Take Me Away novel Chapter 128

After comforting Celine, Spencer let go of her and went to call the doctor. Celine was left with Fiona in the ward. As soon as she turned and saw Fiona, her expression darkened.

If it weren't for her, Celine wouldn't have gotten into trouble at all. It was because of her that she had ended up getting kidnapped and being raped by those two men.

The door to the ward suddenly clicked open.

As soon as she saw people enter, Celine calmed down and sweetened her bitter expression. Spencer walked in, followed by a few doctors.

"Please have a look at her condition and let me know if she's okay." Spencer pointed to Celine, and a few doctors came over to assess her condition.

Fiona, who was lying down with her eyes closed, suddenly felt a burning gaze on her. With a frown, she opened her eyes slowly and saw Spencer staring at her. He was gazing at her in worry. When he saw her open her eyes, he went over to her and grabbed her hand. "Fiona, you're awake? How are you feeling now?"

Fiona felt a lump in her throat as she recalled the time when Spencer had secretly met her at the clothing store in T Country. That was the most beautiful thing she'd experienced during her entire lifetime, and it had made her realize that he was the most handsome man in the world. She had been ecstatic that he was hers. But why had he abandoned her to save Celine?

"Fiona? Tell me, are you all right?" Spencer raised his eyebrows and asked her again, concerned when he didn't get a reply from her.

"Ahem!" Suddenly, Celine coughed weakly and inquired the doctor, "Doctor, how am I doing?"

"You have recovered quite well. Just rest well for a few more days and you should be back on your feet in no time," the doctor answered.

Fiona glanced at Celine, but kept quiet. She stared at the ceiling in a haze.

"Why aren't you answering me, Fiona?" Feeling perturbed, Spencer gripped her hand more tightly.

"Mr. Cheng, let me check Mrs. Cheng's condition," the doctor requested, coming over to Fiona's bed.

"Fine." Spencer nodded but was unwilling to let go of her hand.

"I'm okay." Fiona opened her mouth and faintly mumbled those words. Her voice had turned unusually hoarse from all the crying the previous night.

"Examine her again and be sure!" Spencer ordered sternly.

The doctor nodded and began to do a simple routine examination for her while he asked her, "How do you feel, Mrs. Cheng?"

"I'm fine," Fiona replied casually.

"About last night..." The doctor wanted to ask her about last night but he didn't know how to phrase his question so as to avoid any awkwardness. He inquired her tentatively, "How are you now? Do you still feel any... impulse or desire?"

Fiona froze when she heard his words. It took her a moment to come back to her senses before she answered him, shaking her head, "No, not anymore." She had a faint memory of her being drugged, and she also remembered her body's burning desire for physical intimacy, but she wasn't sure if she'd taken any antidote.

"Did I take any antidote?" she asked, feeling shy.

"Yeah, you could say that!" The doctor glanced at Spencer. "Your antidote last night was your husband. I heard that he didn't stop pleasuring you until the sun shone bright in the sky.

You don't remember?" Upon hearing Fiona's words, Spencer felt like she had poked a hole through his pride. He turned around, unbuttoned the first few buttons of his shirt, and exposed his shoulder to her. "Look, these are the marks you left as a response to my skills last night!"

Celine was puzzled about what she was hearing, but when she saw what Spencer showed Fiona, her face became drained of blood as it became quite clear to her what they were talking about.

On the other hand, Fiona's face flushed a deep red, and she turned to the other side and said, "Spencer, don't be such an idiot! Stop it!"

"Ha-ha..." Spencer laughed as he buttoned his shirt, sat down next to her, and held her hand. "Hey, I'm just showing you the proof!"

The doctor looked at them and smiled. "Mrs. Cheng still has a fever and she just needs to rest for a while longer. It's nothing serious."

"That's great." Spencer nodded.

"If there is nothing else, we kindly ask you to excuse us."

"Sure, go ahead," Spencer replied with a curt nod.

"Wait, doctor!" Suddenly remembering something, Fiona quickly asked the doctor who was about to leave, "What about George? Is he all right?"

The doctor didn't say a word. Instead, he glanced at Spencer hesitantly.

"What happened to him?" Fiona questioned him again, knowing that something wasn't quite right. The doctor was a little nervous. Fiona was no fool. Seeing the doctor's response, she realized that George's must be in a sorry state.

"Don't worry, Fiona. He's fine!" Spencer said, trying to pacify her.

"Go away." The very next second, Fiona let go of Spencer's arms and sat upright as she held onto the doctor's gown. "Take me to him! I have to see him!"

"Calm down, Mrs. Cheng!" the doctor said.

Spencer became stiff for a second, but seeing her so worked up, he stood up and said, "I will take you to him, then."

Fiona suddenly met his gaze and nodded, her eyes brimming with tears.

Celine felt like an outsider although she was there in the same ward with them.

Spencer walked out of the ward with Fiona, followed by the doctors, when a nurse rushed out of the ICU into the corridor and screamed, "Mr. Ye is awake! Mr. Ye is finally awake!"

"George..." Fiona murmured as she rushed towards the ICU. Spencer followed anxiously, feeling a little nervous.

Several doctors stopped Fiona from entering the ICU and told her that she could only enter after they'd checked and made sure that George's condition was better. She couldn't do anything but agree.

Inside the ward, George slowly opened his eyes and saw the white ceiling and a doctor in a lab coat. He asked, "Where is Fiona? Is she fine?"

When Fiona heard that outside the ward, she covered her mouth as tears streamed down her face. Spencer wasn't willing to know that George cared about Fiona. So upon hearing George's words, he frowned. He just couldn't help but feel jealous of him. He didn't want any man caring about her or being affectionate towards her. Neither did he want her to care about nor shed tears for any other man but himself. But because of George's concern for her, Fiona was crying uncontrollably.

"Mrs. Cheng is all right," the doctor replied to George.

"And what about my body?" George looked at the doctor, worried.

"The bullet has been successfully removed," Dr. Xu, the chief surgeon who had performed the operation, replied.

"That's amazing." George nodded and waited for Dr. Xu to continue but he didn't say anything further. "And? Is there anything wrong with my body? When will I be able to walk?"

"Well..." Dr. Xu was stunned for a moment before he answered, "You need to stay under observation for a while longer before we can say anything."

George suddenly placed his hands on the bed and tried to sit upright.

"Mr. Ye, what are you doing?" A nurse rushed to his side and helped him sit up. The moment he sat up, George's eyes went wide with shock and he immediately put his hands on his legs. Then, he stared at the doctor and asked, "My legs... Why can't I feel them?"

"George, please, calm down. The bullet damaged your spine, which has affected the nerves in your legs," Dr. Xu explained. "It is normal for you to be paralyzed just for a short while. Don't worry, you'll be fine."

"Affected the nerves in my legs..." George whispered. Suddenly, he balled his hands into fists and punched his own legs before letting out a painful scream.

"George!" Several doctors tried to stop him.

"Get out of my way!" George roared, his eyes red with rage and sorrow. "Stay away from me!" Saying that, he punched his legs again, harder this time, but he still felt nothing, not even the slightest feeling.

He should have known earlier. There were only two possible outcomes from the spot where he was shot. He could either end up dead, or paralyzed for the rest of his life. However, when he heard the bad news about his condition, he found it hard to accept even for someone as calm and composed as him.

"Am I a cripple?" After calming down, he hung his head low in a way that no one could see his true feelings.

"George, there's no need to be so negative. The bullet didn't pierce the spine, so after therapy, you might still be able to walk..."

"It will be possible for me to walk?" Suddenly, George laughed at himself and shouted, "Get out, all of you!"

"But we haven't done your routine check-up yet..."

"I said get out!" George lost his temper in an instant and roared. He threw the pillow at the wall and pulled the needle off his hand. He looked like an angry wounded beast as he yelled, "Didn't you hear me? Get the hell out of here!" Dr. Xu frowned.

He signaled to the other doctors and they followed him out of the ward quietly. Inside the ward, George pushed all the things on his bedside cabinet to the floor in one swift movement.

Depressed, he growled in a low voice. He suddenly lifted the blanket and put his legs on the floor. Then, he propped his arms up with his bare hands. As he tried to stand up, his legs were completely devoid of strength. With a loud banging sound, George fell to the floor.

"George!" Fiona called out to him from outside the ICU but Spencer stopped her.

"Don't go in now!" Spencer couldn't bear to look at George in that state. "He surely doesn't want people to see him like this."

"George..." Fiona covered her mouth with both hands and sobbed quietly.

In the ICU, George was lying on the floor, and he smashed his fists on the floor. After a while, his body started trembling. At this moment, he looked completely powerless.

Inside an apartment near a university in B Country, a young man walked out of the bathroom after taking a shower. He picked up a necklace from the desk and wore it around his neck. As he traced his fingers over the dragon-shaped pendant, he couldn't help but miss a certain girl.

At that moment, his cellphone rang.

With a frown, he walked over to the table and picked up the phone.

"Ryan, when are you coming back? I have bad news! Your brother has committed a crime, and your father has been arrested! You'd better come home as soon as possible!"
