Revenge On My First Love novel Chapter 329

Chapter 329 Spencer Showed His Kindness

"You are a daughter from the Lawson family, but he might not show respect for you."

Drake finally put down his phone. "How about me?"

Chloe glanced at him. "Beats me. By the way, you borrowed money from King of the Underworld, didn't you? What does he look like? Is he an old, fat man with yellowish teeth?"

Drake's lips twitched, but he looked calm the next second.

"I didn't meet him in person."

Chloe exclaimed, "Gosh! I didn't expect him to be so mysterious. If you haven't met him, who else has?"

"Answer me. Do you think he'll show some respect for me?" Drake insisted on getting an answer.

Looking at him, Chloe answered, "I thought he would show respect for you. However, you failed to meet him in person. Well, I don't think so."

Sophia didn't overthink while watching them. If King of the Underworld didn't care about Drake, he was indeed a man of status.

After Chloe left the office, Drake walked to Sophia. "Are you also curious about King of the Underworld?"

Sophia didn't deny it. "Of course. I accidentally read a few novels for men. Sometimes, the author created a role like King of the Underworld. However, it was my first time hearing of such a person in real life. I'm stunned."

"Why?"

"How could a man be so wealthy? My family is affluent. However, according to Chloe's words, I think our wealth is no match for his."

Drake failed to repress his laughter and chuckled, "Is it essential to be rich?"

"Of course not. I'm just curious to know what kind of man can become King of the Underworld."

Modern society was ruled by law. In the past, such a person could exist. However, he had been exiting for almost eight years. Sophia couldn't help wondering about his competence.

"Look at me!"

"Ehn?"

Sophia looked into Drake's eyes, surprised to find he was angry.

"If King of the Underworld met you in person one day, and you found he wasn't old, ugly, or fat without yellowish teeth, would you fall in love with him?"

Looking baffled, Sophia stared at him. "What's wrong with you? Are you jealous?"

Suddenly, she chuckled, "Seriously? Why are you suddenly jealous? Just because I'm curious about King of the Underworld?"

"Although I'm curious about him, I cannot fall in love with him. All right?"

"You cannot?"

Sophia was confused about Drake's mood changes.

What was wrong? Had she offended him unwittingly?

"Wait. What's going on, Drake?"

After a while, Drake sighed, "Nothing. Would you be mad at me if I hid something from you, Sophia?"

"It depends on what you've hidden from me. If it wasn't something serious, I wouldn't."

"What if..."

Drake broke off and bit back the words on his lips.

He decided to explain it to her some other day.

Since Sophia had become the owner of Barnett Group, the news went viral in Sealand.

All people were dumbfounded. They hadn't expected her to be so successful after staying in Sealand for three years.

She had got Asco Group fully under her control. When Sophia was about to work at Barnett Group, two men visited her.

One was Spencer, and the other was Hank.

Lifting an eyebrow, Sophia was puzzled about why they had come to her.

Spencer said politely, which was pretty rare, "Hi, Ms. Lawson. May we have the pleasure of talking to you in your office? It won't take long."

Sophia was surprised, looking at Drake.

Drake seemed to read her mind. "She's going to Barnett Group soon. Please make it quick."

"Sure, Mr. Riley. Thanks."

Although they only guessed Drake was King of the Underworld, they believed he was someone of high status as he had bought out such a big company as Barnett Group without the Riley family's help.

Sophia returned to her office with the two men and closed the door.

Spencer presented his prepared agreement to her.

"Ms. Lawson, I'm here to withdraw my shares. From now on, I won't be involved in the company management."

"Oh?"

Looking surprised, Sophia picked up the agreement.

When she read the words about withdrawing his shares, she asked in confusion, "Mr. Porter, why did you make such a decision?"

Spencer sighed. "Sorry, Ms. Lawson. I've been too blind and stupid earlier. I repeatedly fought against you. Now I realized how ridiculous I was. I do apologize for what I've done. Therefore, I'm willing to give out some shares. I only need 70% of the stock market price for the rest."

Sophia had never expected him to retreat in this way.

After Harris had become the new mayor, Sophia was thinking about what Spencer was going to do.

But his decision shocked her.

"Mr. Porter, have you made up your mind? If you sold the shares at such a low price to me, you couldn't regret it later."

"I know, Ms. Lawson. I've thought it over in the past few days. This world belongs to youngsters now. I'm too old to get involved. I plan to travel abroad with my wife afterward."

Sophia could tell that Spencer had given up and wanted to quit for real, wondering if it was because of Barnett Group.

"However, I have a condition," Spencer suddenly added.

Sophia looked at him, listening.

Spencer glanced at Hank and continued, "When I made the decision, Hank wanted to follow me to quit. Ms. Lawson, you are so brilliant, so you must have known Hank has worked for me for a long time. However, he's still young and full of potential. I don't want him to quit his job."

"Ms. Lawson, if you trust me, please let Hank work for you from now on. He'll try his best to assist you. As I know, you also need talents in Barnett Group. I hope you can consider my suggestion."

Although it was his condition, Spencer sounded humble.

Sophia beamed at him. "Mr. Porter, I'm glad you've made such a decision. Let's stop cutting around the bush. I'll sign the contract, and you'll receive the money in three days."

Spencer immediately stretched his hand. "Please, no hurry. I trust you, Ms. Lawson. I believe you'll pay me. However, you may need enough money to run your new company, so I don't mind waiting a bit longer."

"It's alright, Mr. Porter. I can afford to pay you, at least. Besides, I don't like owing others favors."
