Second Marriage novel Chapter 221

“What’s the matter? Why does Mrs. Moore go into the kitchen to wash the dishes?”

“Reynold told her.”

“Really? Her friend is still here. Mr. Reynold is nice to her friend. He has been smiling, he never did that to anyone before.”

“What? Do you think Mr. Reynold doesn’t like Mrs. Moore, so he wants to find a new wife for Mr. Kennedy?”

These words fell to Charlotte’s ear. She froze and a plate slipped out from her hand, falling into the ground with a bang.

The servants looked at each other, and then whispered.

“Stop, Mrs. Moore will be angry. Have you forgotten what happened last time?”

“Let’s go, let’s go.”

A group of people hurried out of the kitchen.

So Charlotte was left alone in the kitchen. She stood in front of the basin and felt bitter looking at the dishes.

Didn’t Reynold want to set up Diana with Manfred? Why they thought of Kennedy?

Besides, whether it was Kennedy or Manfred, it was up to Diana.

What was she thinking?

Charlotte suddenly came back to her sense and then bent down to pick up the debris on the ground.

A tall figure stepped forward and took hold of her tender fingers before her hands touched the debris, and said with a steady voice.

“Don’t touch it.”

Hearing the familiar voice, Charlotte raised her head and saw his gentle eyes.

“Manfred?”

Why was Manfred here?

“Keep your hands off. The debris is too sharp and may hurt you.”

While speaking, Manfred held her and helped her up.

Charlotte was stunned for a few seconds, and then pulled back her hand. Manfred turned to take a broom, swept together the debris on the ground, and then poured into the trash can.

In any case, his actions were well-meaning. Charlotte could not get angry with him and could only nod at him. “Thank you, Manfred.”

Then she turned on the faucet to wash the debris off the dishes.

“Don’t do it.” Manfred stepped over to turn off the faucet, frowning, “Let the servant do it, go upstairs.”

“But...” Reynold had made her do it. If she hadn’t done it, would she be...

“Grandpa just said it casually, and he won’t really come to see if you washed it. You needn’t stay here. Go upstairs.”

After thinking about it, Charlotte shook her head and said, “Well, it’s not a big deal to me.”

Charlotte turned on the faucet again. Her movements were actually very skilled. She had done a lot of these things before, but she seldom did them after she got married to the Moore family. So it was not hard for her.

Seeing her familiar movement, Manfred felt distressed.

“Don’t you feel wronged?”

Charlotte was stunned for a moment and then smiled faintly, “It is not a big deal. I used to do all these things before. Manfred, just leave it to me. You can go out.”

But he did not move at all, and had no intention of leaving.

After a moment, Manfred walked to her side, “Well, since you want to do it, I’ll help you.”

Manfred directly stretched out his hand to help. Charlotte was stunned, looking at him, “Manfred…”

“Charlotte, I know it’s impossible for you to accept me for a moment, but I’m willing to wait. Whatever you think now, I just want you to remember that I don’t have any other thoughts for you, except my undivided love. If you want, I can protect you. Even if the whole world scolds me at last, you can also hide behind me.”

“Manfred!” Charlotte interrupted him and said seriously, “Don’t say any more of these words. I don’t want to hear them again.”

“Charlotte......” Manfred looked at her with a painful expression, “Do you hate me?”

“No...I don’t hate you, but... you are Kennedy’s brother, even if... I will not be with Kennedy in the future, I can’t be with you.”

At this point, Charlotte thought he could understand her.

She wanted to continue to wash the dishes, but Manfred had been staying here, so she could not stay and could only say, “If you want to wash then, I will leave first.”

Charlotte directly turned to go out. Manfred felt nervous and stopped her way.

“Charlotte, can’t you give me another chance?”

“No, Manfred.” Charlotte shook her head and was to leave, passing by him. Manfred took her wrist, “Even if Kennedy doesn’t like you, you also have to act humbly?”

Charlotte’s movement paused. A moment later, she shook off his hands and said softly, “How about you? What you’re doing right now is the same as mine. And you are worse than I am.”

Hearing that, Manfred raised self-mockery in his moist eyes. He showed a bitter smile, “Isn’t that better? It shows that we are the same kind of people, and if you agree, we three will not suffer.”

“I gotta go!” Charlotte didn’t want to talk to him anymore, so she left the kitchen directly.

She went to the bathroom and washed her hands. Then she turned and went upstairs. Charlotte went straight to the room and when she was to open the door, she found the door was ajar.

While she was still wondering, she heard a soft female voice coming from inside.

“Mr. Kennedy, let go of me.”

This was...

Diana’s voice?

Charlotte’s complexion changed. Through the crack of the door, she saw Kennedy holding the wrist of Diana and looking at her with a dignified face.

Diana obviously wanted to take her hand back, but she was not as forceful as him.

Charlotte almost rushed in, but her feet, however, felt as if they were heave and were unable to move a little bit.

What’s wrong with her? She herself did not know. Before knowing what they said, Charlotte turned to leave directly. She went downstairs and arrived at a corner of the garden. And then she gradually calmed down.

What was she doing? Why didn’t she go to stop them but turned to run away?

What was the matter with her?

Charlotte felt that her brain was in a state of crash.

While Diana said with red eyes, “Mr. Kennedy, I really can’t tell you, please let go of me.”

Kennedy was malicious, “You had better give me an explanation, otherwise...”
