Second Marriage novel Chapter 376

Jack was disappointed. He didn’t go to sleep obediently. Instead, he went downstairs to pour a glass of milk for Alice.

“Mommy.”

Alice smelled the fragrance of milk. She realized that Jack had sent her a cup of milk. She paused and then looked up at him. She found that he was staring at her eagerly at this time.

It seemed that Jack was lonely and he needed Alice to accompany him.

Alice had been busy with her works these days. She didn’t go to sleep until midnight. After getting up, she continued her works. She had ignored Jack’s feelings.

Thought of this, Alice felt guilty.

She didn’t take the cup. Instead, she saved the files and turned off the computer instantly. She looked at Jack and then she received the cup in his hand. She said, “I’m sorry, Jack. I have been busy these days and ignored you. I’m so sorry.”

Then she held Jack in her arms tightly.

Jack wrapped his hands around her neck and whispered, “Mommy, it doesn’t matter. I know you are busy. I won’t mind it.”

“But I care about your feelings. I should have thought of it earlier. I won’t work at night and I will spend more time with you.”

Although Jack said that he didn’t mind her ignorance, his eyes lit up when he heard Alice’s words. After all, he was a child. Children always needed the company of their parents.

He didn’t have a father. She must give him more love.

Alice handed him the milk and said, “I don’t need to drink milk. Since you poured it, you can drink it.”

Jack blinked and replied, “Mommy, I poured it for you.”

Because the milk was poured by himself, Alice didn’t want to reject him and she said, “Okay, I’ll drink it.”

After Alice finished drinking the milk, she returned to the bed with Jack in her arms. She said, “I won’t work tonight. Jack, do you want me to tell you a bedtime story?”

He nodded and said, “Okay, mommy, what is the story?”

“Well, let me think about it. I’ll tell you…”

“Once upon a time...”

*

The next day.

In the hospital.

When Annie sent porridge to Kennedy, she found that he had gotten all his things packed and he was about to put on his shoes.

“What are you doing?” Her face suddenly changed. Then she came to put porridge on the table.

Kennedy raised his eyes and glanced at her. He replied, “You’ve seen it.”

“Do you want to discharge yourself from the hospital?” Annie asked, “Have you finished your discharging formalities?”

At this time, Nathan, who had finished the discharge formalities, came back to the ward. When he saw Annie, he greeted her respectfully: “Miss Porter.”

Annie turned to look back at him and asked, “Did you go to go through the discharge formalities?”

Nathan paused, then he nodded and said, “Mr. Moore said he was fine, so I…”

“Then you believe his words?” Annie grabbed the medical document in his hand, and then stared at Kennedy. “Why do you decide it all by yourself? You just had a car accident. You can’t discharge from the hospital now.

Then Kennedy frowned unhappily and said coldly, “Even if it was a car accident, I was not seriously injured. It was an ordinary injury. I’m fine now.”

Annie was speechless.

“Well, since you are so stubborn, I’ll arrange some girls to meet you. I’ve told you that I will introduce some girls to you when you discharge from the hospital. Now you are in such a hurry, so you want to meet those girls, right?”

Kennedy narrowed his eyes and he looked grim.

“I don’t want to meet them.”

Annie just sneered and then took out her phone. She went out to make a phone call. Kennedy looked at her back helplessly and didn’t say anything.

Annie could do what she wanted to do. But he wouldn’t go to meet the girls that she arranged for him. He didn’t care about them at all.

Kennedy got up and buttoned up his coat. Then he said coldly, “Let’s go back to company now.”

Nathan nodded and followed him.

When they just walked to the door of the ward, Annie blocked their way and said, “Where are you going? You can’t go anywhere without my orders.”

Kennedy became cold. He pursed his lips and stood still.

“Kennedy, I don’t mind that you won’t follow my words. But if you don’t promise me to meet those girls, I’ll die and tell this thing to your mother when I meet her in heaven.”

Kennedy didn’t say anything.

So did Nathan.

He swallowed and stammered, “Miss Porter, you don’t need to be so serious. Mr. More has a strong body. He’ll be fine even if he discharges from the hospital in advance.”

“You don’t need to say anything now.” Annie looked at Nathan and said, “He has a strong body. But he is not a robot. He needs to take a good rest. Patients shouldn’t work immediately without rest when they just recover. He is overconfident in his body.”

Nathan said, “Miss Porter, I...”

“Shut up. It has nothing to do with you. Now you can take a day off. Just go back to rest.”

Hearing her words, Nathan became happy and he asked, “Really?”

However, he soon felt that Kennedy was staring at him coldly. He trembled and then stood straight instantly.

“No. If I don’t go to work today, I won’t have my annual bonus.”

“Is it?” Annie squinted at Kennedy. She said, “If he doesn’t give you the year-end bonus, I’ll give tripled money to compensate your loss.”

After that, Nathan’s eyes wide opened and he replied, “Miss Porter, I…”

“You can go on your vacation now.”

Before Nathan could speak again, Annie grabbed his arm and pushed him out of the ward.

There were only Kennedy and Annie left in the ward at this time.

Annie stood at the door and blocked his way.

After for a long time, Kennedy returned to the bed.

He said coldly, “I can stay here for one more week. Don’t arrange those girls to meet me.”

“Haha, I won’t promise you, even if you choose to stay here for a month.”

Annie sneered and closed the door. Then she walked into the ward.

“I have contacted a girl. She said that she could meet you in the afternoon. Kennedy, it’s not joking. I’m serious. You’d better meet her today, otherwise, I’ll die to meet your mother in heaven.”

Kennedy said, “Annie, why do you force me to bend to your will?”

“I’m not forcing you. It’s time for you to have a family. You have been single over the years. I’m your aunt. I want to find a girl to take care of you.”
