Take Me Away novel Chapter 97

When morning broke, it was obvious that it had already stopped snowing. Still, the weather hadn't cleared up yet. The skies were cloudy signaling another snowfall.

Following behind Spencer was a group of soldiers who all looked determined and loyal to their superior.

"Mr. Cheng!"

"Mr. Cheng!"

Everyone dropped whatever they were doing to salute to Spencer as he passed by them.

"Good morning," he greeted.

"Good morning,

sir." After a few steps, a soldier ran up to him, stopped, bowed to him and asked, "Shall we clear away the snowman in the shooting range?"

'Snowman?' He looked towards the shooting range and saw the snowman made by him and Fiona. As he recalled yesterday's memories, he smiled and said, "Let it be."

"Yes, sir!"

After Spencer finished speaking, he headed towards the meeting room.

Outside the conference room,

it didn't take long

for the people of P City to arrive after Spencer did.

Just then, Eric approached them and said, "Come in, please!"

"Sit down, please!" Spencer gestured to the chairs in front of him. "I hope you rested well last night."

"Thank you. We did rest well!" They all kept the smiles on their faces as they sat across from Spencer.

George nodded and commented, "Much better than the conditions in our base."

The people behind him also took their respective seats.

"The conditions of P City are much worse than what we have here," Spencer said. "Thank you all for your hard work!"

"You're welcome, Spencer. We'll be happy as long as we accomplish our task!" Leo said. "It's just that the terrorist group named X has been causing problems for us."

"I heard that you've taken over the mission regarding X. That makes us feel much more confident," George echoed. "With your help, we can get rid of it."

"We need your help too," Spencer said. "This isn't going to be easy. For now, what we can do is continue gathering more information about them and stop them from commit crimes."

"Last time at the airport, you had a conflict with some of the members of the group. I don't know what happened then. Could you fill us in?" George asked.

"None of them survived." A look of regret and anger flickered in Spencer's eyes. "They were crazy and out of their minds. Some of them were shot, while the others killed themselves. It was my fault."

"You don't have to blame yourself." Leo waved his hand . "They said you saved more than ten tourists who were kidnapped by them. No one was injured or dead. That wasn't an easy task."

"They have a tendency to create panic and disorder. How arrogant they are!" A trace of indignation was shown on George's face. "It's just that they are not in our country and we could only watch them and do nothing."

Spencer frowned and asked, "I heard they have a laboratory that specializes in developing new drugs. I wonder if they're planning to sell them in the market."

"Not yet." Leo shook his head. "We discovered a batch of drugs from them and we confirmed that they're all illegal drugs."

"We found some of the drugs that they were planning to drop off at the airport," Spencer said. Then he turned to Eric and ordered, "Tell them the details."

"Yes, sir!" Holding the documents in his hands, Eric began, "I have some information on those drugs. They have never been seen in the market before. They contain a substance which could cause excitement to whoever is taking them. We ran some tests and found that they are strong and have long-term effects. They're colorless and odorless as they easily dissolve in water. They can be pretty hard to detect. We still don't know what could happen once they start circulating in the market."

As soon as Eric finished speaking, Spencer added, "The transaction took place at the airport of M City. The person who transacted with the group is not a native, so we still don't know what their purpose is. For the meantime, we have to be alert."

Leo nodded. "It's hard to track their movements since they're not in the country. Catching them won't be an easy task. They have such strong security that up until now, we still haven't been able to enter their headquarters."

Spencer squinted his eyes, seemingly confident. "No matter how hard this is, we'll find a way to get in." 'How dare they threaten me!'

"Spencer, what's your next plan of action?" Leo asked.

"I think that..." As Spencer shared his idea with the others, they all nodded in agreement.

After a long meeting, they finally wrapped up. Only then were they able to relax.

"Looks like we'll be hosting you in the P City soon, Spencer," Leo said with a smile.

"I hope you don't mind then," Spencer replied politely with a slight smile.

After a quick chat, he stood up and said, "It's getting late. Let's call it a day. What do you say?"

"Let's call it a day." Leo nodded and stood up. "We'll discuss the specifics in the afternoon."

"Okay, sounds good." Spencer nodded. Discussing a long-term solution wasn't going to be easy. He doubted if they would be able to reach an agreement in just a few days.

As they were talking, they walked out of the room. Suddenly, an idea came to Spencer. He said, "We're having the New Year's Gala tomorrow. It's also my birthday party. Why don't you two come and celebrate with us?"

"Yeah, that's right." Eric nodded his head. "Since you're going to be here for the new year and you won't be able to go home, why don't you join us at the party? It can also be our way of compensating you for sacrificing your holidays."

"Ha-ha! Thank you for inviting me!" Leo smiled. "But you guys are all young. I won't fit in. I'm too old and I don't want to ruin the fun for you young ones. George can come!"

"Leo, you should come too. We just want to have fun. Age or rank shouldn't matter! I'm holding the party for the sake of the festival anyway," Spencer added.

"Yes," Eric chimed in. "Mrs. Cheng is going to play the piano at the party. Did you know she's an excellent pianist?"

Just as Eric was chattering away, Spencer suddenly kicked him in the leg. "Cut the crap!"

At the sight of this, George smiled faintly. "Since Mrs. Cheng is going to perform, I should go and have a look."
