The Good Girl's Revenge novel Chapter 189

Derek went upstairs and opened the door. Meredith was combing her hair while thinking about Parker's plan. She turned around and saw Derek when she heard the noise. Her eyes flashed with panic.

Meredith quickly held back her flurry and smiled. "Why are you here?"

Seeing her unnatural expression, Derek narrowed his eyes. "I come as I wanted. Are you... Are you unhappy to see me?"

Meredith didn't say anything. Would this man not come if she was unhappy?

"No, how would I be unhappy?"

Meredith said indifferently. Anyway, she was leaving these days and she suddenly didn't want to argue with Derek tit for tat anymore.

Maybe they wouldn't see each other again in the future.

"What were you thinking just now?" Derek came over and looked at the comb he took from Meredith's hand curiously.

Meredith had just taken a shower, and her hair was still slightly scented after drying. Her hair was very soft and hung down loosely, making her slightly lazy and seductive feminine.

Derek could not help but touch the silky soft hair. His movements were very light and gentle as if it was a precious treasure which made Meredith dazed in a moment.

However, she quickly pinched her fingers to stop herself from being distracted by his transient tenderness.

"Nothing. I was just bored and in a daze."

Meredith changed the topic quickly. "Didn't you go home?"

Derek was upset and didn't say anything when he thought about what happened at the Xaviers. The two of them were then in a strange silence.

"Has your fever been brought down yet?"

Derek thought of something and reached out to touch Meredith's forehead. It seemed to be much cooler than just now and she seemed to already recover.

"I almost recover." Meredith shook her head nonchalantly as if she was afraid that Derek would remember that terrible cooling method.

Derek sensed that she was getting nervous. He lowered his head and pinched Meredith's chin. "Why, are you afraid I'll cool you down physically?"

Meredith's face turned completely red. She felt that the picture was too beautiful to look straight at when she thought of Derek's method and she gently removed her chin from the man's hand. "I don't have a fever now and I'm taking my medicine normally. I don't need you to do that."

Derek snorted and did not put her on the spot anymore. "I'm tired and I'll go to sleep."

He was really a little tired, not only because of the physical fatigue caused by work but also the psychological pressure brought by the Old Master. He was forced by him to get married.

He didn't want to marry Chloe but Meredith...

Derek frowned at the thought of the unborn child and became even more upset.

Seeing that Derek did not seem to do anything to her, Meredith was relieved and did not evade him anymore. It would be better for her to make some concessions as he would be angry if she refused him all the time.

Derek turned off the light and held Meredith in his arms. The elegant fragrance of her body made him relaxed and he felt more and more sleepy. The man finally fell asleep.

Meredith did not get asleep so easily. She watched the bright room shone by the moonlight showing a hazy atmosphere while Derek's steady and quiet breathing came from behind.

She couldn't help but feel confused for a moment. Would they be happy if the moment could freeze when they were with each other like this?

However, it was all just a fantasy of her in the end.

Meredith turned around and looked at Derek's sleeping face. Even when the man fell asleep defenseless like this, his look was still somewhat fierce and domineering. However, he didn't show his usual arrogance in his glabella but seemed to be much softer.

Meredith could not help but reach out to touch him between his eyebrow. Perhaps it was because Derek liked to frown, there was a slight furrow between his eyebrows even when he was asleep.

"Derek... Actually I..."

Meredith looked down. "I love you but we're not the same kind of people after all."

Meredith even felt herself a little bit cheap. Even if she knew that the person Derek really loved couldn't be her and she was just the one that Derek usually killed time with, she still unconsciously fell in love with him.

She was lost in the touching emotion of his repeated protection of her and it could not be completely erased even until now.

However, she was also very clear that they should end their relationship here. If she continued to stay by Derek's side, the best result for her was to be his mistress. But she should take the risk of being separated from her own child forever.

Although Meredith had suffered a lot, her dignity did not allow her to become a third party in other people's marriage. The reason was that Wesley once had a mistress before and she looked down on this kind of woman.

Therefore, she could only leave. Even if she did not want to, she could only do so.

Meredith thought and a trace of sadness flashed in her eyes. Perhaps this was her destiny. However, she would take good care of their children after she left. She would regard it as a memory of their marriage that ended in vain.

Thinking about this, Meredith closed her eyes nestling in Derek's arms, and fell asleep double-minded.

The next morning, sunlight squeezed into the room through the gaps in the curtains, waking the sleeping man.

It was rare for Derek to wake up so early. He moved his arm and found that there was a heavy head on it. Meredith's face was pressed against his arm and she fell asleep quietly. She didn't show any resistant look but dependence on him.

The man unknowingly eased his movements. Perhaps it was because the atmosphere was too beautiful or perhaps it was because they had rarely had such peaceful moments and he could not bear to disturb this scene.

However, Meredith woke up as Derek moved. As a pregnant woman, her abdomen was so heavy that she could not sleep soundly.

Meredith suddenly had eye contact with Derek when she opened her eyes. There was only her figure in his dark eyes and it was so bewitching.

She was stunned for a moment and then realized that she was pressing down on Derek's arm with a blink. "I... I'm sorry I didn't have a good sleep phase when I fall asleep."

Meredith's politeness pulled Derek back from his thoughts. He got up and said, "It's okay."

The two of them seemed a little distant again from these few words.

Derek hurried to the company after having breakfast with Meredith.

Meredith watched his back as he left upstairs, feeling a little melancholy in her heart. This would be her last look at him...

She would leave this place tonight according to Parker's plan and they might not see each other again anymore.

The maid walked into the room and saw Meredith staring blankly at the car Derek got into. She couldn't help shaking her head. It seemed that Miss Mason also cared about the Young Master. Then why wouldn't they settle down and live a happy life together?
