Nobilis of War novel Chapter 1160

In the dark cave, god's power rushed through Darren's veins. His wounded body recovered instantly. It took only a quarter of an hour for him to recover most of his injuries.

"You're very good. You're only the second one to have gone three thousand feet up the cliff."

The white-haired man stood beside Darren. As he spoke, he exerted his god's power to light up several oil lamps that were hanging on the wall of the cave. The dim, yellow light lit up the dark space.

"Who was the first?" Darren asked.

"I was." The white-haired man's answer made Darren laugh.

"What should I do now?" Darren took a breath to steady himself and he looked intently at the white-haired man.

"Cultivate. You have to reach at least the peak of the upper-level of the Primary God Realm before I can teach you the martial skill. Remember, you have to make it in three years. Otherwise, it will be too late."

"Why? Can't I practice for more than three years?" Darren asked.

"No." The white-haired man paused before speaking again. "Because I will be dead in three years."

With that, the white-haired man's figure faded away, leaving Darren all alone.

"Ha!" Darren shook his head and cleared his mind. He needed to put all his concentration into cultivation.

In the cave, the godly energy Darren assimilated from the environment would not increase much. However, he found that the godly energy he absorbed with the help of his talent was ten times more than usual!

'It really is ten times faster. In this case, it wouldn't take me three years to reach the peak of the upper-level of the Primary God Realm.'

Darren exerted all his strength into cultivation, absorbing godly energy to nourish his veins, and then turning it into his own strength.

In the blink of an eye, two years had passed.

Darren had been able to break through to the upper-level of the Primary God Realm a year ago. It took him another year to reach the peak of the upper-level. Now, he was so close to reaching the top-level of the Primary God Realm!

"Master, I have met your requirements!"

Darren said aloud, shouting at the air.

Suddenly, a figure materialized in front of him.

"Good, very good." The white-haired man praised Darren. It was very rare for him to praise people.

"I have half a roll of supreme martial skill called the 'True Sword Formula'. I know you practice sword skills and you are a genius from a mortal world, so I took you as the last disciple. I will now teach you the sword formula. If you succeed in comprehending it, you may break through to the Celestial God Realm."

As the white-haired man spoke, a hexagram-shaped object emerged in the air. With his spiritual sense, Darren was able to see that the spots of light around it were made up of tiny, sharp swords.

"I cannot seem to understand." Darren observed it for a while, but he could not figure out what made it special.

"Don't worry. Let me plant a sword seed for you."

Whoosh!

Sword intent rushed into Darren's Sword God Character in his elixir field. It was subtle but terrifying.

The structure of Darren's Sword God Character shifted, the surface of which was engraved with many complicated runes.

"Keep observing it," the white-haired man instructed.

Darren looked at the hexagram again.

This time, Darren saw a difference.

The hexagram absorbed Darren's soul into a world in which there was nothing but swords.

The scene that unfolded was somewhat similar to the domain of sword that Darren had comprehended before. However, the difference was that all the swords he saw now were alive.

Swish! Swish! Swish!

The next moment, the swords flew through the void in a complex trajectory. They finally formed a set of stairs with six steps.

"Each time your soul ascends one stair, you will succeed in comprehending one stage of the sword formula.

However, I have to remind you that you are not the only one who has learned this sword formula."

When the white-haired man spoke, he waved his hand to pull the hexagram into Darren's elixir field.

"I'm not the only one? Who else?" Darren asked, curious.

"I have had more than three thousand disciples in my life. Each one of them has learned this sword formula," the white-haired man replied.

"Three thousand?" Darren was a little surprised. "What happened to them? Did they succeed in comprehending it?"

The white-haired man turned around and looked towards the entrance of the cave. "I don't know either, because I have expelled every disciple who learned the formula. Some of them have already died; some have hidden to practice, but no one has ever returned."

"Why? Why did you expel them?" Darren asked, visibly confused.

"Simple. Those who practice this formula are destined for enmity. If and when they meet each other, they will fight to the death. That's why I need to expel them. If they meet each other... Well, that depends entirely on their luck," the white-haired man explained.

This made Darren even more confused.

This meant that he would potentially have many enemies. After all, not all of the three thousand disciples could have died.

"Those who practice the same martial skill will become enemies. How bizarre," Darren said, incredulously.

"No, it's not bizarre. Only one person can successfully practice a martial skill of a supreme god. The martial skill I just taught you is half a roll left by a supreme god who had already died. Otherwise, if you and I practiced this skill, we would be killed even if we were in different worlds. This is the unique law of the Primitive Wilderness."

"But, wait... Now that you and I practice the same martial skill, why aren't we enemies?" Darren asked.

His master had taught three thousand disciples this formula, which meant that the three thousand disciples should also be his enemies. Now that Darren had learned the formula, it meant that they were enemies, too.

"To activate this law, you have to ascend the second step of the sword formula. We are not enemies... for now," the white-haired man said.

"Oh, I see. So if I successfully ascend the second step, I have to leave. Otherwise, you will kill me, right?" Darren asked.

"Theoretically, yes. But this time, it's up to you whether you want to leave or not. I will be dead in a year's time," the white-haired man said.

"Why? How can you predict your death?" Darren was curious as to why his master was so sure he would die. He was too strong to die of a disease, and it seemed like nothing on earth could harm him.

"Because she is coming."

"Who is she?"

"A powerful fiend."

The white-haired man said no more. He turned his back to Darren before speaking again. "You can go now. This cave will not be helpful in increasing the strength of an upper-level primary god. You can't set foot on a higher cave now, so I suggest you leave."

With that, the white-haired man disappeared.

Darren had too many doubts clouding his mind. However, his master had left. He shook his head to clear it of his thoughts. Darren got dressed and fixed himself up before going out. Now, the most important thing was to see Elsa.

Whoosh!

Darren flew out and immediately used his spiritual sense to look for Elsa.

"Humph! You're finally out!"

Olivia snorted. She seemed to have been waiting under the cliff for a very long time.
