Speed Candles novel Chapter 44

The next afternoon, she rushed to the hospital after work to take care of Maisie. When she went back, it was almost ten o’clock.

Recently she got used to living in her apartment and rarely returned to the Morris mansion.

She was used to looking around when she walked alone at night, even when many people coming and going.

Someone unexpected really appeared there. As soon as she arrived at the gate of the apartment, she saw a figure standing under a tree with a flickering red dot.

Seeing her enter the community, that person also followed in. It should be a man at least 5’10’’, dressed in all black.

She was nervous, and whether the man was following her or not, she had to test him, for fear that something dangerous would happen.

She deliberately went to the crowded place and walked another way. It was not until she found that that man disappeared that she felt at ease.

But when she reached the place with few people, the man appeared in a flash. She could choose the road just now, but now, she must pass this road to get to her apartment. Besides, she had already walked halfway, and couldn’t turn back, but she still dared not rush forward.

If she couldn’t run faster than that man, she would bite the hook and be caught by him.

Emily was so scared that she just wanted to run straight away. But when she looked back, she knew very well that she couldn’t run faster than that man. Just now, she took a glance at him and found he must be good at running.

What happened yesterday really made her terrified. Today she met this man. The god of destiny was definitely making fool of her.

“I’ve really had bad luck or whom else have I offended?”

She muttered to herself.

The more she moved forward, the more nervous she was, and her heart was thumping extremely fast.

It’s said that good deeds were blessed by God, but she hadn’t done anything bad...It was Dorothy who deserved to be punished.

When Emily got to the elevator, she felt herself on the verge of total derangement.

Walking into the elevator, she looked back and found that there was no suspicious man behind her except for some pedestrians.

Luckily, nothing dangerous had happened. After a false alarm, she had the illusion of escaping from death. It was exciting and nervous, just like what happened in a Hollywood movie.

When she got to the door of her apartment, she took the key to open the door. Because of her weak vigilance there, she saw a black figure flash into the room just as she entered in, “Hey…who are you...”

When the figure flashed in, she didn’t know what to do. She immediately wanted to get out of the door, but it was too late. He quickly pulled her in, and then the door slammed beside her ear.

Then the back of her head hit the hard door, which hurt badly. But when people were in danger, they would make a lot of unconscious actions. Emily acted faster than consciousness. She raised her hand to push that man and pulled the door directly.

The bag in her hand fell on the floor, and her hand was controlled by that man the moment when she reached out.

There was no light in the room, even though her eyes were wide open, she couldn’t see anything in the dark and the face of the man in front of her.

When she felt frightened, she couldn’t control her mouth at all. She just bit that man at will, and said with her stammering voice, “Who are you?”

The man didn’t say anything. He didn’t let go of her hand, and didn’t make any further action until a second later, she said again in fear, “I don’t know you. Why do you want to hurt me?”

He bent down to approach her. Feeling the breath from that man, Emily could only think about the look of the criminals in the gangster dramas. She was extremely afraid and was going to kick up with her foot.

The man seemed to have expected that when she was about to lift her feet. He pressed her with his strong and slender legs, almost all of her body against the door.

Emily could do nothing but say in a weeping accent, “If you dare to do anything to me, I will bite my tongue and kill myself.”

He turned a deaf ear to her, and still didn’t say anything. She could feel that he was breathing heavily and his soft short hair sweeping her side skin.

She couldn’t move her body. Just as she was about to shout for help, a strong force pressed against her lips.

Emily was familiar with the smell, which could not be wrong. Then she could react, turn her head away from his lips, and shouted at him, “Sebastian, is that you?”

It sounded that Emily grasped a life-saving straw. She felt herself was a survivor of a disaster.

Suddenly he let go of her hands, and pulled her into his arms.

Emily buried her face in his neck, and she could smell his breath. In fact, she could basically recognize that this person was Sebastian. It was just that she was too scared just now.

So, she tried her best to raise her head and asked angrily, “Tell me. Is that you?”

If he still didn’t say anything, no matter whether he was Sebastian or not, she would hit his head. If he were Sebastian, she would give vent to her anger; if not, she would get rid of an evil for good.

Four seconds later, his voice sounded with the sense of mocking, “If I say no, are you trying to give up resistance, or bite your tongue to kill yourself?”

Emily was relieved at last. She suddenly acted like a wild cat coming out of a cage. Her eyes were red because of anger and she scratched her chest a dozen times.

That really hurt.

Sebastian straightened his back, hugged her in his arms and held her face in the dark. They were so close to each other.

Emily was still angry and scared, “What do you mean by doing this?”

It was a false alarm again.

Sebastian said in an almost sarcastic tone, “I’m not here, so you look for Oskar. I should have made you feel more scared.”

Speaking of this, he suddenly stopped. Emily knew what he was going to say, and said for him, “You little bitch.”

He squinted and gently asked her, “Aren’t you?”

She also didn’t know what was wrong. She always felt that she had strong willpower and wanted to take revenge by making use of this man, but at that moment she just wanted to cry.
