Revenge On My First Love novel Chapter 391

Chapter 391 I Won't Leave You Alone

Bailey pouted towards Drake, who was following Sophia.

Chloe wanted to stop him, but Bailey dragged her back. "Chloe, if you are needed, I won't stop you."

When Sophia and Drake arrived, the victim's family had come.

His wife sobbed, "Why did this happen to my husband? He was just having dinner. Why was he hurt so severely?"

Sophia walked to her and said apologetically, "I'm sorry. I didn't expect this accident to happen. Please don't worry. I'll be responsible."

"How? All our family members rely on his income. If he's dead, how are we supposed to live?"

Her attitude annoyed Sophia. Instead of feeling sorry, she snapped, "Ma'am, firstly, your husband hasn't died. Please calm down. OK?"

The woman was taken aback. Then she thought of something. "What are you talking about? I'm worried about my husband. Am I wrong?"

"I can't tell how worried you are. On the contrary, you seem to wish your husband could die."

"Mind your language!"

Before roaring at Sophia, the woman sensed the powerful aura from Drake, feeling fearful.

Sophia ignored her.

When a doctor left the emergency room, Sophia walked up. "How's he doing, Doc?"

"There's a small wound on his forehead. We've dealt with it. He also has mild concussion and needs to be observed in the hospital for a few days. If he's fine, he can check out soon."

The victim was indeed lucky.

Sophia had never expected to encounter such an accident in Sealand.

When the doctor was leaving, the victim's wife didn't let him go. "Doc, is my husband OK? The cell phone was smashed on him from upstairs. Are you sure he's fine?"

The doctor felt weird. "Ma'am, do you wish your husband to be in danger?"

"I..." The woman covered her awkwardness. "Not really. I mean I'm so glad he's fine."

The doctor explained, "Although he was smashed by the phone from above, he was lucky. It didn't hit his important part, so he wasn't hurt severely."

However, his words made the woman unhappy.

Sophia could see it, and so did Drake.

Sophia talked to the woman, "Ma'am, let's discuss how to resolve this matter."

The latter said, "Although my husband is fine, he can't go to work in the following days. Also, his company will suffer a loss. I'll need to find him a nursing worker. Are you sure you can afford it?"

Sophia got the hint and asked directly, "Ma'am, how much do you want? Just say it."

The woman looked her up and down. "I wonder if you can afford it."

Sophia tried to keep calm. There were all kinds of people in the world, and she didn't have to get angry.

"At least five million dollars," the woman added.

'Five million dollars?'

She was indeed greedy. Even 100, 000 dollars were more than enough to compensate her husband.

Before Sophia replied, Drake pressed her wrist and looked at the woman.

"Five million dollars? Are you sure you can accept that much money?"

His presence made the woman feel pressure.

The woman felt he had seen through her.

She avoided his gaze subconsciously. "Five million dollars. No less. If you are unwilling to pay, I'll sue you in court."

Drake sneered, "I'm afraid you won't get a penny in court. We'll compensate you 100, 000 dollars. Do you want it or not?"

The woman looked back at him in disbelief. "Think we're vagabonds? Just 100, 000 dollars?"

"Don't be too greedy. If you accept it, I'll transfer it to you at once. If not, don't even think of getting a penny from us."

The woman had never seen such a man before, feeling reluctant.

They had made a mistake, but they were more aggressive than her.

"Let's go!"

Drake grabbed Sophia's hand and was about to leave.

Sophia furrowed her eyebrows. Five million dollars was a small figure for her. In her opinion, anything that could be resolved by money wasn't trouble.

However, Drake refused to let her do so.

Seeing them leaving, the woman was baffled. "Wait! What's wrong? If you don't give me the money, I'll call the police."

"Go ahead."

Sealand was Drake's territory. He wouldn't let a woman blackmail him.

"You!"

The woman panicked while watching them leave.

However, there was a huge gap between five million and 100, 000 dollars.

After leaving the hospital, Sophia pushed Drake's hands away. "Mr. Riley, it's my matter. Can you stay away from it?"

"You are my mother's student and Chloe's bestie. I must take care of you no matter what happens in Sealand."

Sophia thought that was his excuse.

They both knew it.

"Thank you, Mr. Riley. I can deal with it well. Also, I forgot to give you something when I met you several times earlier."

"I brought you something. Here you go."

Sophia pulled out a box she had carried for many years and shoved it into his hands.

Then she turned around and returned to the hospital.

Drake knew the thing well. Although it was inside a box, he recognized it was the pink diamond necklace he had auctioned for her years ago.

Sophia returned it to him, and he immediately understood the implication.

They might still have some connections before. However, after the necklace was returned, the tie between them was utterly cut off.

Pinching the box, Drake returned to the hospital, too. Instead of catching up with Sophia, he stood in a corner and watched.

Sophia was competent in negotiation. Over the years, Drake had watched her. Although she had inherited the Lawson family's company, she was more capable than any other man while helping the Greenspan family.

"I'll give you 200, 000 dollars. That's more than enough. If you still refuse, I can't do anything."

'200, 000 dollars? More than 100, 000 earlier.'

The woman had thought Sophia and Drake wouldn't return after leaving.
