Lin Wen Xin’s house is situated near a high-end mall so she was able to get there in less than 10 minutes.

She stopped by a store that specialises in selling exquisite vases. Since her house is rather empty at the moment, she thought that a vase would be a good addition to decorate her place.

Lin Wen Xin walked around the store and finally found one that suited her taste. She turned to the sales assistant and asked politely, “Could you please wrap this up for me?”

“Wait, I want that!” A middle-aged lady demanded loudly.

Caught by surprise, Lin Wen Xin went over to the counter where this lady is now at, and spoke to her in a polite tone.

“Hello Madam, I believe there is some misunderstanding. I have already told the sales assistant that I would like to have this vase.”

The lady simply stared at Lin Wen Xin with disdain and spoke in an arrogant tone, “The first to pay will be the first to get it.” She then threw her card over to the sales assistant, “Swipe it!”

Lin Wen Xin felt that it is completely pointless to argue with someone who is unreasonable by nature. Also, it was really unprofessional of the sales assistant to condone such a behaviour.

If this lady really wants this item and spoke to Lin Wen Xin about it nicely, she would have given it to her without any hesitation. After all, she is still reasonable person.

But ‘snatching’ it away from her is simply not right at all!

She looked at the sales assistant who is right in front of them, “May I speak to your store manager?”

Lin Wen Xin is able to tell that the sales assistant is very fearful of the lady. Hence, she decided to request for the store manager to step in and help resolve this issue.

“Ha! Store manager?? Who will care about a small store manager when my husband is the manager of this mall?!”

In just a few minutes, the lady’s husband appeared at the store. The staffs recognised him and greeted respectfully.

With one look, Lin Wen Xin could tell that the pair is already trying to gang up against her. But she still decided to speak her mind about this matter, hoping that it would not happen again to another customer.

After explaining the whole incident from her point of view, she then added, “As the mall’s manager, I sincerely hope that you will take an objective stand and refrain from allowing customers to behave in this manner.”

He then took a step forward and replied, “Thank you for your feedback. But as the mall’s manager, I also have the rights to decide on who should leave the store.”

He raised his arm and showed her to the door, “Please.” As he said this, his wife stood at the side and gloated.

Though Lin Wen Xin is very displeased with how the mall’s manager had handled this case, she did not want to continue wasting her time and decided to walk away. Anyway, she could choose not to patronise this mall again.

However, just when she was about to turn around, Lin Wen Xin suddenly felt someone holding on to her waist. She looked up and saw Wang Shen Ze staring coldly at the mall’s manager.

“Shouldn’t you be the one leaving instead? How dare you speak to my wife like this!”

“Yi Fan, take care of this!”

The mall’s manager and his wife widened their eyes in disbelief. If they had known that Lin Wen Xin is actually the boss’ wife, they wouldn’t have dared to treat her like that!

But it is too late to regret as this lesson has already caused the mall’s manager to lose his job.

After they have walked a few meters away from the store, Lin Wen Xin removed Wang Shen Ze’s hand from her waist and stood in front of him.

“President Wang, thank you for helping me out earlier. If there’s nothing else, I’ll make a move first.” Lin Wen Xin gave him a light nod before walking away.

Wang Shen Ze froze at his position for a few seconds before chasing after her. He rushed forward and blocked her way, “Xin, can we speak for a while?”

Lin Wen Xin looked at him and gave a slight smile, “I believe President Wang is a very busy person. I’m afraid, I can’t afford your precious time.”

Wang Shen Ze quickly sped up and walked alongside with her. “Xin, I’m very sorry. Please give me a chance and hear me out. I know that...”

It is at this time that they arrived at a restaurant. Lin Wen Xin interrupted him by speaking to the waiter, “A table for one please.”

She followed the waiter inside and placed her bag on a chair before sitting elegantly on the opposite one.

Well of course, Wang Shen Ze had followed her in as well. And Lin Wen Xin is obviously very dissatisfied with his action. “President Wang, isn’t it a little rude of you to sit here, uninvited?”

Wang Shen Ze held on to her bag while remaining seated, totally unsure of how he should respond to her.

Actually it was not that he did not know what to say, but he could obviously sense that she is still angry with him and so, he was trying to be very tactful in this situation.

After all, the last thing he wants to do now is to anger her even more.

But since he had finally found her after much difficulty, he would definitely not want to miss this golden opportunity to explain himself to her.

On the other hand, Lin Wen Xin was clearly disinterested in what he has to say. After placing her order, she took out her phone and became very occupied with replying to her work emails.

Seeing that she is so busy, Wang Shen Ze really did not know how he should interrupt her.

But soon, the food has arrived and her phone is also kept away. It was finally a good time for him to speak.

“Xin... I’m really sorry for everything that I have done to you. I am very regretful of my actions every single day, and I really just wish that I could turn back the time.”

Wang Shen Ze then went on to explain the situation back then, which also led to the misunderstanding that he had of her.

“It is completely my fault that I have failed to clarify things with you back then. If I did, all these would not have happened and... you wouldn’t have left my side.”

Lin Wen Xin paused for a moment, then placed her chopsticks down on the table.

“To me, marriage is not a game. It is about two people coming together to become one. We form a team. Whatever problems that we face, we will solve it together. And not make decisions individualistically.”

She added, “So for me, I see this very differently. Don’t get me wrong, I’m grateful for your explanation and I do accept your apology.”

“But because of what had happened, you have also shown me that our perspective on marriage is actually very different and how our goals are not aligned with each other, at all.”

“I suggest, we both take some time to think about what we really want. And we can talk about it further.” Lin Wen Xin stood up and took her bag from him. She then passed him a name card with her contact details, before walking away.

But Wang Shen Ze immediately went forward and held on to her lower arm to stop her from leaving.

“Xin, I already know what I want. I just want to be with you.”

Wang Shen Ze looked at Lin Wen Xin with sincerity in his eyes.
