Please Let Me Go novel Chapter 75

Flora was sleeping when Clarissa got home. She got rid of her uncomfortable high heels, and the sprain hurt so much that she screamed out loud.

Hearing her daughter’s voice, Flora hastily came to her, finding Clarissa was rubbing her ankle while cursing Adelaide.

Flora saw the serious bruise and asked anxiously, “What happened, sweetheart?”

“It was because of the bitch!” She angrily kicked her high heels, which hurt her toes.

Flora quickly ran to her room on barefoot and returned with a bottle of medicine liquor.

She applied the medicine liquor to her daughter’s ankle and said, “Just a little bit painful. Take it easy.”

“Ouch! It hurts!” Clarissa couldn’t smother her screams.

Clarissa’s pain squeezed Flora’s heart and she cursed Adelaide with her daughter together, not knowing what happened.

After a bout of bad temper, the doorbell rang off. Flora looked at her daughter with confusion as she didn’t expect to see anyone else on the eve of the Spring Festival. Still, she opened the door.

“Damla?”

After several interactions, it seemed that Flora got along well with Ivy.

Ivy entered the house in frustration. When she saw Clarissa in the chair, she asked, “Clarissa, have you been to the Baron’s dinner?”

“Yes, I was there but Antonio’s grandma didn’t like me and she asked me to go home. My sister…she pushed” Clarissa suddenly stopped her words.

“Nonsense!”

Nobody could know Clarissa better than her mother did. Flora knew what her daughter was up to, and she instantly put on a show with her daughter.

Smelling the odor of the medicine liquor, Damla found the bruise on Clarissa’s ankle. She squealed, “Jesus Crist! What happened?” Thinking of Clarissa’s unfinished words, she asked, “Have you been pushed by Mrs. Baron?”

Clarissa shook her head as her tears trickled down her cheeks.

“She’s out of line. I have to tell Mr. Antonio.”

Clarissa instantly signaled her mother with a look, and Flora hastily held Damla’s hand. “No, you can’t. Otherwise, Antonio will think that Clarissa and me take it too personally. Well, after all, we failed Adelaide. We’re fine as long as the baby is safe.”

Damla was so guileless that she believed what she had been told. Ans she sighed as she was sorry for Adelaide’s rudeness.

Then they stepped to the living room together as Damla whined about what she had been through.

She thought she’d return home for her family reunion on the eve of the Spring Festival as Antonio and Adelaide both left home for the Baron’s dinner. However, Antonio told her to watch over the house as they’d return home at night, which got her annoyed.

Then Antonio called her that they got too drunk to drive home and that she could leave for home. But it was already twelve at night, and she’d bother the children’s sleep if she got home in two hours.

So she came for them to reprimand of her annoying boss.

Now she thought Antonio was much more annoying and overbearing after hearing what happened to Clarissa. She believed that all the blame was on Adelaide.

Therefore, led by Flora and Clarissa, Damla worked with them on some dirty tricks to punish Adelaide. Then she returned home at the late night.

Adelaide and Antonio came home on the following morning, and Damla quickly tipped Flora and Clarissa off. Soon they showed at the door of Antonio’s with bags of gifts in their hands. Antonio and Adelaide were about to make love when Damla told them they had visitors.

Adelaide rolled her eyes at Antonio who was also quite confused.

Since they couldn’t chase them away, Adelaide changed her clothes to visit their visitors with Antonio together.

Their conversation was boring and brief as they had nothing to talk about.

“Well, I guess it’s time for you to go home.”

Antonio failed to suppress his impatience as his face darkened.

“Fine. We’re leaving now.”

However, they had been visiting them on the following days. Ever since the third day of the new year, many of Antonio’s business partners came to visit him, too.

Every time there were guests coming to visit them, Flora and Clarissa would soon show up at their door.

Then, in the presence of other guests, Antonio couldn’t ask them to leave in darkened face. Even worse, reluctant as Adelaide was, she had to act as if she and Clarissa were sisters in good relationship.

After getting back in the rooms upstairs, they’d put away their smiles and ordered Adelaide to grab some snacks for them as if Adelaide was their servant.

Everyday Adelaide suffered their dirty tricks. She started to wonder if they placed a monitor in the house, so she hired someone to find the monitor after Antonio went to work, but there were no monitors.

It suddenly dawned on her that maybe they’ve got an insider in the house.

Adelaide summoned Damla and Bruno to warn them off tipping others off, or she’d punish the traitor.

Bruno didn’t understand her warnings while Damla said unhappily, “She doubts that we’re undercovers of someone else.”

She didn’t tell Antonio about her doubts as she didn’t want him to get worried. However, Damla screamed that if Adelaide doubted their loyalty, they’d report it to Antonio and resign.

Adelaide sighed and lied that she had lost a valuable thing, and that she wanted to make sure it had nothing to do with them.

After the warning, Clarissa and Flora hadn’t come to visit them.

Then Adelaide left the whole thing behind. After the holiday ended, Antonio was busy with his work as sometimes she couldn’t see him for days

Fortunately, her best friend kept her company. As days went by, she became happier as she’d have her baby delivered soon.

To kill the time, she often learned how to make knitted baby hats and socks from the servants next door when she wasn’t reading.
