The Alpha's Surprised Mate (Book #1 of Silver Moon Series) novel Chapter 120

One-Hundred Nineteen: Phoenix Fire

Mykayla

This was not what I had expected when Mykenzie said that we needed to talk. I thought she meant us girls, but nope this talk included the guys too, which is weird. Usually, after they have hatched a plan and started gathering information, they keep that shit far from the guys as possible. They know the guys are going to freak the fuck out. So I sat back to observe the epic cluster fuck that I knew was coming. They started explaining what they had been up to. I didn’t even need to look around to know what the guys were thinking. I was waiting for the volcano to erupt.

“Are you fucking serious right now?” Ashton asked.

“Yup,” Kylani answered.

She wasn’t even phased by his pissed-off tone. That’s what I loved about those two; they never got rattled. They guys could throw a tantrum of epic proportions, and they would just sit there till the tantrum was done. Then I heard one of the guys let out a growl of frustration. I looked to see who it was, and it was Zak. That’s when this talk turned deadly. Two very low and pissed growls were returned. They thought Zak was challenging them. Zak was surprised that they growled back.

“He was not challenging you. Sit your asses down.” Chris commanded.

He had stood up to get between the three. Mykenzie and Kylani stood up, facing him. The three of them stood there for what seemed like forever. I really thought something bad was going to happen.

“YOU THREE SIT YOUR ASSES DOWN NOW! LET YOUR SISTERS FINISH WHAT THEY WERE SAYING.” Aphrodite yelled.

We all swung around to see a very pissed-off goddess standing there. The three of them sat down, pouting. They continued explaining what Storm had told them about Draydon’s younger brother and the ring. I could see Chris was not a fan of Storm. What they were saying was super interesting. When they got to the part about marks, I was surprised that Alexis had a mark that was not her mate. She explained that they had been best friends.

“He was the one that kept me from having multiple broken bones.” Alexis said.

She explained things to Jason as if he would hate her for having a best friend. He didn’t care. He made sure she knew that. What shocked me into silence was when they told me that only I could make the marks react to each other. Well, hell, what do I say to that? Of course, I am going to help. Let’s do this!

Blake

When our resident goddesses sat us all down and told us what they had been up to I was just as irritated with them as the rest of the guys were. Was I surprised? Not at all, but definitely pissed? I wanted to set that fucking vampire. What’s his name, Derrick? Oh yeah, Deklan is on fire. I knew I couldn’t really be pissed at him. They had gone to him, and it’s not like he could tell them to fuck off. Very few people can get away with telling those two to fuck off and live. There were a total of ten guys that could tell them that and live. One was their brother, so he doesn’t count. I have heard Chris numerous amount of times tell them to fuck off. That usually starts an argument, but that is nothing new with those three. The other guys had grown up with them and had been with them since the beginning. I was one of the lucky ones as well. The other one was definitely Kaleb and possibly Dustin. I had heard Kaleb tell Kylani one night as she was arguing with Chris to shut up. All he got was a glare and a very heavy bowl thrown at his head, which he dodged due to his werewolf speed. I have seen Dustin yell at the two of them several times, and they seem to do somewhat what he says. I have not actually heard him tell them to fuck off, but I am sure he could, and he would get away with it. The other five girls could get away with it, but there are two reasons for this: besides Leah and Jailynn, the other three are cousins, but Leah and Jailynn have grown up with them as well, so they also have the special privilege. All of us guys wanted to be pissed at Deklan, but we couldn’t be. When Zak let out that growl of frustration and Mykenzie and Kylani thought it was a challenge, the room went dead silent. When Chris stood up, and the three of them faced each other, I thought everyone was going to shit their pants. I could feel the fear rolling off of all of them in waves. What scared me was Aphrodite decided to use her mom's tone and put the triplets in their place. Which, by the way, doesn’t happen often. She honestly will either ignore them or let them fight it out. I sat there speechless when they explained what Storm had told them. I knew Chris hated the guy. I thought he was shady as hell. The girls trusted him, and he has always been honest with them. Then again, if you aren’t, they will know. What grabbed my attention was when they explained how we could possibly locate Haze. I looked at Alexis. I was unaware that those two had done that. I knew they were best friends and that he had saved her from multiple injuries when they were younger. I was definitely on board to find Haze as long as Alexis was. I am sure she was more than that.

“So when do we do this?” I asked.

“We can do it tomorrow night?” Mykayla answers with a smile.

I really love this girl. She is almost too sweet to be around these other girls, even if I will never admit that to the others. Although I am sure, Mykenzie and Kylani may have heard my thoughts just from the snotty look that I am now receiving. I just throw them one of my panty-dropping smiles, which appears with those two, but doesn’t have the effect it normally would on women. Oh well, I just want to find my brother.

Dustin

While I was all for helping to find Draydon’s brother, I still wasn’t sure how I liked this idea. I understood the basic idea of it, but I also didn’t want Alexis to get hurt. I mean, Mykayla was going to set fire to Alexis’s wrist purposely. That seemed a tad wrong to me. Here we were outside again at night around the fire pit. I watched as Mykayla stood up and walked towards Alexis. Mykenzie got a fire started in the fire pit because as soon as Mykayla blew some fire onto Alexis’s wrist, she was going to stick into the fire in the pit. Their blue fire. Again why did I find this whole idea to be terrible?

“Don’t worry; the blue fire won’t hurt Alexis. Remember, she is related to them. Same blood, so it protects her.” Tarlek explains.

That made me feel slightly better. I still had a weird feeling something bad was going to happen. Not sure what, but something. We all sat there watching Mykayla and Alexis do their thing. It was actually cool. I watched Mykayla form a small flame in her hand. Still unbelievably that my fiance can do shit like this. I stare at her in awe of her powers. It still amazes me that she is mine. As soon as the fire hit Alexis’s wrist, she dunked it in the fire, and I saw Mykenzie, Kylani, and Mykayla’s eyes start to glow. Alexis removed her wrist from the fire, and there was no damage from the fire. I looked over at Jason, and I saw him release the breath he was holding.

“Well?” I ask.

“I can feel him and feel his power.” Kylani answers.

“Get a location yet?” Draydon asks.

“Nope, but I think we can get at least an area where he possibly might be,” Mykenzie says.

Well, that’s good. I tell them that we can send the animals to scout the area. I can tell they want to go, but I need them here in case. The fire suddenly blazed, and a loud screech was heard. See, I knew something bad was going to happen. What surprised me was that neither of the girls or Chris seemed concerned. The fire calms down, and Persephone is standing there with a tall red-headed guy.

“You had better-brought sweets,” Mykenzie says nonchalantly.

Persephone lifts up two large bags. I love this woman and the fact that she can bake such delicious treats. I am still unsure of the man. I watch as Chris walks up and gives him a hug.

“Everyone, this is Franco. He is a Phoenix.” Chris says.

Well, that was not what I was expecting. So something did happen, but I guess it wasn’t bad. I wonder what this guy is going to have to say.
