President’s Twins: Buy One, Get One Free novel Chapter 113

The room full of roses and the apology in the card eased her worries over these couple of days. But after she composed herself and sat down, she remained troubled about the situation.

Joseph was a responsible person although he looked cold and lofty. He was always responsible towards his woman or his child. She was clear about this after spending so much time with him.

But this was not the reason that she could be assured of leaving Noah with him.

Hayden was worried about Noah’s condition and maintained contact with the hospital. When she found out that Noah did not have food poisoning and his condition was caused by a cold and fever, instead of being relieved, she actually felt worse.

From her point of view, although Joseph kept saying that he doted on Noah and taken good care of him, she felt that he was not detailed enough. From the first time they met when the lamp almost fell onto him and thereafter he fell sick several times, it looked like he had not taken good care of the child.

She intended to find some time to have a good discussion with him about the child.

As she was thinking about it, her assistant Jeff knocked on the door and entered.

“Ms. Downey, the head office called and wants to do a spot check. Mr. Beckham and several directors will be coming to the hotel for an inspection. Should we make any preparations?”

Hayden came to her senses and said, “No need for any special preparations. Just do as per normal. When will they arrive?”

“The head office said that Mr. Beckham is already on his way. He should be here in fifteen minutes.”

“Okay, inform Mr. Brown who is in charge of the main lobby today and a few supervisors on duty to go with me to receive them. All the rest will attend to their respective duties.” After she instructed Jeff, she straightened her professional attire and walked out of her office calmly.

Joseph didn’t like anyone to put up a show for him. Since he and the directors wanted to come for an inspection, then they would want to see the regular everyday condition of the hotel. She was confident of herself and had nothing to be nervous about the inspection.

Not long after Hayden arrived at the lobby, three black cars stopped in front of the hotel. Two men in business suits who looked forty to fifty years old exited the cars. Needless to say, they were the directors and walked abreast Joseph into the hotel.

Hayden looked directly at Joseph and then thought about the fresh flowers in her office. She smiled sweetly and then nodded as she greeted, “Mr. Beckham.”

Mr. Brown greeted the other directors and then introduced them to Hayden, “I don’t have to introduce Mr. Beckham. These two gentlemen are Director Davis and Director Garcia. I believe Ms. Downey hasn’t met them before.”

Hayden bowed gently and reached out to shake their hands.

The two directors looked very stern and did not smile nor did they say anything. They only said that they wanted to see the hotel’s environment. Hayden arranged for two managers on duty to bring them around while she followed behind as she felt rather uneasy.

When the directors were looking at the suite, they started to point and comment about the color of the curtains. Joseph listened on one side and nodded occasionally. Hayden started to note down their comments in a notebook. Although she didn’t know what it was for, she certainly knew that she should remember what they said.

After the inspection, the directors wanted to hold a meeting in ten minutes with the middle and upper management of the hotel.

Mr. Brown went to arrange for the meeting while Hayden returned to her office to take prepare some meeting materials. Just as she reached the door, she met Joseph who just came out from the restroom.

Joseph looked at her and appeared surprised as he said, “There will be some VIPs coming for discussions in a couple of days. If all goes as planned, they would be staying at this hotel. To prevent any incidents, we’ve come here to inspect the environment.”

Joseph had not spoken to her since he said those harsh words to her at the hospital. He didn’t expect that Hayden didn’t seem to be affected by it as if she wasn’t even bothered by it.

“VIP’s staying here?” Hayden’s expression tensed up but she didn’t notice the changes in Joseph’s expression and asked, “Then does it mean that we will have to clear out all the guests and increase the security?”

“Yes indeed. The meeting later will be about this matter.”

Hayden nodded and pushed open her office door and said, “I’ll get some materials and head for the meeting immediately.”

As she opened the door, the strong scent of the roses drifted out. Joseph paused as he was about to leave and unconsciously looked into the roses-filled office.

He suddenly frowned tightly. So this was why she wasn’t even bothered by what happened at the hospital. It looked like she had been very busy recently.

“About the security…” Hayden said as she took her materials but then she realized that Joseph did not wait for her at the door. She immediately felt awkward but thankfully there wasn’t anyone around. She coughed twice before walking to the conference room.

The meeting was as what Joseph said. The two directors came because of the visiting VIPs. They emphasized the importance of security and the level of service. They also touched on the quality of the food.

“When will the VIPs arrive?”

“In three days’ time.”

“That’s too rushed. What are we going to do with the hotel guests?” Hayden frowned and continued “We can make alternate arrangements for those who have not checked in but how are we going to clear out the existing guests?”

Everyone in the meeting exchanged looks and ascertained that this was a problem.

Within three days, they had to cancel those who had pre-booked and they also had to convince the existing guests to leave. That would enrage the guests as who would want to deal with the hassle of changing a hotel.

When everyone was commenting, a cold and lofty voice said over the commotion, “If you need to ask us how to handle such a simple matter, then why do we need a person to be in charge of the hotel?”

What he said was direct and to the point. Everyone in the meeting was stunned and turned to look at Hayden with sympathy.

Hayden’s expression froze and pursed her lips, “I understand. I will try my best to handle this properly.”

“Not try, but you must do your best! When the group hired you to run this hotel, you should be clear that we did not hire you because of your fake resume.” Joseph said coldly and the chill in his eyes prevented anyone from looking directly at him.

He wanted to mention the dissatisfaction he had with her work performance but although he held back those comments, he revealed the issue about her fake resume and work experiences.

Hayden was extremely embarrassed by this.

Everyone quickly dispersed after the meeting and Joseph left the hotel without saying a word to Hayden.

The hotel staff stood by the hotel entrance and heaved a sigh of relief when they saw Joseph and the two directors leave in the cars.

Jeff whispered to Hayden, “Ms. Downey, have you offended Mr. Beckham?”

Hayden frowned deeply and glared at Jeff, “Who knows? That Lunatic!”

Wasn’t this absurd? He gave her flowers in the morning and then this was his behavior in the afternoon!
