Take Me Away novel Chapter 100

Meanwhile, in the CEO's office of ZR Company, Charles sat in his chair, facing the window. His gaze was far off as he tightly gripped his phone.

It had been a while since he sent the message but he still hadn't received a reply. He knew that Fiona and Spencer were probably together in his workplace and that Celine was also with them. But for some reason, he chose to send the message to Fiona, hoping this would upset Spencer more or less.

'This is bad. I've never felt this before but I don't hate it,' he thought to himself.

Suddenly, his phone started ringing.

Startled, he quickly glanced at his phone, an expectant look on his face. When he saw who was calling him, he couldn't help but feel a little disappointed and confused.

Why was Celine calling him?

"Hello?" Charles answered, his voice emotionless.

"How about I send Fiona to you as a gift?" she offered.

Charles frowned and then smiled ironically. "Do you think I'm that desperate? Do you think I want a married woman?"

"I thought you might be interested in her," she answered. "Then I guess I can just hand over Fiona to another man."

"Wow, Celine, you've got a lot of nerve!" Charles sounded disgusted. "Why would you do that to Fiona? Does Spencer even know about this? Trust me. He won't allow you to do that even if their marriage is just arranged!"

"Arranged? Ha-ha..." On the other end of the line, Celine put on a pitiful smile as she spoke. "If their marriage is just arranged, why would I need to come up with a plan to break them up?"

Charles froze. He shouldn't be surprised. He should have seen this coming especially after he saw Spencer kiss Fiona at the hospital that night. Spencer wasn't stupid. Of course, he would choose Fiona over Celine. But he didn't expect this day to come so soon!

"What did he say?" Charles asked.

"He said that he doesn't love me," she answered in a helpless voice. "He said that he wants to live a long and happy life with Fiona."

Charles turned and sat back in his chair. He picked up the file on his desk and threw it out. Seething, he let out a malicious laugh. "Who do you think you are, Celine? Do you think you are good enough for Spencer to wait six years for you without changing his mind? Need I mention that you weren't loyal to him in any way when you were in another country?"

There was a moment of silence on the other end of the line. After a long while, Celine broke the silence. In a timid voice, she asked, "Charles, do you still want me?"

"If you want to get laid, you can come to me. But I'm afraid you're not qualified to be my girlfriend," Charles said in a mocking tone.

Celine's mouth twitched in embarrassment, and she said dismissively, "Anyway, since you're not interested in Fiona, I have nothing else to say to you. I'm hanging up now."

"Wait!" Charles suddenly stopped her.

"What's wrong?"

"You said you would send Fiona to me." Charles emphasized the word "send" as he spoke, a faint smile on his face. "I wonder how you are going to send her to me. Do you have any ideas?"

"I'll figure it out!" Celine said firmly. "So are you interested or not?"

"Yes, I'm a little interested." Charles drummed his fingers on the desk. "I just realized that your proposal isn't too bad after all."

"Then let's wait and see. I'll hand Fiona over to you on a silver platter. You'd better ruin her reputation. I want you to destroy her!" Celine snorted.

Charles lifted the corners of his mouth and said, "Then I'll wait for you to come back."

"Okay."

After she hung up the phone, Celine smiled indignantly, her eyes gleaming. She didn't come back to disgrace herself. She just wanted to get Spencer back. How dare Fiona stand in her way? She wasn't going to let Fiona do this to her. After all, this was what she was best at—fooling people and playing games. 'Spencer said he doesn't love me, didn't he?' she thought to herself. 'It doesn't matter as long as I can marry him.'

Meanwhile, Charles dangerously narrowed his eyes after hanging up the phone. 'Spencer, you said that you wants to live a long and happy life with Fiona. I can easily take her away from you and let her live with me instead,' he thought to himself.

Concurrently, Fiona sat in the piano room, deep in thought. She was wondering if she could really be with Spencer if she was given the chance.

"Hey, what are you doing?" Spencer's voice came abruptly. Startled, Fiona almost jumped out of her chair.

"Are you all right?"

Clutching her chest, she turned her head only to find Spencer looking worried. "Why did you scare me?"

Spencer looked around the room before saying, "I was just playing with you! Were you scared?"

"No, I wasn't." Fiona turned around and looked up. She hadn't realized it was dusk already.

"Why weren't you playing the piano?" Spencer asked as he stepped forward.

"I...I was tired. I was just taking a rest after playing the piano."

"All right!" He nodded his head. "You can do whatever you want."

Fiona had an incredulous look on her face as she gazed at Spencer smiling. Hesitantly, she said, "How about you go back to your old self? You're always smiling and laughing. I'm not used to it."

The corners of his mouth twitched. He was trying to act seriously but failed miserably. "Oh my God! I'm sorry but I can only smile from now on. It's all your fault."

"Why are you blaming me again?" Fiona averted her gaze, a little upset. She dared not look into his eyes for a long time.

"Of course, it's your fault!" Spencer said cheerfully. He inched towards Fiona, his face so close to hers. "I know you know the answer."

"No, I don't!" Fiona insisted.

"Really? Should I explain it to you? Or do you want to hear what I said this afternoon again? Fiona, I'm saying you can't be with—"

"Stop it!" Blushing, she reached out her hand to cover his mouth to stop him from talking. "Why are you so shameless? Stop talking!"

Spencer winked and stared at her. What a beauty! Her bright eyes were hidden underneath her long eyelashes that flickered. She had a perfectly pointed nose and her lips were soft to the touch. As she moved, her soft hair danced along with her. If she were married to someone else, he would do everything in his power to get rid of him! Fortunately, Fiona was his wife. He was the only one allowed to enjoy her beauty.

"Don't say that again!" Fiona reminded, putting her hand down. However, Spencer suddenly grabbed her hand. He stroked her hand with his thumb as he said, "Let's go. We're having dinner together."

"Let go of me!" Fiona struggled.

"No, I won't let you go," he said, raising his head proudly. "I need to hold your hand."

"But..." Fiona stammered, frowning. "I don't want to go back." She couldn't handle the idea of going back to the apartment knowing that Celine was there.
