work. You find some answers sooner or later.”

Riley got out of the car looking astonished.

Since when did the relationship between them become so… weird? This kind of dialogue had never happened between them, nor was it in-line with their nature or in-line with their marriage which was on the verge of disintegration.

Shaking her head, she chuckled. Was it some new tricks he was playing to handle her? Giving her hope at first to make her unable to free herself and then abandon her cruelly?

He was an addictive man. Once addicted to him, there was no way to quit nor could she become addicted to anything else.

The only way was to divorce him as soon as possible.

As soon as she arrived at the hospital, she received a call from the ward.

“Dr. Watson, the condition of the patient with coronary heart disease has suddenly worsened. Please come right away!”

“Okay.”

She didn’t even have time to change her clothes. Putting the phone in her pocket, she rushed towards the ward directly holding her bag.

“What are his vitals?”

“Blood pressure is 85 by 40, her pulse is 70. Breathing is uniform on both sides. His oxygen saturation is decreasing and he can’t breathe properly.”

Riley dropped her bag on the chair and stretched out her hands to check the patient’s eyes and then his breathing rate and pulse. This didn’t make sense, the patient only had coronary heart disease, this shouldn’t have happened.

His family members who were waiting on the side were all trembling with fright. They kept crying and begging her to save him. But Riley couldn’t detect the abnormality from the position of the heart.

Because of the running just now, her abdomen started to throb with pain. As a doctor, it was impossible to avoid menstrual cramps for her!

“What did the patient do before his condition worsened?”

She asked eagerly as sweat beaded on her forehead.

The family hurriedly explained, “He got up in the morning and went to the bathroom and then took medicine… oh, and he wanted to eat fruit so I peeled an orange for him and he ate that some time before this happened.”

The assistant doctor looked at Riley in confusion, unable to understand the reason behind the patient’s condition.

But Riley understood!

“Get back!”

Riley asked the other doctors to retreat. She climbed on the bed, and pressed the patient’s stomach and intestines with her palms. Her hands moved upwards, again and again, increasing their pressure.

Suddenly, the patient vomited and an unchewed piece of orange was thrown out of his mouth.

Then, he coughed.

After the piece of orange that was jammed in his aesophagus was removed, he resumed normal breathing. He looked around at the doctors in confusion, “What happened?”

Riley stepped down from the bed and sternly reprimanded him, “You are asking me what is wrong? I told you that in your current condition, you are only allowed liquid food but you still ate an orange? I think you want to be transferred to the surgical ward.”

The patient’s face turned pale upon hearing this, “Dr. Watson, I am really sorry. I just got… greedy. I have been on the liquid food for a couple of days now, I couldn’t stand it.”

The family members continued to apologize to her, “It was our fault.”

Riley told him again, “Originally, you were to eat liquid food only for three days but now you have to do it for another week.”

“Huh? A week? You mean… five days?”

“Eight days!”

He didn’t dare to argue anymore, “Okay, I will listen to you, Dr. Watson. A week!”

Riley’s lower abdomen hurt badly and the sweat from her forehead was beginning to drip down. The doctor beside her thought she was too anxious from saving the patient just now and accused him, “See, how you made her tired. Next time, don’t make her so worried.”

“Let him rest and contact me if anything happens.”

As she was leaving after picking up her bag, Riley heard someone talking behind her, “Dr. Watson looked so cool while rescuing the patient!”

Back at the office, Riley made herself a hot cup of brown sugar water. After half of the cup was finished, Jeanne came over.

Seeing her, Riley frowned. If she was here, it must not be good news.

“Everyone! Please stop doing whatever you are doing right now. I need to tell you all something.”

Jeanne held a document in one hand and her other hand was in her pocket, putting on official airs.

Serena and Margot looked at each other in dismay. Riley continued to drink her sugar water. Jeanne’s important announcement was not going to help her cramps!

Jeanne narrowed her eyes at Riley and then continued in a loathing tone, “Someone from the municipal council will be coming to the hospital for an assessment. The hospital has participated in the competition for university hospitals. If all goes well, this hospital will become the first university hospital in JD City. It is very important and many departments especially those that deal with heart, brain, and tumor are in the top priority of the assessment.”

‘Boring! This hospital is already JD City’s central hospital! What is the point of hanging up an extra status?’

Riley criticized inwardly. Jeanne looked at her and said lightly, “Dr. Watson, please come with me.”
