The Alpha's Surprised Mate (Book #1 of Silver Moon Series) novel Chapter 153

One-Hundred Fifty-Two: One the Inside

Nigel

I have a guy on the inside. He is on one of the islands, but I am not sure which one. From what he told me, it is a holding facility. He has not seen Asmoday. I asked him where he was, and he had no idea where this island was located. He is not happy with Blain and me. I know he was trying to get out of that shit, but somehow we convinced him to stay.

“So he doesn’t know where he is,” Nate says.

“No, he said that they flew him to the island. He said all he could see for miles around was the ocean and then all a sudden there was an island.” I tell them.

“They are keeping the islands concealed with some sort of magic then.” Nymyra states.

I agreed with her. I just don’t know what type of magic is being used. Demons have their own powers. Asmoday is strong, but he is not strong enough to conceal three or more islands by himself. Someone is helping him. I don’t think it is a witch or warlock thought.

“Does he know how long he is going to be at that island? What are they holding there?” Dustin asks.

“Unfortunately, they didn’t give him a time frame. So he could never leave that island. I have a feeling since he already knew the business he won’t be on the low-level island for long. He said they are holding creatures there that are rather common. He is not even sure why they have them.” I explain.

I sit back in my seat. We need to find out who is helping him conceal his islands and what kind of power or magic they are using. Unless there is more than one demon, even then, they would need to be very powerful demons and several of them at the locations. I don’t believe that he has that much help. From what I can tell of the ones that are currently watching the pack, they are powerful but not any more powerful than me. I wonder if they are using fae power. That would definitely be strong enough. He either has a few, or they are working for him.

“Have any fae disappeared lately?” I ask Imyra.

“Not that I know of. I however can’t speak for the fae in the other realms or that are here in hiding.” She replies.

“You think they are using fae to help keep things hidden?” Marcus asks.

“It’s a strong possibility. Demons are capable but he would need several very powerful demons at each location and I don’t think that is feasible. I guess he could have a witch or warlock at each location, but again there are none that powerful. Fae magic is strong. Especially if they are dark fae. He may have a few of them that are either working for him or that he has captured and he is somehow forcing them to help keep things hidden.” I explain.

“I bet he is using dark fae powers,” Daniylla says.

I am leaning more towards this as well. The only problem is that dark fae are notoriously hard to find. They pride themselves on staying under the radar. I honestly have no idea where any are. I know there are ways to find them, but I don’t have the ability to do this. I know Mykenzie and Kylani could, but if some dark fae were working for Asmoday, they would cause too much suspicion. We can’t send them. I rub my temples and try to think of a way to find them.

“Where do dark fae usually live?” Mykayla asks.

“They tend to live deep in the forest or in places no one else wants to inhabit,” I tell her.

“They like dark things like dark-colored stones, dragons, and other things associated with the night or dark,” I add.

The smiles that spread across Mykayla’s face are both beautiful and scary. Reminds me of Mykenzie and Kylani. I watched as the girls turned towards Xion. He sits there looking very uncomfortable. It looks like he wants to run. I don’t blame him. I have a bad feeling I know what they are thinking.

“What is going on?” Peter asks.

“They want me to be bait for the dark fae.” Xion answers.

I have to admit it would work. Xion is just as tall as me, with long black hair and dark brown eyes. His dark chocolate skin tone helps. When he is in his dragon form, his scales are iridescent black with an undertone of blood red to them. He fits everything the dark fae love. I am not sure using him as bait is a good idea. Plus, I am not even sure we can find them. The last place I remember them being was in extinct volcanoes or deep in the jungles. We discussed the possibility of this idea for a while. Xion decides that if we can find the dark fae, he will help lure them out. I let them know I would start asking around about the dark fae.

“I have no idea how long it will take me to track them down,” I tell them.

“Just keep us updated and when you do let us know.” Dustin comments.

Asmoday is on my last nerve. This guy just doesn’t know when to quit. First, he comes up with a plan to create a more powerful god to help him take over power from the other gods. That just sounds like a recipe for disaster. Guess what, it was; he created two beings so damn powerful that no one could touch them—then he came up with this plan to get them back to finish out the original plan. I really think this guy has a severe mental issue. Not to mention he runs the entire black market selling supernatural creatures to the highest bidder.

“This guy has lost his mind,” I say.

“You want my opinion?” Josh asks.

We all look at him. What is he thinking?

“Look at his operation like the mafia. There is the don, the top guy, then everyone starts stepping down the latter. I think Asmoday is one step down from the top. He is a smart guy but I think he was given the job of collecting all the necessary bits to create the girls. Someone more powerful than him would have to mix the ingredients properly to create them. I think Asmoday and his operation is the money behind the big guy at the top.” Josh explains.

Well, shit, that makes sense. How in the hell has none of us seen this? I just sit and stare at him. Chris is doing the same thing. Sometimes all it takes is someone from the outside to see the big picture. We are so involved in all of this that we only see it from the inside.

“Who could be at the top thought?” Blake asks.

“It would have to be a god,” I say.

“No, it wouldn’t. It could be a witch or warlock who is working with a fae, demon or angel.” Rye says.

I have to agree the girls would have already known if it was a god. I bet it is an angel or fae that is the top guy. This is getting more complicated.

“Can we just release your sisters and tell them to have fun?” Peter asks.

We laugh at that. That is not the first time one of us has thought this. While that would be the easiest solution, it is also the most dangerous solution.

“I can always ask around when I go back to heaven. I know where some of the more shady angels hang out,” Colin says.

“Don’t even fucking look at me.” Seth snarls.

“Don’t worry we weren’t thinking about sending you with him.” Chris laughs.

Poor guy, he is still upset about that whole ordeal. I personally have never been there. From what I have heard, it is strange. I have been told I would be a hit up there, but something tells me that if they found out who my wife is, they probably wouldn’t bother me. That is one place the girls don’t go to very often.

“Hey how come the girls don’t go there more often?” I ask.

“Please, that place is way too bright and cheery for my sisters,” Chris replies.

“So the environment irritates them?” Ashton asks.

“Yes, they can tolerate for about ten minutes before they want to burn the entire place.” Chris answers.

I can believe that. It’s like someone who is not a morning person having to work with a building full of morning people. Those two are so ridiculous. I wonder if Nigel has had any luck yet. I mean, he was just here, so I guess he probably can’t find the dark fae that fast. I wonder if mom or dad would know where any live? Next time I go for a visit, I will ask.
