The Alpha novel Chapter 49

Scarlet's POV

He takes a step closer and places a hand on my knee as he begins to slide it up my thigh and under the sheer gown. I jerk my leg as I try to shake him off. His smile widens and he moves his fingers to lightly trace the tops of my breasts. His hands move down as he cups them, his thumb rubbing back and forth over the peaks. I buck and writhe as I try to get out of his reach, but thanks to my restraints I can't get far.

"I will never want you. I will never love you. Now release me," I demand again.

"Now that's where you're wrong," he murmurs as he leans toward my ear. His warm breath fans over my cheek and neck, causing goosebumps with his sinister tone. Then his teeth gently clamp down on my earlobe as he nips and nibbles at it before kissing along my neck. I clamp my eyes shut as I try to hold back the tears that are trying to escape. His lips move down my chest until a knock sounds at the door and I exhale in relief as he removes his lips from my skin. "Ah, our guest is here now, my Luna."

"I'm not your Luna! And there is nothing you can do or say that will ever make me change my mind."

He gives me a confident look which has me worried as a woman in a flowing black gown enters. Her raven's hair matches and her eyes are a deep, chocolate brown. Her features are sharp and her nose pointed as she looks down at me without showing any emotion. "Scarlet, this is Andromeda. She is with a coven that I have an alliance with. She is quite powerful and has a specialty with reworking the mate-bond. She can create it and take it away," Lucien says as the woman comes up alongside him. My eyes widen with realization. He plans on removing my bond with Ethan so that he can replace it with himself.

Andromeda comes up to me and places her cold, spindly fingers against my mark as she begins to chant quietly to herself. The area instantly starts to burn and I let out a wail as more tears fill my eyes. I can't let this happen. I won't. Determinedly, I fight against the pain, trying to come up with a plan of escape. I need to stop this. Immediately, it feels like something snaps within me. Power suddenly fills my core and spreads to my extremities like molten lava. My strength seems to be returning tenfold and my body is vibrating with the unrestrained energy. A bright light bursts through me, knocking both Lucien and the witch away.

Andromeda looks at me with a shocked expression for a second before Lucien yells, "What the hell was that?! Hurry! Finish the job!"

I force myself to focus on the energy swirling within me. I don't know what kind of power this is. I don't know where it came from, but I plan on taking full advantage of it. Focusing with all my might, another burst of light shoots through me, shattering the windows and my restraints. Immediately, I yank my limbs away from their bonds and leap from the bed while Lucien and the witch are still stunned and on their asses. I move to stand before them, still controlling the power that is desperately trying to break free from me. My mind quickly wades through my options on what I should do to them for their treachery.

Holding my hands out to my sides, a glowing orb appears in each. They swirl in my palms with icy crystals and I can't help the devilish smirk that appears on my face as they both look up at me with wide fearful eyes. The witch is the bigger threat, but my eyes shift between both of them, staying on my guard. Andromeda slowly stands up as she keeps her eyes on the moving balls of ice. "What are you?" she asks, her voice both soft and curious.

I can't say I know the answer to that. I had always thought I was just a normal werewolf, but lately I seem to be developing some sort of special abilities. I've never heard of another werewolf having these types of gifts. "It doesn't matter what I am but who I am. I am Scarlet Denton. Mate to Alpha Ethan Kane. Future Luna to the Crescent Moon Pack. And I'm your worst nightmare," I state before chucking one of the orbs at her. She quickly dodges as a purple light shoots out of her fingers. I swiftly dodge before sending another ball of ice at her. She ducks and I hurl a wave of light at her that pushes her into the wall. She collapses again as the door behind me crashes open.

My captors' eyes dart in the direction of the noise to see what it is. Lucien's wild eyes flare as I'm surrounded by the familiar scent of citrus and vanilla. I catch sight of Andromeda's worried expression before my head whips around to see Ethan standing in the doorway. His hulking figure fills the space with his rippling muscles. His jaw and fists are clenched while his eyes are narrowed at Lucien. His rage and hatred are radiating off him in waves. The alpha aura that he possesses is vibrating powerfully around him making Andromeda cower. Even Lucien seems to be affected despite his own alpha position. I've felt Ethan's aura before, but never quite like this.
