Nobilis of War novel Chapter 1120

Barnes' thunder was coming!

This was unexpected as his thunder would miss the immortal's thunder again.

The red sword-shaped thunder rushed toward Barnes at an unimaginable speed.

"Howl!"

A ferocious expression appeared on his face as he thumped his chest and roared.

Crack!

The red sword-shaped thunder struck Barnes on the head.

It didn't matter that it was powerful enough to kill him. After all, he had a Golden Indestructible Body, which meant that he would be revived after fatal injuries.

However, there was a complication!

After the red sword-shaped thunder exploded, it didn't dissipate. On the contrary, it turned into many tiny swords that stabbed the space randomly.

The immortal, who was standing beside, felt that something was wrong.

It only took her a brief moment to figure out that Barnes' thunder would prevent his resurrection! If he couldn't be revived, his vital energy would be crushed, and he would not be able to resurrect. Absolute power was the nemesis to all Eternal Bodies in the world!

As she and Barnes were allies now, the immortal couldn't just stand by and watch.

She also had a selfish reason for wanting to help Barnes. She needed him to help her pass her tribulation!

As the immortal moved, the law force surged and covered all the small thunder swords.

Crack, crack.

After the law force collided with the thunder swords, space began to vanish.

Fortunately, the thunder's power had significantly reduced after it had fragmented into tiny swords. Therefore, the immortal was able to destroy most of the thunder swords.

A shadow gradually formed, and the remaining thunder swords immediately gathered, intending to shatter Barnes again. Fortunately, the immortal's law force protected him, and Barnes was able to revive.

Even though he had returned to life, Barnes seemed weaker than before.

"Whoosh!"

When Barnes returned to his original appearance, he gasped for breath, like a drowning child who had been rescued.

"Thank you," Barnes said coldly.

The immortal didn't respond. A short moment later, she reminded him, "In a minute, my fourth thunderbolt will strike."

Hearing that, Barnes knew that he needed to activate his second bolt of thunder.

"No, I should trigger at least two bolts of thunder."

Barnes realized he had only passed the first bolt of thunder and that he had eight more to endure. However, the immortal only had three left. He knew that he had to trigger two thunder attacks this time. That way, for each of the remaining two thunder attacks for the immortal, Barnes needed to activate three of his!

"Howl!"

He morphed into ape form again and roared fiercely.

Crack! Crack!

In the sky, two kinds of tribulation cloud surged simultaneously.

"There is hope!" Excitement coursed through Barnes when he saw that his plan was working.

A scarlet thunder and a faint yellow thunder descended from the sky in unison. However, the two thunderbolts were very far away and appeared to be separated by layers of space.

As the two thunder attacks fell rapidly, the immortal and Barnes didn't have time to forge a new plan.

"Switch!" The immortal dashed forward. Quick to react, Barnes moved toward her.

Barnes and the immortal quickly changed positions.

The two bolts of thunder chased the two figures. As Barnes and the immortal had expected, the two beams of thunder met in midair.

Boom!

The collision had a tremendous effect—it was almost as if the end of the world had arrived, and the whole space had collapsed. Countless electric snakes dispersed, and the world turned into a sea of thunder and lightning.

When the scarlet thunder and the faint yellow thunder fought, the scarlet thunder triggered by Barnes showed signs of breaking.

Since this was just the second one for Barnes, it was not powerful. The faint yellow thunder was the immortal's fourth, and hence, stronger than Barnes'. That was why the scarlet thunder couldn't defeat it.

Barnes was overjoyed with the result. His chance to upgrade had finally arrived!

"Howl!"

Barnes activated the third bolt hoping that another thunder would come the moment his second one was destroyed.

Crack!

Relief coursed through Barnes when the next thunder descended.

As before, Barnes and the immortal continued to exchange positions, and the results were as they had expected. Each time, the two beams of thunder consumed each other, and all Barnes and the immortal needed to do was withstand the remnant thunder power.

As they had figured out a way to cancel each other's thunders, hope blossomed in their hearts.

Then, the immortal's fifth thunder met Barnes' fourth, fifth, and sixth. The three thunder attacks targeting Barnes were a little stronger. To ensure that the rest of the thunder power was suppressed, the immortal and Barnes used their combined forces.

There was only one thunder left for the immortal, and three for Barnes.

"Is this going to work?"

He raised his head and glanced at the sky. He had never been as anxious as he was at this crucial moment.

No one in history had successfully passed the ninth tribulation, and he was about to accomplish it. The fact that he had passed more than half the tribulation brought him both worry and jubilation.

After withstanding the first five thunder attacks, the immortal breathed a sigh of relief as well. She was calmer than Barnes as she had anticipated that her Immortal Character would return when her last thunder arrived.

Once she regained her Immortal Character, all the injuries she had suffered before would disappear, her soul would be complete, and her strength would improve significantly.

She was confident that she could survive the sixth thunder with the Immortal Character.

Crack!

Like before, Barnes' thunder and the immortal's thunder arrived at the same time.

The two switched their positions and continued to let the thunderbolts consume each other.

Everything went unexpectedly smoothly. Although the immortal's sixth thunder had neutralized Barnes' seventh and eighth thunders, her thunder still had power left.

This proved that the power of Barnes' thunder punishment was similar to the immortal's thunder punishment. After he passed the ordeal, he would have the same strength as an immortal, if not more.

"Only one more thunder remains. I'm going to succeed!" He had never been as excited as he was at this crucial moment!

Crack!

When his last thunder was triggered, he moved toward the immortal, just as he had done several times before.

Only now, he found that the immortal didn't move.

A sense of foreboding coursed through Barnes.

"She..." He suddenly realized that this ruthless creature was going to force him to endure the last thunder by himself. She wanted him to die!

The scarlet thunder formed a colossal hand and chased Barnes.

The immortal seized this opportunity to move further away from Barnes, drawing her sixth remnant thunder away from him.

Now that her Immortal Character was hovering above her, the immortal no longer needed his help. In a few seconds, she would recover her strength, and she wouldn't fear the remaining thunder.

She decided to kill the dark creature as she could sense that once he survived the thunder punishment, he would be a huge threat to her.

Her rational mind told her that she had to kill this dark creature before he became stronger, so that he would never be a threat to her.

"Ha-ha-ha." Barnes laughed bitterly.

His heart was empty, and he felt ridiculous for having trusted her.

He was a ruthless dark creature all his life. Once he made an unexpected friend, his mind changed too. He never thought that the immortal would betray him like this.

If this had happened in the past, he would have watched her die.

"Such is my fate! I met Darren and became a friend to him. Now, I will die because of him," Barnes roared.

Hearing the horrifying roar from Barnes, the immortal said coldly, "Do you regret it?"

"Regret? Impossible! If I regret meeting Darren because I might die, then I don't deserve to be his friend," Barnes said firmly.
