Take Me Away novel Chapter 63

There were several helicopters flying over Gingko Road. They circled in the air for a long time before slowly descending to the ground.

The wind from the helicopters made Spencer's and Celine's clothes flutter in the air.

The cabin door of the nearest helicopter flew open, revealing Eric, who threw down a rope. Biting his lip,

Spencer strode forward.

"Spencer, wait!" Celine suddenly grabbed his arm. "Even if Fiona's in trouble, you don't have to go there in person, do you? Don't you know who you are? You can't afford to put yourself in danger. You just need to command from the rear."

"Do you think that something will happen to me?" Spencer asked, turning to face her.

"It's not that I don't trust you. I just—"

Before Celine could finish her sentence, she was interrupted by Spencer. "If I can't even save my woman, I'm not a man and I don't deserve my status." After saying that, he grabbed the rope and climbed up nimbly. When he reached the door, Eric held out his arm and pulled him into the cabin. Then, the door shut and the helicopter took off.

'My woman...' Spencer's words kept echoing in Celine's head as she blankly watched him leave.

As the roar of the helicopter became softer and softer, she closed her eyes mournfully, feeling like there was a hole in her chest where her heart had been.

In the cockpit of the helicopter, Spencer sat tapping his foot impatiently on the floor. He had never felt this anxious and worried for someone else before. He felt like his heart had been wrenched out of his chest and put on a frying pan.

"Spencer, what happened? Where are we going?" Eric asked cautiously.

Spencer pocketed his walkie-talkie and replied, "Fiona's in trouble. It seems that she went missing at Maple Mountain."

"Went missing?" Eric was shocked. Looking at the glum look on Spencer's face, he quickly said, "I'll go and confirm her position."

"Yes."

At the scenic area of Maple Mountain, Sophia and a group of students were anxiously waiting for the police.

The sun was setting, shrouding the mountain in darkness and intensifying Sophia's worries. 'Fiona, where are you?' she wondered helplessly.

At that time,

she heard a loud noise coming from the skies. "Look! A helicopter!"

Everyone looked up and found not just one helicopter, but five or six circling above their heads.

"It's so windy! Move! Move!"

"Who are they? Did they come here to rescue Fiona?"

"Wait for me here. I'll go down and have a look," Spencer said in a low voice.

"Yes, sir!"

As the helicopter descended, the cabin door opened and a rope was thrown down. The group of students stared blankly ahead as a handsome man jumped out and climbed down the rope. When he touched the ground and turned around, everyone's jaw fell open in surprise.

"Mr. Cheng!"

"Oh, my God!

It's Mr. Cheng!"

Without paying attention to the whispers around him, Spencer strode towards Sophia. His aggressive demeanor made everyone watching him freeze in fear. He asked, "Where did Fiona go missing?"

Sophia walked up to him with red eyes and choked out, "We were halfway through the trek when Fiona said that she couldn't walk any longer, so I hiked up the mountain by myself. But even hours later in the afternoon, she still didn't come up..."

Spencer tried to calm himself down, but his white knuckles betrayed his fury. "Take me to the place where you got separated."

"Okay!" Sophia nodded immediately and ran down the mountain with Spencer.

"Hey! Spencer!" Eric shouted over the intercom. "Where are you going?"

"I'm going down the mountain. You scout over the mountain for Fiona. Report to me immediately when you find her. You have to find her!"

"Yes, sir!"

"Mr. Cheng, will Fiona be okay?" Sophia asked worriedly as she walked. "We searched everywhere along the mountain road but we still couldn't find her. Nobody has seen her since the time we got separated. The locals said she might have fallen into the valley in the north..."

"Why are you crying? Shut up!" Spencer was already anxious about Fiona and couldn't help yelling.

Frightened by his voice, Sophia stopped talking right away and hurried down the mountain with him.

Soon, they came to the place where Sophia and Fiona had separated. Sophia looked around and said in a trembling voice, "This is the place where we separated."

Spencer pursed his lips and furrowed his eyebrows. He paced around to look for some clues around the stone steps. Suddenly, he saw a path up the bushes. He had a bad feeling and rushed over.

"Mr. Cheng!" Sophia followed, fiddling with the leaves of the maple trees near the path. "Did you find something?"

Without saying a word, Spencer kept walking and reached a plateau. Suddenly, he noticed footprints on the ground and the traces of friction on the area at the edge of the cliff. His heart tightened and he mumbled, "Fiona..."

"This is..." Sophia trailed off in fear.

"I'll go find her," he said coldly. Before Sophia could say anything, she saw him jumping down the hill nimbly, and his tall figure disappeared into the dense forest.

In the valley, Fiona subconsciously kept herself as small as possible by pressing her arms to the sides of her body and quietly backed away. She had been staring at a menacing pair of green eyes for a long time. She couldn't run away because of the pain in her ankle, and besides, her body was almost numb. What made her even more uneasy was that the sky was too dark for her to see anything.

Just then,

a huge rumble suddenly came from above her head. A helicopter almost brushed against the ground, blowing many leaves aside.

Suddenly, something occurred to Fiona. 'Is someone coming to save me?' she wondered. 'Who could it be? Is it Spencer?'

"Hey! I'm here!" Fiona raised her hands excitedly.

As soon as she yelled, the creature with the green eyes leaped out of the bushes

and barked wildly at Fiona. She turned around and saw a huge dog slowly pacing towards her. When it stretched open its large mouth, sticky saliva and a hint of blood flowed down from it.

"No, don't come over..." Clutching her clothes, Fiona began sobbing.

Helicopters were soaring overhead. Feeling threatened,

the giant dog turned its head, craned its neck, and roared. Then, it suddenly rushed toward the helicopter.

As soon as the dog ran away, Fiona ignored the pain in her ankle and desperately tried to run away. She dragged her legs and trudged forward with all her strength. The fear in her heart became stronger and stronger. She was all alone in the pitch black bottom of the valley. She felt that the endless darkness behind her was going to swallow her like a monster. She had no choice but to desperately try to escape.
