The Peremptory Casey Davies novel Chapter 42

"Dempsey, didn’t you told me that the TV was broken by Casey, what are you doing now?" Amara asked suspiciously.

"No, it was actually my fault. And the TV is not broken. Just check the money and see if it’s right. I still need to pay back the others." Dempsey answered.

Amara opened the parcel and counted the money in it. In addition to the money for the TV, he had also returned the rest that he owed.

Seeing that Dempsey acted differently than usual, Amara wondered if it was because her daughter's status elevated in the Patel family, which made this old man try to please her.

That's right, it must be the reason. It was definitely because of her daughter that Dempsey would return the money. No matter what, it couldn’t be Casey’s contribution.

"Dempsey, don’t say that. I don’t need the money in a hurry. You can pay it back later." Though Amara said so, she still put the parcel into her pocket quickly.

Dempsey was quite embarrassed. He wanted to pay it back later, but the roughnecks that visited him today wouldn't like that.

He didn't want to have a machete on his neck. It would be a shame if he was scared out of his pants again.

“Okay, if the money is right, then I'll go first, talk to you later," Dempsey turned around without hesitation, and headed to the next debtor.

Amara went back inside happily. Noticing the smile on Amara’s face, Edith asked, "Mom, what's wrong, why so happy."

"Your Uncle Wong just paid the money for the TV, and also the money he owed us." Amara answered with a smile on her face.

Edith was surprised by how quickly Dempsey returned the money, since Casey said yesterday that he could ask the money back.

This man seemed to be more reliable than she thought.

"Edith, Uncle Wong must know that your status in the Patel family has elevated and will have a bright future, so now he wants to please us and thus gave the money back." Amara analyzed.

Edith knew that Dempsey would pay back obediently not because of her, but Casey.

"Mom, it has nothing to do with me, it was Casey that asked the money back.” Edith said.

Amara glanced at Casey and said contemptuously, “How does a useless man like him ask the money back? Who is he that could have your Uncle Wong come and return the money in person?"

"Don't you speak for this useless man, Uncle Wong returned the money because of you. I am in a good mood today, so I won't throw him out of this family. But tell him to remember that he doesn't have the right to speak in this family and stay obedient in the future."

Edith felt that her mother was so unreasonable, and she almost told Amara that Casey gave her a necklace that was worth 45 million.

However, Casey had told her to keep it secret, otherwise, something bad might happen.

Especially not to tell Amara, who had a big mouth. Once the secret leaked out, their family might be targeted by others.

Casey looked at Edith with a smile. As long as the money was returned, he didn't care about the rest.

"It's fine as long as mom is happy."

Edith felt that her family had owed Casey too much.

Logically speaking, the money for the TV should be given to Casey, but with Amara’s personality, it would be impossible to take back the money. Therefore, Edith didn’t mention it.

Since the money was paid back, Amara didn’t pick on Casey for a few days.

One day on the weekend, Diana arrived at Edith's house early in the morning. As soon as she walked in, she jumped into Edith’s arms and said, "Edith, what should I do? I think I am lovesick."

Edith rolled her eyes and said reluctantly, “If you are lovesick, why do you hug me?"

"I have to practice first. I can put on a good show when my prince shows up." Diana said with stars in her eyes.

They sat on the sofa. Diana hurriedly took out her phone and texted Caesar, “Today is the ninety-ninth time I have missed you."

As soon as the message was sent, the phone on the table rang.

It was Caesar’s phone. He went shopping for groceries and didn't bring his phone.

Diana was confused, was Caesar living in Edith's house?

She turned around and asked Edith, "Whose phone was that?"

“Oh, it’s Casey's, he went shopping and didn't bring his phone." Edith replied.

Diana's face immediately showed a trace of contempt when she heard Casey’s name, telling herself that it must be a coincidence just now.

She had imagined how her prince would look like for so many times. He might be an old man, but never Casey Davies.

Without thinking too much, Diana said, "Edith, do you know that my prince sang a song for me that day, and his voice was the most amazing sound I have ever heard. Now this song is so popular on the internet and is used as BGM by many influencers."

Edith was surprised and urged, "Really? Let me hear it."

Diana immediately played the song sang by Casey. As the music rang out, both of them were immersed by Casey’s spectacular voice.

When the song was over, Edith asked proudly, “How about that! My prince must be amazing in reality since he could sing so well."

Edith nodded, but she then asked doubtfully, "This song is really good, but... don't you think it sounds like Casey’s voice?"

Diana was stunned for a moment. After thinking it carefully, she found that it did sound like Casey.

However, Diana soon denied Edith's speculation and said with contempt “Like, but definitely not the same. You know Casey better than I do. How could he sing so well."

"If it really was him, he would absolutely show off in front of you."

Casey had never sung in front of Edith, maybe it just sounded alike.

"My Prince must be a tall, rich, and handsome man. Casey is nothing in comparison. I know you want him to be like that too, but it's a shame that he can't live up to it." Diana tried to tease Edith.

The latter grumbled in a flirtish manner and said, “Right, right, your prince is the best."

Suddenly, Diana's phone rang. She answered the phone, and after a few seconds, she looked at Edith with a smile.

“Hunter just called me and wanted to ask you out for a meal.”
