Rejected By My Mate novel Chapter 19

I released a long sigh and cleared my throat. They are waiting for me to talk. Sabrina nodded and that's my cue to start.

"I have been keeping this for a long time. I think it's time for you to know," I paused as I looked at them, "I have three spirits." I revealed.

I waited for their reaction. It's like they were processing my revelation. Sabrina's forehead creased in confusion and later, the other two creased their foreheads too.

"What do you mean?" they all mumbled in unison.

I sighed. This is hard as I thought. "You already know that I am a hybrid right?" they all nodded.

"So, at the start, I have only one spirit and that is my inner wolf named Xandra." I paused and eyed them. I looked at Layla and spoke, "Layla, do you remember when I was drenching in blood?" she nodded.

"The time when I ran away from you is the time my inner vampire, Val, and my inner witch, Willow, had talked to me. So, I learned that I have three spirits with me." I explained.

They all went silent as they tried to process the information.

"That is strange, Alex, I have never read anything like that in the Chosen One book. The book never mentioned a hybrid having three spirits. I mean, hybrids consist of different genes but this information you shared is new." Sabrina uttered suspiciously.

I nodded and said, "Not everything was stated in the book, Sabrina. Sometimes, you should rely on the information based on what you see and hear. Books are just there to give you some information but not full details. Like the prophecy book, it never gives exact information. It is just there giving warning for future happenings. But every future might change for some unknown reasons."

All three stared at me in amusement. "You're right, Alex. Ugh, you're really a mystery! You are the exact definition of a prophecy book!" Sabrina mumbled.

I giggled, "Well, I'm the living proof of a hybrid and you should expect to find out more about me." she nodded.

"Okay, let's call it a day. We will resume tomorrow morning. I have to go back to my castle before my fellow witches notice I am long gone." Sabrina uttered.

"Wait---I still have to tell you something."

"What is it?"

"Now, you already know that I have three spirits right?" they nodded, "So, for some reasons we can all switch. One of these days, maybe one of my spirits will be fronted. It's either Xandra, Val or Willow, it depends on the situation."

They all gasped. "How will we know if it isn't you?" Azrael mumbled.

I smiled at them and said, "You will easily detect who we are. Val has red eyes, Xandra has ocean blue eyes and Willow has forest green eyes." they all nodded.

"Are they nice?" Layla asked. I smile.

"It's for you to find out." I said while giggling. Layla pouted.

"So, is that all, Alex?" Sabrina asked and I nodded.

"You can go now, Sabrina." I mumbled and she nodded.

We all stood up and Sabrina casted a spell again to remove the barriers.

Azrael walked by my side and I smiled at him. He smiled back and held my hand which surprised me. My three spirits screamed in my head. Ugh, what the h*ll? I rolled my eyes. They were so excited to be known by our mate.

Azrael, Layla and I went to the garden. I saw some maids doing house chores. I asked one of them if I could help but they all declined. I miss doing house chores though.

I smiled when I saw white flowers and smelled them. It smells nice.

"Hmm, it smells so nice." Layla mumbled beside me. I smile at her.

"Alex!" I looked behind my back when Azrael called me. I raised an eyebrow when I saw him smiling widely at me. He was hiding something behind his back. He walked towards me still grinning from ear to ear.

"What?" I asked when he's in front of me. He gave me a big smile and stepped closer towards me. I was stunned with his gestures. His face slowly leaned in to me and I swallowed my saliva in anticipation. His smile grew even wider and he raised his hands. Then I noticed what he was holding. A white rose without thorns, looks like he took the thorns. He slipped the rose behind my ear and smiled.

"There, you look even more beautiful." he mumbled and I feel like my face reddened. He chuckled. I saw his eyes sparkling. He's happy. I smiled at him and mumbled, "Thanks."

I heard footsteps running away. I turned and couldn't help myself but frowned when I saw Layla running towards the mansion.

What happened to her? Layla was acting weird. I really have to talk to her. It bothers me so much.

"Layla is weird." Azrael mumbled. I hummed and looked at him.

"Azrael, is it okay with you if I will follow Layla? I need to talk to her. Something was bothering her these days." I said and he nodded.

I walked towards the mansion and looked for Layla. Where did she go? I walked up the stairs into her room when her scent was stronger there.

Do you think Layla has problems?

I don't know, Xandra.

She's really acting weird.

Yeah.

I sighed. Something off about Layla. She was fine earlier.

When I reached her door, I knocked slightly. I heard her sniffles. I frowned.

"Layla? Can we talk?" I said. There was silence. Then I heard her walking towards the door but I can sense her hesitation. She's debating herself whether to talk to me or not. Until she opened the door. A look of relief washed over her face when she saw I was alone. I noticed her eyes were fluffy and red. She was crying.

She led me inside her room and closed the door then locked it. I sat at the edge of the bed and she also sat beside me. "What's wrong, Layla?" I asked. She bowed down her head while playing with her hands.

"Nothing." she mumbled and it irritated me.

"Layla, I know something was wrong with you. Please talk to me." Layla heaved a sigh.

"Please, Alex, leave it. I'm not ready to talk about it." I sighed frustratedly.
