The Babysitter novel Chapter 47

Chapter 47: (Aubrey's POV)- Don't go

"Aubrey," Xavier whispered while his arm rested around my waist. "Aubrey, wake up," he whispered before kissing my cheek repeatedly.

"No," I groaned before whining and stuffing my face in the pillow.

"Aubrey, your dad is gonna murder me," he laughed slightly before kissing my neck. I huffed and opened my eyes before turning to face him and pushing him off the bed, literally. "I love you too!" he exclaimed, his head popping up in my view with his bed hair and bubbly, baby smile. I laughed into the pillow before looking up at the ceiling and sighing and then lying on my stomach, hovering on the edge of the bed to get a look at him while he lay on the floor.

"I'm awake. Wide awake." I smiled down at him before he grabbed my arm and pulled me down. "Ow! That hurt!" I smacked his cheek before we began play fighting until my phone rang. I answered and as expected, it was my dad. "I'm leaving right now, dad." I lied as I answered the phone, not even waiting for his hello or saying it myself.

"We need to talk," he said before telling me to hurry up and then hanging up. That didn't fail to dampen my mood but of course, Xavier's face was there to brighten it up. I smiled at him before standing up and going to the bathroom where I freshened up as he watched me.

I finished washing my face after brushing my teeth and stepped out of the bathroom to grab my clothes only for him to grab my arm and pull me against his chest, crashing my lips over his. That lasted for a moment before I gently pulled away and grabbed my clothes before smiling at him and closing the door to change.

Once I changed, I grabbed my stuff and packed it all up. After that, we went downstairs where I skipped breakfast and left his house. I was walking to my bike when he called my name, making me turn back around to face him.

"Come here," he asked and I listened because I'm a good girlfriend. I walked over to him and he wrapped his arms around me, pulling me into a hug. "Be back soon, please?" he pleaded, still not pulling away. I pulled away enough to look at him.

"I'm not leaving forever, at most, just for today and maybe tomorrow." I laughed slightly.

"Don't go," he whined while my hand rested on his shoulder. I wrapped my arms around his neck before pulling him in for a kiss that lasted a moment before I had to pull away and say bye. I dreadfully got home and left my bike in the garage before grabbing my things and heading inside.

"I'm home!" I announced and almost immediately, my dad appeared from his room with a disapproving look on his face.

"Sit down, will you? I'll call your mom," he said before heading back inside to call my mom out. What the hell is going on? I set my bag down on the floor and went and sat down on the dining table.

Soon enough, they both came out and sat on the seats opposite mine. I sighed before resting my hands in my lap, twiddling my thumbs. "Aubrey," they began simultaneously. My dad let my mom start,

"There are some things we need to discuss and we don't think you're going to like them but as your parents, it's our job," she stated. What the-

"We have some concerns and issues with the boy that you've been seeing, Xavier Parker." my dad cut in.

"Okay," I began slowly, "So, let's just clear them up, and then we'll all be good to go," I suggested.

"See that's the problem. We don't just want these to be cleared up. We want you to stop seeing him." my dad spoke. Well, my idea was shut down fast, so obviously they had this planned.

"Why? What issues do you have that can only be sorted out in that way?" I questioned.

"We don't think he's a good influence on you, Aubrey. We know what happened." my mom sighed.

"And what exactly happened?" I asked in confusion. What the absolute fuck are they talking about?

"Everything with Peter at Xavier's house the night Violet got back," she stated.

"And who told you what happened that night? I never did." I asked accusingly. They are trusting someone else's words over mine.

"Peter did. He explained how you were drunk, all of you were and how when he got there, you were misbehaving and fooling around with Xavier." my dad huffed. What a fucking liar.

"Let me tell you what actually happened," I began with my blood boiling inside.

"We were drinking, that's true but it was not Xavier's idea. I was drunk and the doorbell rang so I went to answer it, there I met Peter who was also drunk. Then he tried to get me to say yes when he asked me out and even in my drunken state when I refused he started harassing me. He finally left me alone when Xavier showed up and after that, Xavier took care of me. So I don't know what story Peter told you, but he lied and you guys believed him." I spoke honestly.

At least I'm not lying and saying we weren't drinking. They looked at each other for a moment before turning back to me. "There's more," my dad started, "I've come to know that Xavier's committed a few crimes. As your dad, I cannot let you be with someone like that." he spoke in a tone that left no room for argument.

I am not going down that easy. "You're talking like he murdered somebody. Dad, vandalizing and breaking in isn't that big of a deal." if I could hear myself right now I'd call myself delusional but seeing what some people in this town do, he hasn't done anything wrong.

"He held a gun to an officer's head, Aubrey." my parents stated together in disbelief. I didn't have a reply for that. It was true and he regretted it, but that won't justify it.

"He's never hurt anybody and he wouldn't hurt me. He got his consequence." I tried explaining.

"Yeah, he was put on probation. Which is what is done when you commit a crime." my dad argued.

"Why are you acting as if he's a criminal he didn't do anything! After I met him, he didn't break any laws, he didn't hurt anybody!" I reasoned. It was true, he didn't hurt anyone.

"He punched Peter." Are you fucking kidding me? How much shit did this guy lie about? I scoffed,

"Yeah, after Peter tried to kiss me forcefully!" I began raising my voice and getting very impatient.

"He's broken the law, and we cannot watch our daughter throw her life away with someone like that!" my dad raised his voice slightly too. "You will not see him again!" he ordered.

"I absolutely will! He has done nothing but be there for me and saved me and defended me and protect me in situations when I couldn't do that for myself! He is my boyfriend!" I watched as something clicked and changed in my mom's eyes while my dad refused to back down.

"Aubrey, just take this as something I'm telling you, as your dad and listen to me!" he shouted.

"Why? It's not like you're ever here!" I slipped out. "Neither of you are!" I scoffed coldly.

"Aubrey!" they both said my name sternly. "We are not here because we're working jobs!" my dad countered.

"Since when is working jobs more important than me?" I chuckled dryly. "You're both gone! All the freaking time! You have no idea what I was dealing with! Did you know, mom, that every night when I would come back from babysitting him, Peter would be standing outside, watching me like a god damn stalker? That's right, you didn't. Because you weren't there!" I snapped.

"You didn't tell me, Aubrey! Not once, if you did then I would've done something!" she reasoned.

"Did you ask?" she got quiet. "Did you once check in on me? If I was okay?" I questioned in a deadly calm tone.

"That's something different, this is about Xavier!" she said.

"You were fine with me and Xavier, you told me to make him my boyfriend. Well now I have, and I'm not letting him go." I paused. "I love him, mom."

I could see the color draining from her face.
