Lisa took her stuff and stood outside the chairman’s office. She still couldn’t believe what happened at that meeting.

She was his best secretary and she had worked for him for four years!

“Mr. Grant, I’m sorry, please forgive me. Can I stay? I’ll take any punishment but this!”

Lisa was always a proud person but now she had to beg.

Although many other companies gave her a lot of offers, she thought they were not good enough for her. But now if she was fired, no company would take her.

Curtis looked at Matthew who seemed not to hear her words. He was talking to Blanca and didn’t even look at Lisa for a second.

“Miss Anderson, here’s the thing,” Curtis pushed his glasses up his nose and said, “you should know better than this. Mr. Grant has known what you’ve done and didn’t make you look too bad.”

Curtis shook his head.

He had been working with her for four years. If she hadn’t set Blanca up, she might have a much greater career.

“Curtis, I know I did something wrong. Please tell him...”

Curtis shook his head again and the security guard went forward to take her out.

Matthew didn’t even bother to look. He took Blanca back to the office. Hearing Lisa begging outside, Blanca felt weird. She could tell that Lisa had been a very good secretary.

“What? You want her to stay?”

Blanca shook her head and sat on the couch. She looked at Matthew and realized that they were still quite different.

Because Matthew could determine other people’s fate.

Blanca was tired, but she still asked, “How did you know she set me up?”

Matthew’s eyes darkened.

Come to think of it, he was quite disappointed. He knew things wouldn’t be so simple so he asked Curtis to investigate the whole matter. And they finally found out Lisa was behind Mary’s scheme.

He had always been expecting more from Lisa. It was such a shame.

She had been working in the Empire Group ever since she graduated from school. Back then, Matthew just took control of the company and had been working late a lot. Lisa would always be there to work with him and she even cried several times when she made some mistakes at work. But she would always do better at last.

Matthew thought she was just competitive and he appreciated such qualities.

But she shouldn’t lay her fingers on him and his wife.

“Yesterday was a setup. Now Marry and Lisa had all got what they deserved. This is their own fault.”

Matthew was always good at these kinds of things.

It was the first time Blanca had seen Matthew deal with things with an iron fist. In less than ten minutes, he made a statement which intimidated everyone and fired Lisa.

“I’m sorry.”

Thinking of what Mr. Brown said, she felt quite guilty.

Back then, she just thought Matthew was out of the line. But after hearing what Mrs. Brown said and knowing that clothes belonged to his mother, she suddenly understood him.

Blanca touched the necklace on her neck and felt upset.

Every child would defend their parents. But why would her parents abandon her so cruelly?

Blanca lowered her head.

“Where are you, mom, dad?”
