The Good Girl's Revenge novel Chapter 33

Meredith knew Derek very well.

A man like him would definitely marry a woman who could match his own family in the future. Anyone who had feelings for him only would be badly hurt.

"Yes, I will leave the Xaviers one day, but when that day comes, will you have a chance? So, I hope you don't do these boring things, it doesn't make any sense."

Meredith calmly said, regardless of whether Vivian heard it or not, and returned to the room.

Vivian looked at her back and stomped her feet. Meredith was just a woman who had been in prison. How could Meredith dare to look down on her and lecture her?

One day, she would be the wife of the young master of the Xaviers and make everyone who looked down on her regret it.

...

Not long after Meredith returned to the room, there was a knock on the door.

Walking over to open the door, Meredith realized it was Mr. Xavier. She was a little surprised, "Derek is not here. Are you looking for him?"

The old man shook his head, "No, I was looking for you."

Meredith was a little nervous. Was he going to talk about the divorce with her?

"I just learned that Derek had a small car accident."

The old man frowned. Because of Derek's accident, he was nervous when he heard the words "car accident."

He could not bear the pain one more time of nearly sending away a young man to heaven as an old man.

Meredith didn't say anything and felt helpless. The car accident... It was obviously avoidable, but Derek just made it happen.

However, looking at the worried look of the old man, Meredith thought of her own grandparents and found it hard to say anything, so she could only comfort him.

"Well, from today onwards, you will be Derek's assistant and accompany him to work and get off work every day. Don't let him drive alone."

This was the old man's solution after careful consideration. After all, Meredith was Derek's lucky star according to the fortune-teller.

With her around, Derek would be safe.

"Grandpa, I'm afraid I couldn't do that." Meredith was startled and subconsciously refused. Now that she saw Derek once every few days, she already felt physically and mentally exhausted.

If she became his assistant and had to get along with him day and night, wouldn't she be bored to death?

Besides, she still had her own job and didn't want to put all the focus of her life on a man.

"I still have work to do. Besides, the young master doesn't like me. If I go, I'm afraid he'll be angry."

"That's my decision, and that kid dare not say anything. I've asked about your job. I'll pay you three times the salary. Then, when you leave the Xaviers, I'll give you a well-paid and stable job. Is that all right?"

Mr. Xavier did not take Meredith's rejection seriously.

Seeing this, Meredith felt a little helpless. She had to say that the old man in front of her and Derek were real grandsons and grandfathers. They were just as stubborn as they were, regardless of others' thoughts.

She understood that if she refused such a generous offer again, the old man would be angry. At that time, it would be her own fault.

So she just nodded.

"Well, I'm glad you agree, you can go to work with Derek tomorrow. Remember to keep an eye on him on the road and not let him get angry."

Meredith responded and the old man left with satisfaction.

After sending the old man away, Meredith collapsed on the bed. The thought of spending time with Derek every day made her uncomfortable.

Probably, the only benefit was that she could make more money. Meredith got up and looked at her bank account balance, which was pitifully small.

A while ago, when she went to various sanatoriums to look for her mother, she asked about the fees there. She actually couldn't afford to pay for a month with her meager salary for a patient who could not take care of oneself.

She had to save enough money to get her mother back.

Thinking of this, Meredith gritted her teeth. She just needed to follow Derek all day along. What a big deal, she could pretend to be deaf and ignore what he said. Just suck it up.

...

Early the next morning, Mr. Xavier announced at the dinner table, "In the future, Meredith will be your assistant, accompany you to work and take care of your daily life."

Derek frowned and glanced at the woman who was eating her breakfast, "There are no useless people around me."

The spoon in Meredith's hand stopped, and the old man sighed, "Anyway, I take care of her salary. You don't have to pay her, but you have to take her with you when you go out. Remember?"

Seeing that his grandpa was stubborn, Derek could only nod his head, but his expression was cold, and he obviously didn't agree with it.

After dinner, Meredith followed Derek with a low brow and was about to get in the car when the man said unhappily, "You're going to sit in the copilot seat? What will others think if they see you?"

Meredith was embarrassed for a moment, "I'm sorry, I didn't think it through."

As she spoke, she was about to sit in the back.

"Do you think I'm your driver if you sit in the back?"

However, Derek obviously didn't want to let her off so easily.

When Meredith heard this, her hand on the door handle paused. Derek was obviously trying to give her a hard time.

"What does young master think I should do?" Meredith couldn't help but ask him. Did she have to lie on the car roof or get under the car to satisfy this man?

"You should get away from me. The farther the better. Don't get in my way." Derek put on his sunglasses and sat in the driver's seat indifferently. His tone was cold.

Meredith clenched her fingers. If the old man hadn't forced her to accompany Derek to work, she would have left early and not be a doormat.

But now, she had no other choice.

"I'm sorry, but I don't want to be here either. I have no choice. This is Grandpa Xavier's request. Young master, you won't even disobey his words, will you?"

"You actually use my grandpa card? Do you believe that he really thinks of you as his granddaughter-in-law?" Derek sneered.

"I'm not that stupid, but I have to listen to what he said."

Meredith answered word by word, but Derek was even more unhappy. So this woman was just forced to follow him. Actually, she didn't want to at all?

What kind of game was this? Playing hard to get?

But, after looking at his watch, he realized it would be too late if he didn't set out, "Get in right now."

Derek's cold voice sounded, and Meredith carefully got into the car.

"In order to avoid any unnecessary trouble for you, young master, I will get off the car ahead of time before we reach the Xavier Group. This is good for both of us."

Derek glanced at her and said nothing.

She was good at acting. She convinced his grandpa to let her follow him to the Xavier Group, but now she pretended that she didn't want to be found out by others...

What was this woman up to?

Derek looked away indifferently, "Of course you should."
