President’s Twins: Buy One, Get One Free novel Chapter 181

“Are you still going to sweat your guts out for the ST Hotel, after all what they did to you?”

Cleveland had a playful tone of voice.

Hayden frowned, feeling an emptiness.

The way the ST Hotel settled this matter was indeed disappointing. The Safety Department was the one responsible for the fire incident, but she was then suspended.

She was not dumb and she knew who instructed it.

Joseph didn’t let her resign but instead suspending her. And this was obviously to retaliate against her for his personal gain.

Hayden could have just accepted it when Cleveland offered an olive branch at this moment.

“Mr. Sanchez, I’m not sure what kind of position that you can give me. Besides ability, I do not accept any sympathy or nepotism.”

Freddie looked like shit, as Hayden mentioned about nepotism.

“Of course it’s because of your ability. I don’t know why Joseph would only put you in the position lobby manager. In my case, I think you have a greater use.”

Cleveland said confidently as if he had had his eye on Hayden and wanted to poach her.

“Such as?”

“As my executive secretary.”

“No way...”

Freddie’s voice sounded with a conflicted look on his face before Hayden could speak. “Hayden would never be your secretary. Hayden, don’t you promise him. He’s up to no good.”

Hayden felt helpless, seeing Freddie’s anxious look. She then glanced at Cleveland, “You see. Even Freddie who had known you more than I do, says that you are up to no good. How can I still join you?”

Cleveland didn’t explain but just frowning, “I think you just can’t bear the thought of leaving the ST Hotel. I won’t force you if you don’t want to come. But if you’ve changed your mind, you’re always welcome.”

“It’s not that I’m unwilling to leave, just that Mr. Sanchez, your company is really unsuitable for me. I think I’ll just find another way out.”

Cleveland had a thought flickered in his mind, “Do you mean that you’re not intending to stay in the ST Hotel anymore?”

Hayden glanced at Cleveland with a smile, not wanting to talk about it any further. Although the Sanchez family was friendly with the Beckham family, they were still competitors in business. As one of the ST Group staff, Hayden had the right not to tell him any personnel changes within the company.

Hayden always felt that Cleveland had a bad intention, and it was better to beware of him.

“Do you really think of resigning from the ST Hotel?”

As Hayden came back home, Alayna Cole asked about the matter in the car just now.

Hayden put on her flippers and went to the kitchen to boil water, with her back facing Alayna, “Well, there’s too much private matters and it’s not good to involve it in my work.”

“Then why didn’t you agree with Cleveland? Being his executive secretary is way more prestigious than just being a lobby manager in ST Hotel.”

Alayna took off her evening dress, casually picked up a white shirt and put it on. She sat on the sofa, exposing her fair legs.

“He was eager to get involved with Freddie and now with me too. Can’t you see it?”

Cleveland was a businessman, not a philanthropist. Seeing that Hayden was out of work, he gave her a good job out of sympathy. And this was obviously taking advantage of her.

Alayna raised her brow, feeling disagree, “You think too much of it. Overthinking is bad for you and others too. In my opinion, you should lay it on the line with Joseph. Don’t hide it anymore.”

The water was boiled. Hayden poured two cups of water and went over to sit down, handing Alayna a cup.

“That’s easy for you to say. But this isn’t the right timing to say about it. What if he doesn’t intend to be with me anymore? Now telling him that the kids are his, he would certainly want the custody of the kids. I know myself well. I can’t win him in a lawsuit.”

The Beckham family had a great influence in Nanking. If Joseph really wanted Stella Downey’s custody, she could only let things slide.

“Can’t you just think of the good side? If Joseph knew that the two kids are his, then there won’t be any doubts about you favouring the kids. The misunderstanding between the two of you would have lifted too.”

“It’s not like that at all.” Hayden furrowed her brows.

“Then tell me, how do you think? What do you want Joseph to do?”

Alayna sat up straight. It was her first time she didn’t stand on Hayden’s side to speak for her. “You always think that Joseph is unfair to you for asking too much of you. But had you been fair to him? He didn’t even know that Stella is his daughter.”

Hayden fell silent, and the room was hushed.

After a long time, Alayna got up and patted on her shoulder, “Think about it yourself. It’s your own business after all. My advice for you is to bring the issue out. If it really happens to have a lawsuit, did you forget that Edison is abroad? He will never let the custody of Stella be taken away by others.”

After Alayna left, Hayden sat alone in the living room until late at night.

She had always been weighing the pros and cons in her relationship with Joseph. But she didn’t feel anything wrong. She was a mother whose child was abducted five years ago. Even if she resented Joseph, she had the right to do this too.

Back to the bedroom, Alayna saw the missed call on her phone and called back.

“What’s the matter?”

Kevin’s voice sounded from the other end, with a feeling of excitement, “I’ll be back from my business trip tomorrow and I’ll be on leave for a period of time. Come and go out with me.”

“You’re on leave doesn’t mean that I’m on leave too. Why do I have to go out with you?”

“I heard that Joseph had a quarrel with Hayden. Don’t you want them to be reconciled? Let’s go out together, bringing them along.”

“I don’t give a shit.” Alayna said in an indifferent tone, “It’s their business for quarrelling. If you want to be a peacemaker, let it be. I’m not doing this anyway.”

Kevin seemed to have misheard her, “A wilderness survival in a desert island or a leisure vacation. Which do you choose?”

“The desert island.”

“It’s settled then. I’ll prepare the things and you just get ready to set off.”

Kevin had a good understanding of the way that Alayna behaved. For now, he could tell that she liked or disliked it from her tone, and it had nothing to do with what she had said.

The next morning, Alayna told Hayden about the outing before she went to work.

“And this is a good opportunity, since there is no one else on the island too, you can lay it on the line and tell Joseph.”

Hayden nodded after pondering for a moment.

Alayna could tell that Hayden didn’t get a good sleep last night from her dark circles. She seemed to be thinking of whether or not to have a face-off with Joseph for the whole night.

“Any plans for afternoon?” Alayna asked casually before leaving.

“I’m going to see my daughter at Harrison’s place.”

“You leave your daughter at the Beckham’s house every now and then, just to have an excuse to see your son. You’re so scheming.”

“That’s my son.”

“Yeah, yeah. It’s your son. No one denies it, but just you who don’t want to admit it.

Alayna grabbed the keys, “I’ll stop talking with you now. I’m late for work. Bye.”

“Walk yourself out.”
