The CEO Gets What He Wants novel Chapter 290

After holding the emergency general meeting for shareholders, Cayden skipped work for the first time to fulfill his paternal obligations by picking up Rory and Zachary from kindergarten.

Seated in the car, Zachary asked him curiously, “It's not the weekend today, Daddy. How do you have time to take time off?”

He knew that his father had always been a workaholic and sometimes spent the weekends working overtime.

However, his father skipping work during work hours was very abnormal to Zachary.

“It is so nice that we don't have to go to school, Zachary. I'm so happy.” Rory rested her chin on her hands, and the joy on her face was evident.

With her lively nature, she was at an age that enjoyed spending time playing more than being in classrooms.

Cayden gazed at the two children sitting upright in the back seat through the rearview mirror. “I am taking both of you and Mommy to the amusement park today,” he declared calmly. “We're dropping by the house to pick her up.”

Both children opened their mouths wide in shock as if they had heard something incredible.

Daddy is actually taking us to the amusement park. What is happening today? He hates crowded and lively places more than anything. Even when we did go to amusement parks, it was Mr. Dartsley who would take us.

However, Zachary and Rory were still in a superb mood. They always saw other children going to amusement parks accompanied by their parents. The fact that they did not have a mother was undoubtedly disappointing to them. Therefore, they did not expect to go on an outing with their parents one day.

Avery's first thought was to question Cayden's sanity for still having the mood for a day out.

However, she went with them when she saw the wide, expectant eyes of her two children.

The sun was shining brightly outside. Though the weather had become quite cold, the sunshine made it feel much warmer.

Accustomed to Cayden's serious appearance in suits and leather shoes, it was the first time Avery saw him in casual wear—a white down jacket, a pair of dark-colored jeans, and a pair of white casual shoes on his feet. He looked much younger overall, like a college student who graduated recently.

Avery was suddenly reminded of Cayden's youth at the sight of his current appearance.

He had been handsome and full of sunshine back then. The image of him sweating profusely with the other boys on the basketball court played in her mind on repeat. Like every girl her age who had a crush, he was hers.

After going around in circles for so many years, we finally ended up together and have two lovely children. It's so unbelievable when I think about it.

There were fewer people in the playground as it was a weekday, but it was still very lively.

It was not the children's first trip to an amusement park, but because they came with their parents this time, it had become a very happy visit.

Cayden bought the tickets, and the family of four went through the security check and into the park.

The handsome father and the gentle mother held hands in the middle. Then, they held the hand of their two children on each side. The children were so beautiful that people could not help but stare at what they consider the epitome of what an ideal family should be.

As the family walked around, they discovered delicious food and were even allowed to have some by their strict father.

All in all, the family had a great time.

Two men with their faces hidden by peaked caps held DSLR cameras to record their waves of laughter and loving moments from the shadows.

A CEO like Cayden, who was used to sitting in an office, only frequented high-end places. In the past, he would not have bothered to go to amusement parks. Besides, he thought the games catered to children were too childish.

This time, he came specially to keep Avery and the two children company.

However, Avery and the two children would not allow him to not take part in their games.

That was why all it took was a pleading glance from all three of them for Cayden to obediently fulfill their wishes. No matter how reluctant he felt, he still opted to play those boring games with Avery and the children.

There was a small beach in the amusement park, which was separate from the beach outside. It was built in a huge circular glass house. Colorful shells and stones were scattered on the beach, as well as tropical plants and flowers, which surrounded the artificially blue sea. The scenery inside looked lovely under the sun.

It was crowded on the beach with patrons strewn about lying down or sitting up. Young mothers nestled together and watched their children play with large smiles on their faces while discussing parenting with other mothers. There were also some adults and children stepping barefoot in the seawater. The children carried small buckets and were happily picking up shells by the sea.

Several jet skis cruised along the artificial sea. Men and women seated on the cruise ship were having a great time.

The crowd filled the beach with a scene of bustling activity.

The glass room was a little hot. Avery helped Rory and Zachary remove their down jackets and boots and rolled up their trouser legs. She also removed her shoes, threw the clothes and boots to Cayden, and ran with the children to run towards the waves that washed up the beach.

The innocent children got along well with one another. Especially Rory and Zachary, who were exceedingly good-looking and therefore more popular amongst the other children.

Avery squatted down and watched her children play with a gentle smile. She kissed their cheeks from time to time, which caused the two children to squeal with pure delight. The sight of the loving mother and children stirred envy looks of the crowd.

Cayden took out his mobile phone and quietly recorded the warm scene...

Suddenly, a jet ski rushed which was out of control rushed straight out from the artificial shallow sea, breaking through the waves like a flying arrow toward the beach.

The rider was a very young mother with a girl about four or five years old in her arms. Her face was full of tears and she looked frightened.

“Get out of the way!” she shouted in a panic. “The jet ski is out of control. Get out of the way!”

Screams erupted all around as they grabbed their children to safety.

One of the children, about three years old with a shaky gait, was still playing with sand. While his little feet lapped about in the shallow water, his parents were nowhere to be found.

The child's innocent face shone with a fragile light in the sun as he watched the jet ski approach with no signs of slowing down. His large eyes stared blankly ahead, unable to comprehend what was happening.

The screams around grew louder. Some women even covered their eyes, not daring to look at the tragic scene.

Avery noticed it, and her innate kindness drove her to dash out and throw the child to the ground.

Her mind was utterly blank. Holding the young child underneath her body, she bit her lower lip tightly, closed her eyes, and waited for disaster to strike.
