Second Marriage novel Chapter 317

Georgia froze for a moment, then turned her body away from Manfred’s sight and explained softly, “Ms. Wilson woke up before you. She had eaten porridge and was not in any serious condition.”

Hearing that she was fine, and seeing her sitting there, though her face was still pale, he could see that she was in a better state of mind than the night before when she had a high fever.

Manfred pulled his pale thin lips which were dry, “Good.”

“Mr. Manfred, have some water.”

He did not move. He only looked at Charlotte.

Charlotte was also looking at him. She had just wanted to see if he was ok, but his hot eyes made her embarrassed. Georgia stood in front of him holding a glass of water, but he did not take it but stared at her.

“Ahem......” Charlotte coughed lightly, and then lifted the quilt and got out of bed.

She went to Georgia. With a smile, Georgia gave her the glass. Charlotte looked at her and saw her kind eyes. Georgia got up and said, “I go to buy something. I will come back soon.”

With that, she walked off with a brisk step in her high heels.

After Georgia left, Manfred gave a smile. His secretary always satisfied him.

“Manfred, drink some water.” Charlotte gave him the water and motioned for him to drink.

Manfred was silent. He did not take the glass but quietly looked at her.

“Are you not thirsty?” Charlotte was at a loss, holding the glass.

“I have no strength.” Said Manfred.

Charlotte did not understand what he meant at first. Did Manfred mean he had no strength to take the glass and needed her to feed him water?

Charlotte blushed all of a sudden. Under the gaze of Manfred, she was embarrassed and nervously put the glass on the table.

Noticing that, Manfred’s eyes became dim and then his lips moved, but he said nothing.

The atmosphere in the ward was so awkward that it was impossible for Charlotte to take the initiative to feed him with water because of her relationship with him. At most, she put the cup in front of him and let him drink by himself.

“Shall I get the nurse?”

Charlotte seemed to grasp a straw, turned around and wanted to go out to get the nurse. Manfred was helpless about that. She intended to get the nurse to help him with drinking water.

“Come back.” Cried he feebly.

She stopped in her steps and turned to him biting her lower lip.

She looked pathetic, as if Manfred made a difficult request, but he knew that it was difficult for her.

Thinking of this, Manfred lightly smiled, “It was just a joke.”

“I...”

“It was only a joke, I won’t do it now...I’m sorry.”

Charlotte looked up at him. Seeing his apology, she felt embarrassed and dropped her eyes. “I’m the one who should say sorry. You had saved me and done a lot for me, but I…”

She wouldn’t even feed him a glass of water.

But she really could not do that!

Manfred no longer made it hard for her, but stood up and reached out to take the glass on the table. Charlotte walked over and picked up the glass to him.

Manfred accidentally touched her hand, and Charlotte hurried to take her hand back. Fortunately Manfred had held the glass. Noticing Charlotte’s action, his eyes became dim.

He put the glass to his lips and took a few sips, moistening his throat before he said again, “I won’t do anything to you. You don’t have to be so afraid of me.”

Charlotte was embarrassed to hear that. She did not answer but stood aside.

After Manfred finished drinking water, she reached out to take the glass. Manfred said, “Go back to rest.”

Charlotte’s hand stiffened in mid-air and then she took it back after a while.

“I’m sorry...” After a long time, she apologized to Manfred, and then turned back to her hospital bed.

Manfred looked at her back and suddenly said, “Charlotte.”

Hearing this, Charlotte’s steps stopped but she did not turn back.

“Are you going back to him?”

Charlotte was quiet for a moment, and then turned her head. “Have I ever left him? There is a lot I don’t understand. I have to talk to him.”

“And after that? I saw that divorce agreement.”

Charlotte unconsciously clenched her hands and gritted her teeth.

“He has already wanted to divorce with you, if you go to him again, you will lose your dignity.”

“He won’t do it for no reason. There must be a reason. Manfred, you saved me. Have a good rest today, I will not run away, and I will go find him after I leave the hospital.”

Then Charlotte returned to her seat, and did not speak with Manfred again.

Manfred looked at her, feeling bitter.

He did not know how long this feeling would last.

His beloved woman was in front of him, but he had to send her to the man she liked, who didn’t cherish her.

This made Manfred angry. If possible, he wished to take away Charlotte and go to a corner of the world, as long as she did not see that man again.

However, he could not ignore Charlotte’s feelings.

If she cried in his face, gave him a pained look, he would feel he was a guilty person.

In that case, he would help her.

He would help her get everything she wanted. If she was happy, he should feel satisfactory.

Thinking of this, Manfred had made a decision in his mind.

After staying in the hospital for two whole days, Manfred said he wanted to leave the hospital. Charlotte was startled hearing the news, so was Georgia, because his injury was severe. The doctor said he must be at least more than five days in hospital, but he had only stayed for two days, but now he wanted to leave.

“Why are you eager to leave the hospital so soon? I have taken care of the business in the company. You can rest for a few days.”

Charlotte stood beside him, looking at him faintly, “Do you think you imprisoned me, so you want to leave the hospital early?”

Manfred gave a slight smile, “Fool, it is not like that. I am a man, these are just skin trauma, I can’t always stay in the hospital.”
