Sinful Mates 1-3 novel Chapter 193

  Thaddeus POV

"Why isn't she answering?" I growl for the hundredth time as I get her voicemail.

"She will be fine, she just needs to calm down," Ryland says, placing Mara in her chair to eat her dinner.

"It's been hours, Ryland," I tell him, putting Mara's plate in front of her.

"I will go find her," Orion says, grabbing his jacket from behind the front door and putting it on. Mara picks up a piece of broccoli before viciously biting the head off making a dinosaur chomping noise as she devours the chunk.

"I will go with you" I tell him about to go grab a jacket when Ryland walks over to Orion.

"Stay with Mara, I will go with him. She still likes me sorta" he says, grabbing my jacket and putting it on.

"Just find her and bring her home, I don't care if you have to drag her home kicking and screaming, just bring her back" I tell them before leaning down and cutting Mara’s sausage into pieces for her. She makes the chomping noise before biting my hand and I jerk my hand back.

"When did you guys give her blood last?" I ask, looking down at her, four little white fangs popping down from her top lip and four little holes in the back of my hand where she bit me.

"Two days ago?" Ryland says looking at Orion who nods. Ryland walked over to her.

"You hungry baby?" He says kissing her head before biting his wrist and placing it in front of her face. She sniffs the air before grabbing his wrist and sinking her fangs into him.

Ryland hisses,"So sharp like needle points" he says waiting for her to finish before pulling his wrist away and rubbing it with his thumb.

Mara goes back to chomping her broccoli's with viscous chewing noises making me chuckle and shake my head at her.

Ryland kisses my cheek. "Be back soon" he says and I nod, turning around sitting next Mara and eating my own dinner.

When she is done, I make her a bottle only to find she has bitten all the teats off them. Hunting through the cupboards I found one last teat. I make her bottle and hand it to her before pulling it back when I see her fangs pop out.

"Ah ah no biting it, it's the last one. Chew through it and no more bot bots" I tell her as she reaches for it.

I give it to her and roll my eyes when she starts chewing on it ignoring what I said. I picked her up before walking into the living room with her. Placing her down she runs to her cubby house in the corner of the living room.

I sat watching her flicking through channels worried about Evelyn. Time slips by as I become consumed with my thoughts.

"Daddy, where is mummy?" I hear Mara's little voice jolting me back to my surroundings. She climbs in my lap before snuggling into the crook of my arm, trying to pull her blanket from the cubby onto the couch.

I pull it up, draping it over her and tucking it around her.

"Is mummy in trouble because the bad man tricked her?" she asks and I look down at her.

"What bad man?" I ask her.

"The one from dreams, the one that made the house go boom?" She says peering up at me. Goosebumps rise on my arms at her words. The way she peered up at me with her glowing eyes, full of so much knowledge on her adorable face, the way she always spoke clearly despite being 18 months old, though tribrid’s grew at faster rate so she more resembled a three year old, it was still eerie to see.

"You saw a bad man?" I ask, trying to find out what she saw.

"Yep he's Laura's boyfriend, he won't give aunty back" she says tugging her blanket up and yawning as her eyes close.

"Mara?" I ask her. I rub her arm gently. Her little eyes flutter open.

"Can daddy see your dreams?" I ask her and she nods sleepily before closing her eyes and drifting off.

My heart was pounding in my chest as I waited for her to fall asleep.

"Mara," I whisper after a while to see if she is asleep. Placing my hand on her temple, I close my eyes. Instead of forcing my way in her head, I feel for her energy. Rifling through could wake her or startle her. Evelyn always said it felt like fingers flicking through files in her head when I did to her, she hated the feel of it and I didn't want to scare her so instead I watched her dreams as they played out instead flicking through looking for her memories.

Her dreams were colourful, our faces appearing in her sleep, my mother even just things she overheard, listening when we didn't think she was listening.

For the most part I saw nothing, for hours nothing came, just what her little mind conjured up. Hours pass when I saw the images swirling and morphing into images of nightmares. The explosion but from her eyes, watching our house burn and I almost shoved myself out not wanting to witness it again. Then the pictures flickered and I saw Laura talking to a man with his back to her, looking over paperwork at a desk. Talking about drugging Evelyn. Before the image flickers again, I could see her dreams morph before I am facing a cell. At first I didn't understand what I was looking at, until I saw something move in the darkened corner before falling forward. Slumping on the ground her gaunt face peering out between the bars as footsteps approach.

"Wakey wakey, time to get up. I brought you a present" says a males voice the same male voice speaking to Laura. She crawls forward and the man places a medicine cup of blood on the ground, sliding it between the bars. A frail hand snatching and I realise who it is, recognise her face as it clears slightly her stone like features softening slightly, Bianca.

I jolted out of her head my breathing coming in panicked breaths as I tried to catch my breath. Light was shining in the windows and I realised I had been in her head all night. I tried to make sense of what I saw.

Amara was right, something had happened to her and we had been so caught up with our own lives, I didn't realise how badly she needed us, how much she was suffering. Convinced she was just hiding out somewhere.
