Savage Mates novel Chapter 61

Chapter Sixty-One: But she’s human
“Jason.’ Nicole said, her eyes going wide at my words. That I was mated to Jake’s ex. ‘She is a human.
“She is, but she’s my mate, Nic.” I said, watching the shock spread over her face.
“You’re an alpha.” She shook her head and I realized that this was going to be something that was hard for her to accept
“And Tillie is my fated mate.” I growled, speaking slowly as if that would help her understand what I was saying.
“Wh, what about Kelly?”
“Nic, could you stay away from your fated mate, even knowing he had a girlfriend?” I asked, already knowing the answer. The pull of finding their mate was too strong for either of them to resist and it had put Jillie in my path. They hadn’t been able to wait, just like I hadn’t been able to either. ‘Kelly always knew that it wasn’t forever. If she had found her mate first, I wouldn’t have expected her to stay with me.’
“But she’s human. What about your kids? What if they’re human, too?’ Nicole’s eyes flashed and I let out a long sigh. ‘A human can’t lead the pack, Jason.” She kept saying it like it was something that I hadn’t thought about.
“It doesn’t matter to me if any offspring we have are human or not. I’ll love them all the same. I know it doesn’t matter to her other mates, either.”
“Other mates?” Jake asked.
I looked away from my sister, towards her mate. His tanned skin had gone pale and it looked like he had forgotten how to breathe. His eyes were no longer darkened with his wolf, Instead, they were a warm chocolate color.
“Yes, she has more than one mate.”
“Baby, you should sit down. I’m worried you’ll pass out.” Nicole said, tugging at his hand. He let her pull him over to sit in the leather chair beside her. When my sister was sure her mate wasn’t about to pass out, she looked back at me.
Jason, she’s human.”
‘Nicole.’ I growled, shooting her a glare. I didn’t like to use my alpha sway on her, but if she kept it up, I was going to.
“No, I mean, you’re a wolf shifter. I didn’t think any dragon thralls were visiting. They mate in groups, right? Which one is
it?”
They’re not dragons ‘I said, taking a deep breath. This was going to be the thing that tested Nicole the most. She had always wanted Ryan and Travis. I was going to have to make sure that she knew they were off limits to her if she and Jake ever decided to split up or open their relationship up.
“Who is it then? She asked and I could see her pulse fluttering in her neck as she tried to keep herself calm. I think she knew deep down that there were only two people that I would have agreed to share a mate with.
“It’s Ryan and Travis.”
She leaned back in the seat, looking at her and Jake’s fingers that were tangled together. “I don’t know how I feel about that. Jas, we don’t, we don’t mate like that.”
“We have. Ryan, Travis, and I. We’ve all claimed Tillie, she’s ours.’ I was trying to have patience with my sister but it was rapidly fading. I had accepled her mate. I had hoped she would do the same for me, “She was fated to us.”
Jake sat forward, his shoulders straightening. “Congratulations, I’m happy to be mated with Nicole. Tillie is, was a good girlfriend. I know she’ll make a good mate for the three of you.” He swallowed hard before locking eyes with me. “If the three of you hurt her..” His threat hung in the air. It was unspoken, but he didn’t need to say it. I could see the threat in
his eyes.
The same goes for you. If you hurt my sister, I’ll hurt you.” I smirked, pinning him in place with a look.
“Stop threatening my mate. I can’t threaten yours.” Nicole growled out and I looked over at her. Her hazel eyes blazed as she stared me down. My lips twitched and I had to fight back a smile. Jake was going to have his hands full with her. She looked away from me, back at her mate. “And you, don’t forget that you are mine.”
Jake tilted his head to the side, bringing his hand up to the side of his neck. His lips slid into a slow smile. ‘I couldn’t forget that, little mate.”
I shook my head, watching the two of them. Some of my worries had eased. I could see how much Jake cared for my sister in the soft way that he was looking at her now.
Nicole was worried about me being with a human as an alpha. Yet, I had the feeling that I didn’t need to worry if my future children would be shifters or not.
I knew the reason my parents had struggled so much with her. Nicole was so much like me and you couldn’t tame an alpha. I knew if it came down to it, Nicole could lead the pack. She had it in her. She just needed to get over her worries about humans and shifters mating first. Or atleast, my human mate.
‘If that was all, I would like to get back to my mate,” I said, pushing back from my desk. “Nicole, Jake. I’m happy for the two of you.”
Nicole looked away from Jake, her eyes sparkling with happiness. Thank you, Jas. I, I’ll try to be as welcoming to your mate as I can. I know she and I, well, we didn’t get off on the right foot. I was kind of a bitch to her.”
“I’ve heard. Make sure and apologize to her when I introduce you to her as my mate.”
Nicole’s cheeks flushed, but she nodded.
‘You were just jealous, Nicole. It’s okay.” Jake said, pulling his hand from hers and wrapping an arm around her shoulders. He pulled her body against his and I watched Nicole almost melt against him. “I know you were just staking your claim.”
She smiled up at her mate and I hoped that things would smooth out between Nicole and Tillie. It would take time. She was hurt. I wanted them to get along.
I saw my sister and her mate out before jogging up the stairs to head back to my room. I hoped that Tillie was still awake. If she wasn’t, I would let her sleep for now. She would need it for what I had planned.
