Sweet Love novel Chapter 25

Everyone is shocked. Familiar with Yusef, they know exactly how cold and heartless he is.

However, today Sherry really drinks so much that she doesn’t care about anything now.

"What's wrong with my question, Mr. Penn? Everyone knows the answer, without doubt."

Yusef’s face darkens, with the last patience suppressing the fire.

Amanda finally realizes the current situation is very awkward. Holding her hands, Amanda manages to dissuade Sherry, "Well, I think you get drunk now. Let's stop talking..."

Sherry shakes off her restraining hand, "Stop talking about what? I am just telling the truth. Macy looked down on everyone before, now that the Downey’s goes bankrupt, why do I still need to keep silent?"

Trembling, Macy takes a deep breath. Before the Downey’s declined, she was always the most favored. Although it is not as exaggerated as Sherry described, she was not really close to anyone. Others might think Macy was a little indifferent, but she didn’t expect that she would impress people as an arrogant image.

"That’s all?" The man interrupts abruptly.

"Well, Mr. Penn has determined to protect her? I knew the bitch always…"

Before she finishes speaking, Yusef directly picks up a random wine glass, handing it to Macy, "Splash it back."

Sherry's voice comes to a sudden halt. Tipping her a wink, Amanda tugs her again and then she gradually sobers up.

She thought that Macy was just his temporary playmate, who could be lampooned by everyone, but unexpectedly, Yusef even lets Macy splash her with wine now.

Sherry turns white and begins to stammer, "How...how dare you!"

Ignoring what she says, Yusef still stares at the girl beside him, "It’s up to you, Macy."

Macy reaches out for the glass of wine and looks at it, hesitating.

Everyone here feels the heavy, brooding silence descends on them. Some individuals want to act as a mediator, but as long as seeing Yusef's face, they immediately bit back the words they would like to have said.

In this embarrassing situation, Monte could only come forward with hollow laugh, "Yusef..."

"Shut up." Yusef gives him a firm refusal.

Monte realizes that Yusef has taken it seriously, so he no longer persuades them in vain.

With a sort of guilty haste, Sherry looks at her boyfriend sitting on the sofa behind her, "Chris..."

The man named Chris is not as reckless as Sherry. He knows that Yusef is a man he cannot afford to offend. Even if his family is kind of rich, it’s not enough to fight against Yusef. Besides, he is not the person leading to trouble, and he doesn’t need to destroy the relationship with Yusef for a short-term girlfriend.

Looking away, Chris smiles, " Mr. Penn, Sherry and I have broken up. You can do whatever you want, so don't worry about me."

His purpose is obvious.

Sherry’s face pales with disappointment, "You…"

All of a sudden, Sherry feels the coolness on her face. Opening her mouth to breathe and reaching out to wipe the liquid on her face, she glares at Yusef and Macy in front of her.

Macy lightly puts the empty glass aside, wrinkling her brows in concentration.

Yusef puts his arm around Macy's shoulders and draws her close to him, "Sherry, take care of your mouth from now on, otherwise it will not be as simple as a glass of wine."

He then directly turns around, ignoring the embarrassment of Sherry.

Macy's hands, however, are still clenching together, while her nails press into her palms, leaving a row of pale crescents. After they walk side by side to the corner of the stairs, Macy gently pushes away the man right away.

Perceiving her deliberate alienation, Yusef raises his eyebrows slightly, "What’s wrong?"

"Yusef, I don't expect the situation deteriorates to the present state, which makes everyone unhappy."

The previous excellent family taught her how to raise her head and chest with full of confidence, but now the failure she experienced also taught her how to act in a low-key manner.

Since the accident of the Downey’s, Macy has learned to be patient. Of course, Yusef is not afraid of them considering his power can crush all of them, but she can't. Without Yusef's refuge, she might be trampled by anyone.

In addition, she knows that she couldn’t always rely on Yusef, nor could she live under his protection for life. Therefore, the individuals who are offended by her now may become her enemy, and they will deal her a heavy blow in the future.

Yusef doesn’t expect Macy to say this. Staring at the woman for a few seconds, he asks her coldly, "Could you tell me what you are going to do if I don't show up? Flee or endure? Do you think they will not bully you when you meet them next time?"

Speechless, Macy bites her lower lip.

"Macy, where is your courage?" Yusef gradually approaches Macy.

Unconsciously exerting her strength, Macy instantly feels the taste of blood in her mouth.

In the next second, Macy’s jaw is pinched by a powerful hand. She is forced to stare at the man.

The coldness in his eyes frightens her, "In this society, if you don’t want to be humiliated, you will have two options. One is to walk away and be a deserter, while the other is to be powerful enough, achieving a position that can humiliate others. You should know that there is always one party that will be suppressed, but why do you think you belong to that kind of party from the beginning?"

"Macy, people can't lose their last guts. If you believe escaping can solve everything, I think you should stop assisting me in doing anything."

Loosening his hand, Yusef gives her a meaningful look. "Don't work at the Penn’s anymore unless you understand what it means."

He then walks out mercilessly.

Macy looks at the man's back, gasping for breath. Soon, the figure disappears, but his voice is still hovering over her ears.

"Why do you identify yourself as the suppressed party from the beginning?"

"Why?"

"..."

Yeah, why does she fail to overcome her weakness after the Downey's bankruptcy?

Why can't she gradually improve herself via her own ability?

This night, a seed is planted in Macy's heart, secretly taking root and sprouting.
